ASIC = 1 application.  They do nothing but hash the SHA256 function.
and you can use it for a space heater

Pretty loud space heater:)
9  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Reducing noise S7 on: July 13, 2016, 12:24:30 PM
The highest i've had my s7s is 70 temp, and when that happens I lower frequency down to 600-650 and leave the fan at 100% and it brings it down to 64-67. My miners stay around 60-67 all day, but when it sometimes reaches high 60's i will open the door that the miners are in and it usually drops it down to 62-64. I've had the miners for about 3 weeks now and no problems.

edit: saw your second picture, make sure to add a back up pool just in case the primary pool server goes down.

Thanks!
So my temps are ok, that's good
Yes, I'll add a back up pool, thanks for mentioning
10  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Reducing noise S7 on: July 13, 2016, 11:30:16 AM
So, I've performed ducting and noise reduction is pretty good
Firstly, I want to mention, that my tube is different from what Philipima1957 advised me. Its' isolating layer is thin (actually I expected it would be twice or triple thicker - 2.5cm), so tube itself didn't reduce noise much, but I covered it with 3 blankets and then it was a significant noise reduction, so now I'm in the room next to miner and I don't hear it at all, working on 100% Smiley

I placed miner and PSU fully inside the duct, cut a small hole in it for PSU wire
Pointed out of the duct into the window, so it is pulling air from room into the window (I've done visa-versa at first, but is was not a good idea)

Not very esthetic, but effective Smiley

Now I run it at 700mhz freq and customized fan speed and temp results seems to be normal (as I was told by seller - 62-68d.cent. is ok)

It occupied one room but I don't use that room at all) Local temp in my apartment is ok, as it should be at summer, miner doesn't affect it now, and noise is not heard almost at all.

Question is - is 62-68 temp ok? Is that bad or not to run it on 100% in the duct?
11  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Reducing noise S7 on: July 12, 2016, 12:04:40 AM
I've been in this situation. Best thing to do is put the miner or miners away from the window. I have 2 s7's and I used to place them right next to the window with a fan blowing air directly out of the room. I noticed that it was really loud when I would listen to it from outside. Put the miners at the far end of the room, next to the door and you will notice that the noise will be a lot less than before if hearing from outside. good luck

you can also try putting the frequency to 525-600 with fan at 70-80% you gotta play with it a little.

Thanks for your advice! Smiley Tomorrow I'll buy the duct, and the only place I can put it is my balcony, so I don't have much choice) I'll play with freq/fan speed and compare results for noise/temp
12  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Reducing noise S7 on: July 11, 2016, 09:15:59 PM
Can't you just cut the duct into 2 pieces and attach to each end? Putting the miner instead could cause a large short since it looks like that material might conduct, or it might go on fire.

Seems a good idea, but I'm not sure about this, how will this affect noise level comparing to putting it fully in?
13  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Reducing noise S7 on: July 11, 2016, 09:10:42 PM
I used the concept from philipma1957 - 3 separate ducts for 3 separate miners, then have some Y connectors to join them together.  Finally have a strong fan like this one:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0130ZAO20?psc=1

... to pull the air out and through a window.  Then cover up the ducts with a few more blankets.

Hmm... Isn't that fan making much noise pulling out the hot air?
I just have 1 miner, so I think there is no need in such a powerful fan
14  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Reducing noise S7 on: July 11, 2016, 09:07:24 PM
Best way would be to undervolt it with sidehack's mod. Then it would be almost silent.

Can you please link or give me some details please, so I could understand clearly what do you mean?
15  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Reducing noise S7 on: July 09, 2016, 10:09:48 PM
it worked for my s-7's

and tube length does some times not let all air clear , but a pull fan at the end of the tube can help.

trial and error will be needed

Thanks, I'll take it into consideration
16  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Reducing noise S7 on: July 09, 2016, 09:41:37 PM
Totally agree about the design of them and obviously the fans are more powerful on the s7. It was just a bit of advice to take into consideration  Wink hope the ducting helps though. Don't forget to report back with your findings (including temps before and after).

Yes, I'm curious about temp changes too, hope it'll be fine
I'll report for sure)
17  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Reducing noise S7 on: July 09, 2016, 08:08:05 PM
You don't want one too long though. I tried putting ducting on an s4 I had and the temps actually increased as it didn't have enough power to move all the air in the tube.

Yes, I thought about this too. But I can always cut it) Anyway, I'll try it, this method seems to be good
And there is much difference in s4 and s7 design, where fans are placed, so I think ducting for s7 will be better than for s4
18  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Reducing noise S7 on: July 09, 2016, 07:03:49 PM

Wow! Great, thanks a lot! I'll probably try this)
Let me see is there such tubes available near to me)
19  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Reducing noise S7 on: July 09, 2016, 06:28:17 PM
You could always change the fans first for the same size but quieter. I think scythe do a kaze fan that fits. It doesn't push the same amount of air so temps may rise (you need to take into account ambient temp aswell) but it will be quieter.

Thanks, I'll research this way. But this also will destroy warranty immediately, that's also the point
20  Bitcoin / Mining support / Reducing noise S7 on: July 09, 2016, 05:46:14 PM
Hello folks!
Eventually I got my S7 shipped, set it up and started mining (PPC not BTC); but!
It's really noisy (I just didn't expect it will be SO noisy), and my place doesn't allow me to handle such noise. I'm living in appartment house (mansions or whatever, I don't know how to translate it properly), so there are a lot of neighbours around, and also it is quite annoying for me, because there is not much sq/m (about 60)
What am I actually thinking about (want to know your opinion and take some advice maybe):
To make a box 1x1x1m, put some sound isolating pannels inside of it on all 6 sides of the box (those pannels are used in sound recording studios http://img25.olx.ua/images_slandocomua/82363553_2_644x461_zvukoizolyatsiya-zvukoizolyatsionnye-paneli-2h1-m-fotografii.jpg), make 2 holes from 2 sides of the box for ventilation tubes (aproximately 15cm diameter) and point that tubes straight into the window. What do you think about this idea?
I think it can help significantly, but I'm not sure)  Huh
Or maybe you can suggest any other ideas how to reduce noise?

Thanks!
