1  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk account with the name "Frost" stolen on: October 09, 2017, 09:28:17 PM
The hacker changed the password and e-mail address and I didn't even received a notification...  Sad

Happened in my case too. As it seems, you don't get confirmation mail in this forum when you want to change pw and e-mail, which makes it so much easier for hackers. So, all they have to do is looking into the leaked user database, for people that didn't change their PW's.

Still didn't get help. They just banned my old acc (I demanded this).... at least something. But they could just give me the account back since there proof enough in my thread that it was stolen from me.
If you have a proof can prove this is your account, I recommend you should to PM MOD "hilariousandco", he can helps you unblock your account if you can give him your proof. I think PM him will better than PM Cirus or theymost, because admin always busy than global mod.

Contact him at here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=164822

In hilariousandco profile....

And Cyrus absolutely doesn't respond to my PM's anymore. I still want my account back, it's been made public here that someone bought it from a hacker. I get zero help from the admins.

Yeah, Cyrus doesn't respond to me, either. Sometimes I see a user post a "hacked account" thread and Cyrus responds within a few days. But it seems he ignores most people. I wish he'd just fire off a response one time like "SFYL, not helping"....... is that so much to ask?

Still waiting for mod reply. It's public that my acc was stolen and sold, and I still can't get it back?
it seems mods dont give a f*** about that, just forget it, they wont even reply.

I won't forget it. Sorry. You will see this post updated for the next years until I die.

I've been waiting since July 2016.

Assuming you had all required proof that the account was yours, how long did it take you to recover it? Not sure if being ignored is just a permanent situation, or whether there is still hope.

Thanks.

Congratulations to Revenant 02, in our internal vote for a winner you won a clean 4-0 so you have won the contest! I've already sent you a PM. To everybody else, please keep your BBCode on hand because we will likely message you soon if we want to use them as well.

Nice work by the designer. You might consider changing the Bitcoin Cash background to green, like the actual logo.

Not outlawing something because "they'll just do it elsewhere" is just silly to me.  Imagine if governments used that same excuse--it'd be anarchy.  I don't think theymos wants to ban account sales, scams, sig campaigns, or anything else because those things bring in a lot of money for him, which is unfortunate.  And Lauda has alluded to even darker motives, which I don't doubt.

Darker motives...such as?

I wouldn't run a node at home though (I don't want my ISP knowing that I am using Bitcoin, which they will know, even if I am using tor), I would instead use a VPS.

But a VPS node is not under your physical control. How do you know it is not compromised, and that it is actually enforcing rules correctly? There is too much trust involved there. You also cannot use this node to transact unless you store your private keys on a foreign VPS controlled by a third party. That seems insane. That means the only value it provides is to bootstrap new nodes -- assuming your node is actually operating honestly.
