1  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Anti-Bitcoin propaganda on: April 07, 2013, 07:13:31 AM
Bitcoin enables the 99% to take control of their financial future again.

These idiots whining about being the "99%" are lazy pieces of shit. You can clearly see this from all of their bullshit protests and their idiotic signs about how these lazy idiots chose to spend money they don't have or "go to school" for courses that would never get anyone a job, ever, in any country or on any planet. The shitbags pretending they are the "99%" are the same turds who were walking around with Starbucks in one hand and an iPhone in the other.

Do NOT put useful things, like a digital currency that can immediately enable Internet services to become safe and secure (unlike using PayPal), into the same category as the "99%". The "99%" will always be lazy pieces of shit that try as hard as they can to ride on the money that they didn't earn and don't deserve. Cryptocoin is for people who at least attempt to be something useful to society.

If you've got about $20 cash in your pocket you're part of the 1% in global terms.

the truth is there actually right many people use bitcoins for illegal items drugs gyns and worse but isnt that true with things like USD to??? so while theres always a few there are many more legit use's for BTC

the truth is that one cannot buy something illegally. Only stealing is illegal. It is the evil government that declares things as illegal. How can you own xyz illegally, if you have paid for it with your own money?!?

Unless you're buying organs or a slave.

One sentence:

International decentralised credit union that issues accounts in asset-backed scrip.

Is that what you're trying to say?
5  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hi! BitCoin Fully Decentralized Hard Asset Backed Bank! on: April 07, 2013, 05:57:37 AM

The bank then, rather than being solely concerned with gaining money, seeks to gain profits, and redistriute them across the accounts, in a more a humanistic harmonic manner.  Not with One Sole Goal of profits, but to make profits, and share them across the accounts as benefits or bonusus.

As I said wild. But clear.

That's called a 'credit union' which already exists.

Whenever he says you don't understand anything about economics what he actually means is you do, that's why whenever anyone asks any question that shows they know what they're talking about and he doesn't then he calls them stupid and refuses to answer. He's lost interest in responding to you because he knows you're not a mark or a 'sucker'.

He'll never say 'why' you're wrong, because he can't. He is actually well aware he is wrong.

You'll notice in this thread he tries to push anyone critical into communicating with him via email. This is so he can can pretend to have an answer in public, but not make a fool of himself by actually giving one. What he doesn't realise is it's already way past that and he's not even doing damage control anymore, he's just digging himself a bigger hole.

hi,

I opened up the cmd prompt and pasted in exactly

cgminer -n

it says cgiminer is not a recognised command.

Sorry i have no idea how to run cmd line things.

Do i have to somehow point it to the correct prog by telling it the directory

i also tried

start cgminer -n

it seemed to not like that either .

Can u really baby step that part to me.

also, this is even more strange...

i put my friends 7950 in my machine and now the cgminer is seeing 2 gpu

and both the 7950 according to gpz are running at 95% flat out.

also both gpu 0 and gpu 1 are scoring almost exactly the same hash

but both together are getting only slightly more than my laptop which has just intel graphics.

this is really weird, since i think cgminer was always using my first 7950 but hash rate is tiny.

Im not sure what is happening.

You'd need to have cgminer in your PATH or cd into the directory cgminer.exe is. So type: cd c:\whatever\cgminer

Very good points indeed. I anticipated that very few would want to risk doing business with a newbie of this forum. My goal is simply to test the waters, collect data, and perhaps gain a few repeat customers along the way. Thanks again so much for sharing your views.

Even if both you and your buyers were entirely honest Paypal has a history of seizing peoples funds for dubious reasons so it may not turn out good for you in the long run anyway.
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hi! BitCoin Fully Decentralized Hard Asset Backed Bank! on: April 06, 2013, 07:19:39 AM

I never stated that he'd hold or not hold BTC. I just showed how he takes BTC, and accounts for it on his ledger, then how he pays (scams) you back in BTC. His risk is very low, his customer risks are very high.

As another example, about 2 months ago BTC was worth about $25. If you deposited 1 BTC with him back then, your ledger would show $25. Withdrawing today would get you 0.176 BTC before he takes his "fee".

No thanks, I'll hold my BTC today so that tomorrow it's still a BTC.

If he's not holding the deposits in Bitcoin he would need to buy the equivalent value in Bitcoin back to fulfill the value on the ledger. The 1 BTC you deposit with him will be converted into some sort of asset. His ability to pay interest, or even back his deposits depends solely on what assets his 'bank' owns. He's essentially taking bitcoin, converting it to non-bitcoin currency and investing it in commodities, then selling those commodities, using what he made selling those commodities to buy bitcoin which he then gives back to you.

Except, he's stated that he's not going to be investing anyone's money in commodities, he's going to invest the fees. So his operating capital is a small percentage of the value on his ledger; he will have to make far more than 4% on those transaction fees to cover the ledger value.

Likely because HKD isn't very popular to buy.

What he's counting on is that the value of BTC vs other currencies will continue going up.

He gave an example of it, and no one saw it for what it is.

You deposit 1 BTC worth currently $100 (more like $142 right now) today. It gets listed internally as a $100 deposit. When you wish to withdraw your BTC, he converts your $100 into BTC at current market prices. Let's say it's now worth $142 per BTC. You get 0.70422535 BTC (because you only have $100 in BTC on account), but he takes a 2.25% fee from that too. You get back 0.68838028 BTC. In no way do you "deposit 1BTC" and get back 1BTC (unless the value of BTC drops)

Of course he can afford to pay 4% interest. He's betting on BTC growing in value. The only way to get more BTC back is if the value of BTC drops. I for one think we are well past that. When BTC hit $100 it became newsworthy and more people are interested now.

Ok. That makes sense.

Why didn't he post this example when I asked him how he plans to make money?

His response made absolutely no sense to me.

What Slackware has said makes sense, but it's nothing to do with what laffenlarry has said. laffenlarry will not be holding deposits in bitcoin; he believes it has no value.
16  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to get bitcoins from broken hard drive? on: April 06, 2013, 06:33:42 AM
Yes, it is possible to restore it if you can get to the file.
However the question whether You can do it is hard to answer. Misguided retrieval efforts can, in the worst case, cause further data loss.

If I had ~14k riding on a broken HDD I'd be very, very careful with homemade solutions. As gec pointed out, your best bet is to seek professional help, even if it costs you. That's certainly what I would do in your situation.

by very careful, is replacing the pcb safe?

Yes. All his data is on the platters themselves, which he won't be touching. PCB is on the outside, screwed to the bottom.

The authorities aren't going to talk to you Robert, in your words this is a 'fictitious operation' and your clients are 'not real people'. By your very own words you are a liar:

Quote
You had to believe it was real so we could input REAL responses from parties.

It is interesting to note, however, that you did not admit this without the threat of legal consequences. Regardless, the CAFC doesn't prosecute they compile investigative reports. Though part of the RCMP they are an intelligence branch. After an investigative report is compiled, which can take a long time it is then released to the relevant police department who do the actual 'prosecuting' if necessary.

You're not breaking the law 'roleplaying' fake-bank on the internet (you have admitted this is what you are doing). But as soon as you accept any sort of deposit with the intention to pay interest on it, as a business, you are committing a serious crime even if you do pay the interest (which you can't). So keep that in mind.

They may however prosecute you for allegations that you molested an 8 year old boy whilst at Athabasca University in 2002.

You obviously have no understanding of the law; nor how it is used, applied, nor works.

If you did - you would not commit libel.

But thank you for your comment and stating your opinion.

Are you saying they wouldn't investigate and prosecute allegations that Robert Chamberlain molested an 8 year old boy whilst at Athabasca University in 2002?

If you have been brought to having nothing better than slinging malarkey - I am fully satisfied with my positions as presented.

Allege away - but be careful of those things you cannot substantiate.

No-ones making any allegations, Robert. Whether Robert Chamberlain molested an 8 year old boy whilst at Athabasca University in 2002 would be something for the courts to decide.
