Hi,

This is a new thread for an auction I started last week.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=237825.0

I am locking the original thread and continuing the auction here for the final two days because I can't seem to edit the original post and I want the top post to reflect the updated, more generous terms (escrow is now optional).

I'm selling two 85 Gh/s avalon machines.  Order #87xx.  Reserve price is what I paid for them, ฿104 each.  Estimated shipping costs will be added to the winning bid depending on where you live.  The buyer assumes full liability for manufacturing delays, shipping delays, or shipping damages.

Within 24 hours of receiving them in New York City, I will ship these machines unopened to the top two bidders.  They are most likely to arrive in the first half of July based on Avalon's recent communications and reports in this forum.  Upon payment you will receive my login credentials to the Avalon store and ticket system, so that you can check shipping status at any time.

We can use John K for escrow - escrow fee (along with estimated shipping fees) will be paid by buyer in supplement to the final bid.  If you don't want to pay the escrow fee on top of the final bid I'm also happy to meet via video chat prior to making the transaction, and/or provide other personal documentation of your choosing.

Auction closes on June 25th, 2100 GMT.

From initial thread, purplesquid and lmontrose are the current top bidders:

I can offer 110 btc for one, unopened, with JohnK escrow shipped via DHL Express shipping to Texas. I will pay escrow/shipping fees.

120 BTC

I will take the other unit for 50BTC.
Reserve price is 104BTC.  Barring catastrophe, I think that breaking even is about the worst case outcome of this investment, what with BitSynCom's facility humming away at this point, so I have no reason to part with them at a loss.

What is your order number?
#87xx

Yes.  Thank you for starting the bidding.

I can offer 215 btc for two, unopened, with local pickup 100% payable in person once units are shipped and picked up. I have several people that will pickup within 24 hours and/or I may be out there anyway.
I'm amenable to local pickup but I would need a deposit at the conclusion of the auction (escrowed, whatever) - at least 10%.

One unit still unclaimed folks!  I'm on the road through Sunday but will be able to answer any inquiries once or twice a day.

I sold almost 100 FPGAs using escrow to more than a dozen people on here.

The worst problem I ever encountered was someone who took a day or 2 to acknowledge receipt of their shipment.  I think if you ship a package with signature required and showing the correct weight you can simply include in the terms that an 'empty box' claim has to be supported by video and you will be fine.
Ok, I'm realizing that escrow is highly preferred around here, so I'm updating the terms to say that John K escrow is acceptable.  I assume he takes a cut; that would be paid by the buyer - eg. if he takes a 5% cut, a 120btc bid would end up paying 126btc (120 to me, 6 to John K).

If anyone has a link to his terms, please share!

escrow?
To be honest, I haven't really explored this possibility in detail.  I see the potential for shenanigans that could mislead the holder of the escrow account and lead to an unfair judgment ("Yes I signed for the shipment but there was nothing inside ...").  I would rather establish a personal relationship with the buyer.  I'd be willing to sign a notarized contract if requested.

That said, if you have a link to John K's terms or something else that works for you, I'd be happy to consider it more closely.

Wow I wish I would have seen this earlier... would have happily bumped it up to BTC100 if there were contenders!
Well, you can get one for BTC104 right here.

Post back here if and when Avalon updates your address, and I'll do the same!
Will do, thanks man!
Avalon has replied to my Batch 3 ticket and fixed my address typo.

Bitcoin fanboys

Out of curiousity, what combined currency/payment processing network/ledger system has your devotion?

You're missing an important point: no person or group issues the currency in Bitcoin. That kind of power is removed from mere human whim and given over to an agreed upon protocol. If you don't like the protocol, you can go start your own.

The bankster cabal would never think to tell us, "Hey, go start your own currency if you don't like ours."

Umm, yes a rather special group does issue the currency in Bitcoin: the miners with enough state fiat capital to invest in the increasingly expensive equipment required to mine Bitcoins.

The underlying Bitcoin implementation is fine, but I find the mining aspect hugely problematic. Bitcoins should been distributed freely to people that want them so as to provide everyone an opportunity to be part of a financial reboot. Sadly Bitcoin went down the road of having engineered inequity and is as morally bankrupt as the system it seeks to supplant.

The answer is to start an alternate cryptocurrency in which the quantity of coins generated follows a sigmoid function instead of a logarithmic function.  That way, more coins are generated as it catches on and more people start to mine.  This also means that prices will be a little more consistent over time - no 10,000 coin pizzas - before it finally starts to deflate and become a store of value.

Contact BitPay, explain what happened and ask them to change the zip code in your order. Also open a support ticket with Avalon and do the same.
Thanks Landstander!  I have sent a token of appreciation to your signature address.

I heard back from Stephen at BitPay within a few hours.  Those guys are fantastic.  They changed the zip code in their records but said that BitSyncom would still have to change it in their order database for the shipment to be addressed properly.

Been waiting about a week for a response from BitSyncom.  Has their ticket system worked for anyone else?  I would imagine we're in a negative feedback loop by now as some people will tend to send multiple increasingly frantic messages after not hearing back, putting Yifu further into siege mentality.  I feel like we should start a donation fund so they can pay someone $25 an hour to go through the tickets.  Strange, I know, but these are extreme market conditions.  Anarcho-capitalists eat your heart out.

I think at this point I wouldn't worry about it until B3 start shipping in June/July.
Their website still says Batch 3 ships starting May 5 - has that been officially pushed back to your knowledge?

Avalon has plenty of support tickets for B1 and B2 customers to be dealt with first.
Is there a webform for submitting support tickets?

Thx!

Hi everyone,

I'm a longtime lurker, discovered bitcoin in 2011, finally registered last week after biting the bullet and ordering 2 85Gh Avalons.

I need your advice.  When I ordered the machines I accidentally entered the wrong zip code (I ordered it to my office address but absent-mindedly entered my home zip code).  Unfortunately the shipping address is not editable because they are trying to discourage the reselling of pre-orders somewhat.  I replied to my confirmation email and asked them to correct that field for me but I haven't heard back in over a week.

I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what is the best way to get in touch with Avalon?  They warn of limited customer service on their order site but I think it's reasonable to ask them to take a couple of minutes to help with this.  Wondering if anyone here has been able to communicate with them using a specific email address or by messaging to a particular user account here or on reddit.

And those of you who received batch 1 shipments through EMS, did you get an email notification when it shipped, and if so were there any options online to eg. hold it at a certain location for pickup?

Any advice would be welcome - thanks guys!
