1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Does having GPU into monitor too slow down mining? on: June 27, 2017, 09:08:38 PM
To over come the problem of a lagging screen you have to reduce the intensity of the miner but that defeats the object.

Fix = Use dedicated graphics or reduce intensity of the miner.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bricked Rx470 Rig / PC going to black screen / Help Needed Please!! on: May 27, 2017, 05:46:31 PM
Start from the beginning, fresh install using just one card and go from there.

AMD drivers are buggy as hell.. Just make sure you have used the original bios and everything has been reset.

My 480s run at a constant 69 degrees, even the 390 is only running at 70.  No undervolting, standard clocks.  Just open case miner.

Hell I have been running my 280s for 3 years and have not had one fail.  Good air flow!!!

70C is very safe temperature.

Check your VRM temps as well

what are the best drivers to use with rx 580 pls

Latest drivers work fine, both with RX 480 and RX 580

Claymores miner is reading my RX 580 as a RX 480. I have 2 RX 480's as well.  Is this normal?

It is normal.

Ok thank you. I just got this RX 580 in today, the XFX 580 GTR black edition.

After a few minutes i get the error "GPU 0 hangs in OpenCL call, exit"
In which miner then attempts to restart but doesnt.

I think, ok maybe i need to bump up the virtual memory size from 16,000 to 32,000.
Still doesn't work. Same "GPU 0 hangs in OpenCL call, exit" repeats.

So what i did then was take out the 2 RX 480's to see if it will mine on just the RX 580 which it ran fine.

What do you suppose the issue could be?

EDIT 1:Also noticed this in red on the miner just now: GPU #0 returned incorrect data! 208533

EDIT2: downclocked GPU0(RX 580 btw) to 1385, ran for longer. Then GPU1 hung up and  "GPU 1 hangs in OpenCL call, exit" occurs.

Re-Install drivers

I have a rig with 5 7970.
It works well in the last few months with various version of Claymore miners.

At present, after the miner is started and run for some time it shows
"Cannot get Overdrive capabilities for adapter 0 " and then stopped automatically.

You need to use a display on that card, or reinstall drivers.

Sorry to ask maybe on the wrong topic.  I just wanted any opinions of the forthcoming AMD hardware and its possibility to bring forward mining speeds.
580 will come soon but maybe a much bigger move will be Vega in May onwards.

Is Deep Learning relevant to crypto mining or not likely to bring mining gains for the various blockchains?

http://instinct.radeon.com/en-us/the-potential-disruptiveness-of-amds-open-source-deep-learning-strategy/
not sure 580 will change things significantly in performance per watt. More likely next generation Vega will though.

580 cards are the same polaris chip so until Vega we won't see anyting spectacular.

It is a swap from LPE to LPP, chips based on this process will purportedly deliver more processing power in a smaller footprint while sipping less power at the same time.
So the 580 will be more power efficient than the current 480 and slightly faster.
I'm waiting on a bios to see if it will be compatible with the 480 but I doubt it will be.

have you noticed a speed increase of 470/480?

No hash-rate increase for RX480, adjusting intensity settings does nothing for speed.

I think in general just bug fixes for this release.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How can I see the temperature of the GPUs when headless? on: February 27, 2017, 08:22:01 PM
You need at least one monitor or dummy plug per rig if using the same GPU's

Without this the cards are not "connected to the system" so you will not see temperatures or be able to make changes to core voltages etc.

RX480
Increased intensity to 6 from 4, it seems stable. 2 hours less than 1% rejected shares and no random disconnects.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to create 512Kb backup of GPU Bios? on: February 26, 2017, 08:54:40 AM
https://www.techpowerup.com/download/ati-atiflash/

Run as administrator.. I wouldn't advise using 256kb bios file, it needs to be 512kb.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v12.1 (Windows/Linux) on: February 20, 2017, 11:25:01 PM
With 4 x RX 480's I get 290h/s using 1150/1900 with -70mv undervolt and 1500 Timings with intensity set at 4.
Mining is very stable now after some tweaking, previously I had the core set at 1200 which was causing a huge amount of rejected shares, now it's less than 1%

13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Flashing Sapphire rx 480 on: February 18, 2017, 07:28:32 PM
Bios size must be 512kb, if all the cards are the same just use the successful 512kb one you flashed.

Save the bios first using atiflash and you should be fine.

Do not use GPUz or any other program to save the file as it will be corrupted.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v12.0 (Windows/Linux) on: February 15, 2017, 09:38:30 PM
The problem you will find is the pool, on flypool you would get 0.24 zec guaranteed.

Send to an exchange as they are insured for losses, I use https://www.kraken.com/

Ideally I would like to see the price rise to $50 a coin, but yes I am in doubts whether this will be the case in the future.

Free electricity means I am in no rush to sell.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v12.0 (Windows/Linux) on: February 15, 2017, 07:10:34 PM
I'm having 1750.00h/s with 5 290x.  Is this correct? I keep seeing people reporting ~350h/s with 6 480 in the first few pages of this topic...

Depends on the GPU, my reference RX480's are doing 300 h/s

Also, if we want zcash price to rise.. DO NOT SELL
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Optiminer/Zcash v1.6.1 (GPU, Windows+Linux, AMD) on: February 12, 2017, 03:07:26 PM
no speed increase in rx 480 windows 10 64 bit

Use Claymore, it's faster for RX480 on Windows 10

18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How trustworthy is suprnova and zec miner? on: February 10, 2017, 10:22:32 PM
Why is flypool not an option?

They currently won't pay out in zec, so they may be an option soon though.

@bathrobehero Thanks, my hashrate at the pool is higher, like unreasonable so, around 980 average, not getting paid for that though.

Flypool pays zec!! http://zcash.flypool.org

http://whattomine.com/ says my earnings will vary between 0.10 and 0.11 which is bang on, Suprnova has less luck than Flypool so payout will vary.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: rx480 reference 100% fan speed 79 degrees while mining - please help on: January 24, 2017, 11:21:48 PM
Pretty simple really, your GPU is hot, either relocate or drop the power.

Try a can of air as mentioned...

Have you a monitor connected to the GPU?
