1  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Was it a Gut's feeling a Mathematical calculation or a Coincident? on: Today at 09:27:48 AM
Call it math or superstition, these things are coincidental.

I can have a gut feeling that today is going to rain and it might and it might not. But if one fine morning I have a gut feeling that its going to snow in a desert, it might be a wrong one completely. This is all probability based on past records to predict and although it seems like its math, in reality its not as simple as 2+2=4 - there is always the luck factor making these more complicated.

Hence its useless to wrack your brains over this just accept that the guy was lucky and won big. Dont try to replicate that, ever.
2  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Bitcoin Mining Shutdown Cause 20% Surge in Electricity Bills on: Today at 09:21:00 AM
they sold off all their s19 in an auction I think they are done.
Was that declared on press or this forum? I did not find any such info in the OP's quoted article.

I guess being the mining guru of this forum does come with some cool info from time to time Cheesy

Too bad because I feel they could have relocated to a new country with those ASICs and started afresh, but my knowledge is limited to what conditions they were actually going through, maybe that was not something possible.
3  Other / Meta / Re: Need suggestions for our local improvement.... on: Today at 09:17:13 AM
OP a similar situation has been happening to my local board too. We had a merit source who has been busy and thus there is no local board dedicated merit source. Although I applied recently, it will take a long time to get approved by the looks of it.

Forcing the manager to pay for local boards posts might be an option, but does sound a bit of "extortion" in a softer manner to me. Grin

If they are not incentivized - will they not be posting there at all? Try to keep it active and have some topics that people find interesting, not just crypto because the latter is a niche thing to talk about.
4  Local / India / Re: Bhutan has been quietly mining Bitcoin for many years now on: September 19, 2024, 10:33:29 AM
OP, Forbes has been cunningly kind enough to put articles behind a paywall, we poor people cant afford to pay for that and hence we cannot read that source article in the first post.

Coming back to the topic, I did come across this news previously but I have put it away as an exaggerated one. If so much bitcoin is being stored, who is storing them and for what purpose? The government? or its people? Are they using it to fund anything?

Even if it was the people, they would have to spend it somewhere and is there any information regarding that?

Druk holdings is supposedly the company behind this using bitdeer for equipment. I am very skeptical as to what their actual objective here is.
5  Local / India / Re: Education and awareness about crypto for our people! on: September 19, 2024, 10:28:17 AM
The forum here is a good source of information. I got my first steps by reading the megathreads on this forum.

We can obviously guide newbies into selecting proper wallets and taking safe measures to prevent hacking and scamming.

I am not so sure about investment because that is more of a personal endeavor and we are not financial advisors.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Email scam demanding bitcoin - fooling the weak. on: September 19, 2024, 10:26:06 AM
I can already see the cohort who will get affected by this. It is the older generation, less tech savvy users who possibly living alone or have no one else to depend on to. They have a lot of doubt and apprehension and easily get coaxed in paying such scammers. It is our duty to teach them about the nuances and try to prevent these things from happening.

One can try cleaning up their emails every few days or the gunk that get stuffed in, such emails will not be hard to find there.
7  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Bitcoin Mining Shutdown Cause 20% Surge in Electricity Bills on: September 19, 2024, 10:21:20 AM
"Compromise"

Is what I say when I hear such news. On one hand you have mining companies who are trying to make a living and on the other side you have local residents who have to bear the noise and have an unknown invisible cut on their bills.

Bad for the company to set up in a location where locals are living. I hope their permit is renewed quickly but they should think about changing their location if feasible.

A lot of factors might be at play here, we are only seeing one side of the story.
8  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Slot Strategies- Sticking with One Game or Switching it Up? on: September 19, 2024, 10:14:23 AM
The routine is more or less same for slot players.

However the games can become boring after seeing the same things over and over again. So slot developers are constantly making newer versions of the essentially same game. You should understand this properly, it is the same game just the animations and the colours are different and that is enough to get the players move to that one.

Switching the slot game has least changes. You can never determine whether you lose or win beforehand thus they are all same.
9  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Long-term profitable strategies on: September 19, 2024, 10:10:22 AM
Ah, but you know, I'm not very expert in these things... but you're right about this casino issue.
The one that always wins is the casino, I have never seen the owner of a casino cry in poverty.
Casinos need to keep their work straight too, not cheat its users and continue to market the product with new promotions every months and so on.

If done properly, that is the only long term profitable strategy to "make money from a casino".

Who knows, most of the casino owners have been addicted gamblers previously and they eventually understood their folly of wasting money in playing. Now they are making money every single day and can play for free on their own casino.

Its a long term thought and comes with its own problems but is a full time job and a fruitful one too.
10  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: AsidesTrading, What Are Less Risky Methods of making money in crypto(? on: September 18, 2024, 09:02:37 AM
Trading should be limited to spot trading and that too only bitcoin and maybe the top few altcoins. Trading is always a long term game, do your homework on the coins and only buy at the low and sell at the high. Theses are basics.

Next you can invest in casino bankroll, very few options nowadays but it is a long term investment.

Do not invest in staking, it is loss in the long term and often scams are masquerading in it.

Beyond this, there are few options. Be sure to invest in traditional markets too if you cannot convert fiat to BTC easily, they are also not bad and goo enough alters until bitcoin can pick up new things.

11  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Long-term profitable strategies on: September 18, 2024, 08:56:20 AM
Of course, in gambling, which is entirely based on luck,
Which gives the most direct and 100% accurate answer to your question - there is no profitable strategy if you are on the gambler's side of the table. That side is only for extracting money for the casino and you are just handing it over to them unless you control your budget.

This does incite the opposite, what about the other side, the casino's side of the table? That my friend is a long term profitable investment. Be the bankroll, be the casino and you will reap profits over the years. You will likely face losses in some sudden seasons but overall it is a win.
12  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does the changing value of BTC affect your decision to gamble in crypto casinos? on: September 18, 2024, 08:53:15 AM
I would not play if the prices of bitcoin are swinging up and down. Rather stay put and watch it until it settles a bit. However there are gamblers who are addicted to the game and are not thinking about anything beyond gambling.

For them the price does not matter, they will gamble no matter the price and they will continue to gamble till they are bankrupt of their monthly allowances. It is like a drug to them and without it they become hopeless.

Logically speaking, one should amass coins during bear run and play on the bull run but who cares?
13  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: If You Became a Campaign Manager, How Would You Make a Difference? on: September 18, 2024, 08:50:06 AM
Good question, frankly though I would never become one because I am much busy with my life on the real world than the forum. But if you ask my opinion, there is no perfect manager but features that I would try to inculcate would be:

1. Encourage users to contribute to different sections of the forum and enrich their own knowledge periodically.
2. As a campaign manager merit received is in decent quantities, so managers should distribute that too to the participants instead of holding to it.
3. Regular warnings to those who are breaking the manager's set of rules.
4. Monthly statistics of performance among members.
14  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Godex.io | BTC Price Prediction ' September 19 | WIN $50! on: September 17, 2024, 09:50:26 AM
My prediction:

$58638
15  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: High APR staking: reality or dream? on: September 17, 2024, 09:41:12 AM
Projects like these come and go and people get wiped off their balance within a few months of "operations" - their mistake? Trusting the anonymous websites on the internet with their money with no leverage on their side.

Staking has become a safe haven for many scammers, some are trustworthy sites but most are not. If you are new to this you are better off not giving them a second thought.

The best option is to buy bitcoin at intervals whenever the price drops below a set point.
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What most beginners don't get about Bitcoin on: September 17, 2024, 09:37:49 AM
I have said this in previous threads too, I will say it again.

The presidential candidate of "one" country does not matter to bitcoin. It may show short term ups or down but that is it.
What matter is whether they introduce new laws or regulations on cryptocurrency use or abuse during their term. Now I know that many people are betting on bitcoin for which candidate is going to win and by how much and all that, but it really does not impact the long term price of bitcoin.

Beginners dont get it because they have not see charts through such events in the past.
17  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Soldiers using gambling to cope with stress. on: September 17, 2024, 09:26:26 AM
Also, people in this thread talk about soldiers becoming addicted and actually running into debt by gambling while on duty, I know something like that would be possible but it would imply soldiers taking credit cards with whtm to the front or other mechanism for them to access credit while battling for them country. It does not sound like something which could become a problem as quick as it sounds.
I dont know much about how soldiers get to spend their money while on a tour but I guess there must be methods because we are living in the 21st century and everyone knows how to use the internet and mobile phones. However gambling is not something I prefer a soldier should do, because like others have pointed out it is a method to escape from the horrors of war, just like alcohol and drugs are.

The easier solution is the end of wars and prevalence of peace, but this will recur from time to time as we are seeing in the last 2years.

Overall, this shows that gambling is common among all people, specially those who are under psychological problems, instead of talking to a counselor, they commit to gambling.
18  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Aviator games on: September 17, 2024, 09:19:31 AM
This game is very difficult to win, it's just based on luck..
The term "win" in my opinion should not be used here. Rather the term is consistent greens compared to reds. Crash games are built to make you lose like any gambling game and the more you try to "fight" the casino the more you will lose. Some games on crash or aviator, will be lost at 1x right after a millisecond of starting, you can not make money in the long term in these games but feel the adrenaline rush and you will get addicted to its pleasure.

People continue to analyze games and see the median number rolled and so, all that is a waste of time. If you want to make money from aviator, invest in its bankroll and see the growth.
19  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Market Manipulation! Is it real? on: September 16, 2024, 09:36:48 AM
I don't understand how these large cap coin can be manipulate, when these coin are well distributed and decentralized?
Decentralization and manipulation are not connected properties. A coin can be decentralized that means its supply is not controlled by a specific body, but rather distributed. It does not mean that a certain whale cannot buy them in small volumes over time to amass a large volume and then dump it on the market one day.

Distributed does not mean not manipulated, it may or may not be so.

However having observed the markets for some years I dont think this has been real in bitcoin unlike what happens in stocks. Bitcoin drops happen when bad news like hacks, bans and so happen and it starts going upwards often for public acknowledgement and exchange openings.

It is not something we long term traders need to worry about.
20  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling: games with fast results or games with a long process on: September 16, 2024, 09:32:09 AM
Well, based on my observations, I thought gambling games with quick results are most addictive and which most people prefer today.
It is definitely the case because gamblers will always want quick wins and losses and no waiting - it means they want the dopamine rush and they will not stop the addiction but only fuel it further.

Quote
I personally prefer gambling with longer results like sports betting or some card games like poker, because I can able to enjoy the process and it will help you save from lossing more money compared to that games with quicker results.
You might have noticed that while you are waiting for the game to end and you get your results, you have a heightened anxiety and emotion level. Someone people can control it but most cant. This is because we humans have a reward system built like that, we want quick solutions and easy solutions to everything.

In either case, both have the luck factor in play, that small luck and always make you win or lose the bet even if it has skills involved.
