3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Cloud mining of Altcoins, how many khash/s do you get for $100? on: August 25, 2016, 11:45:42 PM
I was thinking of spending some $100 renting a powerful online cloud computer to get a large % of coins soon after a coin launches. How many khash/s do you get for $100?

Is it the cheapest way to mine a coin, using a cloud based service? Also... where is a guide to doing this, am I right in thinking Amazon offers this service? Huh Huh
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Giveaway threads are not allowed on: August 25, 2016, 10:44:38 PM
Most giveaway threads are no longer allowed in the Alternate cryptocurrencies sections. From now on, posting or replying to such threads could result in being banned. Existing threads will be locked.

Specifically, you are not allowed to give people any incentive to post insubstantial posts in your threads. You can't offer to pay people who post their addresses, usernames, etc. You can do giveaways off-site and link to the giveaway page in a thread, but you can't give people any bonus for replying to your thread.

Similar threads are already restricted to Games and Rounds in the non-altcoin sections, but the giveaway-related post volume is so high in the altcoin sections that I've decided to just ban them entirely here.

I have seen a number of 'coin launch' threads where the devs of a coin give out a free sample of coins to those who are first to get a wallet and post an address.

They completely got away with it. Is it frowned upon? Is it just allowed on small scale in the context of coin announcement threads? Or not at all?

Just wondering...
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Easy exchanges to float your coin on: August 25, 2016, 06:57:55 PM
I think most prefer yobit and they also have considered to be good volume for new coin. And they charge comparitively lower than other known exchanger as well as you can also check c-cex.com but they charge around 1.2 btc.

Cheers!  Grin

You could also check out https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/Vote#submission

TUX however will not be taking any coin requests..

Thanks, I'll check it out  Smiley
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Easy exchanges to float your coin on: August 25, 2016, 05:35:59 PM
I'm interested in which exchanges are the best (and easiest) to float a new alt coin onto.

So far my investigations have found:

I'm especially interested to hear from people who have floated coins on an exchange and can relay their experiences, but anyones guesses or knowledge is welcome  Cheesy

you can build pumping group for your altcoin.

Not sure I want to just make a 'pump and dump' coin. I'm hoping for it to at least have good volume and price for a few  months.

What is a signature campaign? Is that paying people on bitcoin talk to have links to your coin under their posts?
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / What is the best way to make an altcoin to get a high volume and price? on: August 23, 2016, 04:00:06 PM
Some methods I have seen include:

  • people pay coins for bitcointalk users to tweet about the coin
  • Creating a community on reddit to make a 'buzz'
  • Creating tipbots for sites such as twitter / youtube / etc
  • Posting about your coin on bitcointalk
  • Making a coin which is technologically innovative (like the blockchain hype nowadays)

Are there any other methods that I've missed? Which are the most effective ways to make a coin valuable and have high volume?

I'm particularly interested in people who have seen something work especially well, putting an alt coin on the map, and very interested in people who have made their own coins famous. What has worked for you? What have you seen working? I would love to know your secrets!
