1  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Best PDU to break out a 30Amp 220V USA home circuit on: March 19, 2014, 02:44:41 AM
We use APC AP7911 30amp 220V PDUs in our racks, they cost about $130 used on ebay. Most ATX supplies accept either 110V or 220V in so all you need is the C13 - C14 cables.

The PDU is rated at 24A (12 Amps per bank @ 220V) so you can pull about 5KVA from your 30 Amp L6-30p plug.

Our racks draw about 5Kw for 10Mh in hashing power:

Any intention to use Dell D750 Power Supplies like these, vice ATX? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=503423.0

Yes we have several of Sidehack's boards in hand and are working on a modified faceplate to support the Dell power supplies. They represent a huge cost savings over standard ATX supplies as surplus Dell PSU's cost about $12 compared to $200+ for an ATX Gold supply.

We also designed a custom GPU power adapter to wire these up. The Bitrocket GPU power adapter uses a single 2 conductor cable with 30 Amp quick connectors to simplify GPU wiring and eliminate the bulky PCIe power cables.

I like the design.

Thanks algaidaman!

What are some of the card / temperatures that you have seen running various configurations with this chassis?

Cards tend to run around 65 - 72 degrees in this chassis, similar to what we see on our open aluminum frames. The honeycomb mesh allows for excellent airflow and the 120mm fans provide a lot of air movement directly across the cards

Bitrocket Custom Aluminum GPU Chassis
19" Rackmount Chassis for Altcoin Mining

The Bitrocket custom mining chassis was designed to be mounted in standard 19" racks in a datacenter environment, and is geared towards large scale mining. The chassis can also be stacked on top of each other with optional mounting feet.

We designed this custom chassis for our own use are and about to place an order with the factory. The prototype units have been punched and are ready to go into production. We are looking add a few more units to our order to get a better discount from the factory and help cover our NRE (non-recurring engineering) costs.

The Bitrocket custom mining chassis features:
- Custom design for high performance cryptocurrency mining
- Excellent airflow and heat dissipation
- Standard 19" rack mounting in a 6ru form factor
- roughly 10.5" high, 19" wide, 17" deep
- threaded standoffs for motherboard mounting
- GPU mounting tab and card support for 3-5 GPU's
- 3 x 120mm fan mounting holes
- hard drive mounting plate
- ATX power supply mounting holes
- rack mount handles
- strong 12 gauge aluminum

The top and sides are punched in a honeycomb pattern to allow for maximum airflow and are fully removable for easy access to the GPU's, motherboard, and wiring. The Bitrocket mining chassis can be operated with our without the top & sides installed. The chassis supports 3 large 120mm fans to blow air directly across the GPU's for optimum cooling. Three to five GPU's can be securely attached to the GPU mounting tab and supported by the built in card support.

Our initial production run will cost $205 per unit including setup and tooling, however we hope to get the cost down to $165 each in volume.

Please PM me or post here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=516281.0 if you would like to add to our initial production run so we can get our costs down. If our order size reaches 50-100 units we will be able to negotiate a better discount with the factory.

We currently have commitments for 16 units
We will be placing our order with the factory on Thurs March 20th, or sooner if we reach an initial order Qty of 50 or more units.

The cost will be $205 per unit plus shipping, unless we reach the discounted quantity of 25+ cases or more. Our unit cost will be based on how many units we order from the factory, and the final cost will be known before we place our order.

Factory discount pricing based on our total order size:
 5 - 24 cases, $205 each plus shipping
25 - 49 cases, $195 each plus shipping
50 - 99 cases, $180 each plus shipping
100+ cases, $165 each plus shipping

*This includes our NRE and tooling costs for the initial factory order.

- Add $25 each for black anodized finish, and $5 each for optional mounting feet (for stacking)
- Shipping costs are estimated at $30 depending on your location and number of units. Units will be shipped flat packed to save on shipping costs and will need to be assembled.
- Lead time from the factory is 7-10 working days after we place our order. We will be picking up the orders personally and shipping them out the same day to everyone who has confirmed and paid for their order.

We will accept payment in Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dogecoin or Paypal.

If you are interested PM me with:
- Quantity of units you are interested in purchasing
- whether you want black anodized & powder coated finish or plain aluminum (add $25 each for anodized finish)

Guys I received my Aug full kit a few days ago and have been troubleshooting it ever since. It was DOA out of the box due to networking issues (the Gateway IP was set to something like 10.10.2.1). After that was corrected it wouldn't respond on the web server port for some reason. I bought a new router and set it up on it's own isolated network and hooked the raspberry pi directly up to a keyboard and monitor to get that resolved.

The unit has been hashing for two days now but having stability issues. On power up everything starts out at full speed but then it loses hash rate over time. I have optimized the cards by putting the highest rate cards in the first few slots and the worst performing cards at the end. One card stopped hashing completely and was removed.

I have tried two different pools and tried adjusting the difficulty at the pool. It's currently on BTCguild with a difficulty setting of 512. The unit is directly in front of an air conditioner with good air flow across all cards. It's powered by a 760W platinum power supply. None of my other ASIC rigs have this kind of fluctuation in hash rate.

To date this 400Ghash unit has mined less than one bitcoin. Please let me know the next step for troubleshooting.

20  Economy / Securities / Re: [LABCOIN] IPO [BTCT.CO] - Details/FAQ and Discussion (ASIC dev/sales/mining) on: September 14, 2013, 06:06:15 AM
** FRIENDLY REMINDER **

****WARNING to all Labcoin Shareholders****

People there are no traces going to the chips on these circuit boards. There are no decoupling capacitors near the chips and there does not appear to be a ground plane on the board. Ask any of the DIY asic developers here on the forum and they will confirm that these things are absolutely necessary to create a working miner.

I was a big believer in Labcoin but i am completely out now. This is a disappointing end to what could have been a promising venture.

I welcome a realistic explanation from Labcoin but at this point I am seriously warning anyone to invest at their own risk.

Again, this is very serious, and I think the #1 worry for those who dare to hold! I think posting this pic was worse than posting nothing after all, because after reading a bit it looks seriously screwed indeed :-/

I'm not really sure if they're that odd - most of the pins should just be power, and only a few per chip are used for serial IO. What I found quite odd was the fact they seem to have only one discrete component per chip, my guess would be a capacitor

..

And these components only have traces running to one side of the part. There's no sign of connections running to *any* pads on the chips. It's completely impossible for this to be a working circuit board.
