1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why should people invest in Etherium? on: September 22, 2018, 01:50:28 PM
Etherum is a unique and easy platform to get, especially the cost is not too large, many ico use platforms because it is simple, easy and safe. The value is also quite good, there are many advantages to ethereum if you are able to understand it.

Does it mean the price will rise again?

Why should people invest in Etherium?

Why people still support Etherium?

Please share your opinion

I think the reason is that it has good community support and used by many people.

I'm trying to get the maximum hash possible which requires higher TDP while at the same time attempting to keep heat down.

If I have to roll back TDP because of heat then I will.  Partly why I'm fishing around for heat figures and what is deemed generally good values to shoot for.
You did mind that your cards will reach their life end way earlier if you run them @100%?

I think people make up a lot of these "theories" or numbers.  These cards are designed to run >70.  Either way, most cards have 3-4 year warranties...
Yeah, I'm surprised to see some want to keep the temps below 60°C

I think 60 to 70 degree is fine. That is my target.

Thanks a lot for all your replies.
So I'll just instal the famous AMD blockchain driver and normally everything should be ok for both my R9 390 and my RX 580? (If not, it would be the case with just the latest driver?)

I have the same question. I have the R9 390 and the R9 nano.

You need to buy some.

that is right. NEO is not mineable.

This thread will take a while to get through simply because it has so much amazing information.  It's basically a huge discussion of exactly what you're doing.  It's worth the read.

This will be more interesting once he has the cards to get the configurations, the bioses and so. Until that point, I think he do not need to go throught it all and can just ask it here.

Well that is a major farm on a small piece of property. It is over 100 gpus.

@ the op  how many rigs is your goal?

Three six card rigs? total of 18 cards?

In the winter i was as high as 11 four card rigs and 1 panda miner a grand total of 52 cards.  At that point the heat becomes an issue.  I could have enough power for 100 cards but my wife would try to kill me if I do that.
I wind my mine down  as the hot weather approaches for heat issues and New Jersey power rates Jump up from 12.5 to 16.7 cents four months of the year.
I am down to 8 nvidia and 8 amd cards  using 6 mobos.  lots of room to add cards but that won't happen until OCT.

I have 4 soon to be 7 nvidia 1080 ti's
I have 1 -------------- nvidia 1080
I have 2--------------- nvidia 1070's
I have 1 -------------- nvidia  1060

I have 8 amd rx 480's

I plan to get rid of the nvidia 1060 the 2 1070's and the 1 nvidia 1080

keep the 7 nvidia 1080 ti's
keep the 8 rx 480's

Even at the 17c/kwh, it is still profitable to mine. I think you do not like the heat.

What is the best driver version to mine etc or eth in AMD 7950?  I am asking the question in different thread but no one replied.

The one that gives you undervolting capability with Afterburner or Trix. 15.7.1 works for me.
How to undervolt and is it safe for my gpu? What should i expect from a single and 7950 gpu in eth mining now?

Undervolting is totally safe and it even brings down the heat and power usage. I am getting 15Mh from a 280X, I think you can expect anywhere near that since it's the same chip.

Please share any link to teach me how to undervolt a gpu?

You can use MSI afterburner to undervolt.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: R9 280X - 15Mh/s on: October 15, 2016, 08:08:44 AM
I used to have 2 x 280Xs in my rigs and I sold them on Ebay because they use SO MUCH electricity for a pretty low hash-rate. I had them core overclocked to 1150 and they did 17-18mh/s. Far better to use a 380. With a 380 at core 800, mem 1500 I get 20-21mh/s and using much less power. Or a 290/x at core 1100 mem 1125 gets me 30mh/s but uses a lot of power.

There was some discussion earlier about how flashing a BIOS would void warranty? Who would still have a 280X under warranty anyway? They are about 4 years old aren't they?

If you underbvolt the 390, to about 1.000V and 970MHz, you can get about 27.5 MH/s. But use a lot less power.

930w from the wall.
System : ~75w
=
855w

Split that on six gpus: ~142.5w per gpu from the wall @30Mhs

Still really good numbers. People should stop staring at gpu-z numbers because they are pretty much irrelevant.
The wattage presented in gpu-z is what the gpu itself are pulling, not the whole card.

The GPUZ number is 69W, the actual power consumption is 142W from the wall, or 125W for the card, so the difference is about 55W.

Hello.

I bought an ASUS RX 480 8gb,and an Arctic Accelero IV custom cooler.

Now I have some questions.

a)Can I install the cooler on the card?
b)Will installing it void my warranty?
c)Will it work properly with the 32 mhs bios rom?

Thanks in advance.

If you do not break seal, you can install it. If you need to return the card, you can install the original cooler back. Nobody will notice.
