1  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Haasonline Simple Trade Bot For BTCe and Bitstamp[Main topic] on: August 19, 2014, 04:27:43 PM
The beta test is open for all users. The test itself is done to see if we are near an release already and to ensure everything works as desinged. And as soon as we got this confirmed we will issue the update to all the users. It is an normal release procedure with the exception this time the update itself is too big, thats why it is taken an long time to do this testing now.

@nanobit:
Going short is something we do not yet support, but its on the top of the request list to be added so in time we will support iton the exchanges that support it too. Once the support is there the DEMA (or any other indicator) can be used as an trigger.

Does the bot currently support at least a way to manually short BTC? I mean, does it indicate (or better yet, alert) when DEMA or TEMA cross over, essentially recommanding going short? I'm not yet familiar with the product so I'm not sure how feature rich it is.

Also, you mention that the beta version is available for everyone? Where could one download it?
2  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Haasonline Simple Trade Bot For BTCe and Bitstamp[Main topic] on: August 18, 2014, 09:44:15 AM
Is it possible to configure this to short BTC based on e.g. DEMA? So the bot would either indicate or automatically go long or short based on DEMA or TEMA?

I couldn't find an answer for this anywhere.

Thanks!
3  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Blockchain.info Shared Send gone but Shared Coin still available? on: April 12, 2014, 08:40:41 AM
Piuk: since Blockchain.info is not using nor offering Shared Wallet anymore, why can't you release the code? By open-sourcing it you would allow others to provide a service to the community that you refuse to offer anymore.
4  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: ✰ [ANN] BITMIXER.IO ✰ High Volume Bitcoin Mixer ✰ on: March 31, 2014, 10:40:38 PM
How can one verify that you truly mixed the coins? Blockchain.info's taint analysis, the only site I know, is not working anymore.

Are you planning on adding a feature for a blockchain analysis on your website?
5  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info - Bitcoin Block explorer & Currency Statistics on: March 31, 2014, 10:09:08 PM
Where did Blockchain.info's "taint analysis" feature go?
I just noticed it's not working, and apparently hasn't been for a while. I couldn't find any explanation what happened to it nor why haven't they fixed it?

Or is this similar kind of effort to please the goverment than when they removed the shared wallet feature?
6  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: CoinJoin: Bitcoin privacy for the real world on: March 31, 2014, 10:04:04 PM
Could someone kindly give a status update on when will we have a real-world, usable CoinJoin (besides the implementation on Blockchain.info)? This thread is huge, and I'm sure many casual readers would like to see a tl;dr to learn will this result in a usable client soon, or what's the plan?

I found the thread when reading this article from 7 months ago. What has happened since?
http://bitcoinmagazine.com/6630/trustless-bitcoin-anonymity-here-at-last/

I'm still actively working on the implementation I have started Coinmux.  I have taken a break for the last month after spending 3+ months working on it nights and weekends. Hopefully there is a Bitcoin God that wants to offer me a job to work on it full time. Smiley

Themgp, that looks really interesting! I'm sure others wish you could work on it full time, too! Smiley
How far away is it from being usable for an average Bitcointalker?

8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MasterCoin: New Protocol Layer Starting From “The Exodus Address” on: January 19, 2014, 06:14:17 PM
Mastercoin got a bit of publicity today. Max Keiser talked quite a bit on protocols being built on top of bitcoin, describing these as "bitcoin 2.0"
http://rt.com/shows/keiser-report/episode-551-max-keiser-769/

There's also an article about Bitcoin 2.0 (or UltraCoin) on Zerohedge:

9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: MasterCoin Buyer/Seller Thread on: January 18, 2014, 09:49:36 AM
damn that was fast. well glad thats out of the way. So you're not selling any more?
I'm done with large transactions in the near term.

I'm putting together a plan to publicly announce my plans for future diversification SLOWLY and primarily at MUCH HIGHER PRICES (the idea is that my % holdings will go down as a function of Mastercoin market cap increases), and I hope most diversification will be investments into projects building on top of Mastercoin. You guys know there is a whole angel investor group forming up for the purpose of investing in Mastercoin-based companies and projects, right?

Anyway, I'm not supposed to be talking about this publicly yet - I'm supposed to let our marketing people carefully craft announcements and when and how they are made. I just wanted to make sure the market knew that I am done fund-raising. That's all I have permission to officially say right now Smiley

Great news, J.R! I'm sure everyone's happy to hear you were able to find buyers off the exchange.
Is it clear yet what your role will be? I know Mastercoin is looking for CTO. Will you be filling that position?
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: MasterCoin Buyer/Seller Thread on: January 13, 2014, 11:43:59 PM
Here is what I feel will happens roughly :

if (JRprice == x)
{
     masterXchangePrice = x - 10%;
}

In my humble opinion, trading OTC will impact the market more than trading quietly on an exchange.

First, all trades impact the quantities available in the same way, if you sell 1000 MSC OTC, that will always be 1000 MSC that wont be bought on the market. There is no "if you dont trade on the exchange the price will not be impacted !".
Thats an economical fallacy; the price converges to the same value everywhere and the exchange is a part of the market in the same way that the OTC is.

Second, saying that you have X quantities to sell at Y prices is much worse than trading them little by little : As long as the market expect a bigger quantity to be traded, the price will correct itself until the price discovery process is finished. Thats like bill gates announcing that he will sell 1% of MSFT the next week. What huge holders are doing is that they pay brokers to liquidate the quantities as quietly as possible on the marketplaces.

Having said all that, I will add that this is only an opinion and that its really great that JR is commiting himself to Mastercoin full time Smiley

This is all fascinating to follow in term of economic theory

Yeah, by doing this so publicly, I'm basically ensuring that the price drop happens BEFORE I sell, rather than my sell causing the price to drop. If I had sold privately, the price would have still gone down, and nobody would have known why until somebody noticed in the block chain that J.R.'s coins were being sold, potentially causing a HUGE panic.

It seems clear that I would have done a LOT better doing this privately, without telling anybody what I was doing until somebody noticed my coins being sold, but this way seems more ethical to me.

JR, I'm sorry to point this out, but when you made the announcement 5 days ago, you wrote:
"I hope to sell 3-6% of my total MSC holdings (5000-10000 MSC). If I haven't sold them by August 1st 2014, I'll sell more aggressively.".
First, it would appear you didn't run the announcement by the Board. Ripper had to immediately start speaking on your behalf to clarify the message. It appears you ran solo, without analyzing what kind of message your announcement sends. This shows questionable judgement on your part.

Second, could you please explain why, when you just caused a panic sell 5 days ago, you cause another drop by forgetting your promise of keeping the prices you announced until August? Kindly explain your thought process, because I'm really at a loss. The founder should act in a predictable, altruistic way.

I would also suggest you do a session similar to Reddit's AMA, where the community can send you questions, and you actually answer them. This is the only ICT project I've ever been involved in where the leader is the least visible and most unavailable person in the project. It should be the other way around.

My apologies for the harsh words, J.R., but I think we deserve answers.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mcoin.io – self service Mastercoin order book on: December 30, 2013, 11:32:36 PM
Important update: I was using Bitpay as payment processor for "Buy now" orders on the site. Unfortunately, they don't want me to use their service, I just received this email:

Quote
We are a payment gateway not intended for the use of exchanging cash or cash equivalents. The sale/exchange of currencies using our services is not permitted.

So I have to modify the site and switch to another payment system. I took all prefunded ("Buy now") orders offline for now and will put them online again as soon as the new payment system is in place. If you currently have a prefunded order you can of course request your Mastercoins to be sent back, just send me a PM.

If user A sends (prefunds) MSC, and user B sends BTC, what part of the trade requires the use of Bitpay?

Bitpay is not necessarily required. But it was nice to use since it sent a callback to the website after a successful payment. Then the order was automatically removed from the order book. This took away some work I would have to do manually otherwise.

Instead of just taking prefunded orders offline, wouldn't it be more fair to add them manually to the list at least as normal, non-prefunded quotes? Isn't the current setup really unfair to the people who used prefunding?

If you really want others to adopt mastercoin, you'd better encourage people to sell the coins. As a pre-mined coin, it's essential for the early adopters to be generous so that more people can have a chance to join. Otherwise, there will be no new comers and the coin will be doomed. It's better to have 1M of coins with price 1 BTC later each than have 10M of valueless coins.

Everyone says that pre-mined is less democratic, but I haven't seen any proof to back up that argument. Following how PTS was mined in less than a week to a level of difficulty where even high-end servers are almost useless, I'm leaning towards MSC model. Early adopters always have a huge advantage.

Please remove my buy order, and put in a sell order for up to 150 at .139

Hope you didn't lose your faith in the project yet? Smiley

Thanks for the summary, Robby!
There are so many open topics, did you discuss/agree with David about what are the highest priorities short-term?

And well done Michael Terpin, you are the man. Best Media Lead in Bitcoin. He knows his stuff. Great article.

Great article! I'm sure it'll bring people here to try and see when this awesome Mastercoin platform will be available. Perhaps someone could give a short summary of where we are now and what still needs to be done before Distributed Exchange is ready for use?
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mastercoin: nominations for full-time developers on: December 02, 2013, 11:20:32 PM
I suggest that we ask maaku if he’d get on board. maaku is an experienced Bitcoin developer, who has been (?) working an a project somewhat similar to Mastercoin (Freimarkets), but which didn't get crowd‐funded as he hoped. maaku has been earning money from community donations, etc., and I expect that he'd strongly consider filling a salaried position as a Mastercoin developer. See his Github account.

We also might consider Vitalik Buterin (who wrote Pybitcointools and has demonstrated in interest in Mastercoin) and/or one/more of the other Dark Wallet devs—that project has only raised about $100k, so they can't all be working on it full-time.

In any case, we do need to be looking outside of the Mastercoin project for developers: Tachikoma and zathras have repeatedly stated that they're not for hire (though I would support hiring Bitoy, grazcoin and/or rbdrbd); we have thousands of bitcoins in the bank and a very cool project—we shouldn't be begging for time commitments.

I can't commit to running as a full time dev for obvious reasons (have my own business), and I'm not sure that proposal I put out about running a dev team out of my company to bootstrap things still is open (too much risk for me based on what I'm seeing, plus I don't think we could build the consensus for it). However, if I can see enough turn around in this project, I'd be happy to continue masterdaemon development, as well as put my name in the hat for a board seat.

Can you elaborate on what kind of risks do you mean you're seeing?
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Depressed that I was not an early adopter on: December 02, 2013, 10:08:00 PM
The new opportunity is in businesses that deal with bitcoins. The right ones will see just as much appreciation as bitcoin did. Bitcoin will enable a new economy and you're in at a very early stage.

and how would one invest in bitcoin based ventures and businesses ? especially for the little guy without a million plus. that is the question

Through crowdfunding?
