1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v1.1 on: November 06, 2016, 12:48:22 AM

adasab, you stated "I have a 6990. Use drivers 15.7

And mine ETH with it with his miner software not ZEC. ZEC will run at 2Sol/s per core so 4Sol/s.

With ETH you will get 13MH/s each so 26MH/s total. Almost the speed of RX480 & 390 just uses alot of power.

You can also undervolt them to like 1.0V to save on heat and power"

Thanks man. Is that with Claymores? Which version? Dual miner (ETH & Zcash)? And, where can I get it? Where to mine?

Appreciate your input...James

Claymore

Is there a version of your miner that will work with my HD 6990 cards (essentially 2 6950 or 6970 GPUs on one card)? And if so, what must I do to obtain it, and set it up for my cards?

The AMD driver site said the newest Catalyst my cards could run is 15.9 (not 15.12). When I ran them a couple years ago, they were mining with Catalyst 14.6 (on a mining OS called PIMP-1.5.4-amd-14.6-r2). I am disabled, and have a limited income, and therefore must run what I have. Thank you.

Hi tytanick
I have been following your work. I have mining hardware that I moth-balled a year or two back, and I am just now bringing it back on-lime. I am disabled and have a fixed income, so I had purchased used cards at that time. I didn't mine for very long, as it soon became unprofitable.

What I have is a mineral oil cooled system with 3 (could be 4) Radeon HD 6990 cards (essentially, they are two HD 6950 or 6970 GPUs on one card, each).

The last time I mined with them, I used a Linux based free miner with catalyst 14.6 (PIMP 1.5.4-amd-14.6-r2). I went to the AMD driver site, and they say that the newest catalyst version that will run with HD 6990 cards is 15.9 (not 15.12).

Question: will one of your miners work with my cards if I run 3 or 4 of them (I might have one that is bad).? I would love it, if a Claymores miner would work...I would like to mine Zcash, and maybe some other new-profitable coins like ETH, etc. Thank you.

Hi dbct

Thank you, you've been  very helpful.

I went to the AMD driver site. 15.12 does not support HD 6XXX cards. 15.9 does. Is there any way to update my current pimp-1.5.6-amd-14.6-r2 to mine ETH, Zcash, and other newer coins? Or is there a way to get a copy of the new PIMP with 15.9 or 14.6 (14.6 is what I know works with my cards)? Your current version only supports HD 7XXX and up...

Hi dbct

I looked at the AMD driver site, and when I searched for the best driver for the HD 6990, it showed that the 15.9 was their recommendation. Does that work for the new PIMP Classic miner? And, when you say that I can run 7 cards, do you mean GPUs, since the HD 6990, is actually 2-6950 (or 6970) GPUs per card, and that would mean I could run 3-HD 6990 cards, and maybe one other single GPU card?. Or, does that mean I could run 7-HD 6990 double GPU cards? I run seperate PSUs for each card and the MB, and I run everthing cooled in mineral oil. Also, you said "join us on irc" if I had more questions...I'm kind of a noob (but I learn fast), and do not know what irc is...so...if you could point me in the proper direction, I would most certainly do so. Thank you for you quick response to my previous post. Cheers, James

Hi

I had your free miner a couple years ago, and it worked great with my AMD HD 6990 cards...It was pimp-1.5.6-amd-14.6-r2. I want to start my miner up again mining Zcash and maybe some ETH, and I want to use 3 or 4 cards (HD 6990) this time, instead of just 2 cards. Questions: 1) can my old miner be updated to mine Zcash, ETH, and some of the other new coins, 2) if not, does your new miner support HD 6990 cards, and if so, 3) how many can it support on one machine (3-4 would be nice)?

Thank you, @James83501
