1  Economy / Speculation / Re: Stop your BTC cheerleading and mass delusion and face the reality on: December 11, 2014, 11:35:15 AM

Just because Satoshi said it, doesn't make it true, it was just his personal opinion.

You gotta be kidding me. This is the written statement by a man who created bitcoin. You need a head check buddy.

And IBM once said "there is the need for only 1 computer in the world".

Bill Gates once said "we will never make a 32bit operating system".

DEC Chairman Ken Olsen said "no one would want a personal computer in their home".

Your Point?

All the above are very rich and successful people/corporations who made mistakes in their predictions hardly proves anything does it?

I am tempted to wait and see how this pans out. Looks like you need at least 16 chips for a decent hashrate of around 3.7Gh/s around £100 in chip costs. Then there will be the PCB and components so could be looking at around £200 to £300. However given the amount of chips sold and the other ASICs that are possibly coming on line the diffculty could be way up there by the time you are able to mine.

I am going to wait and see where this goes before commiting, you needed to be in early for this.

Chances are these will be selling real cheap in 6 to 7 months time. I can run of free electricity so happy to pick up these later for a reasonable price.

eBay link is down is this not going ahead?

Ebay pulled it because they don't support payment in Bitcoins.

I was happy to do it but I think we have missed the boat on this one.

OK I have started this off. I have listed on Ebay Link here

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=281105126752

Unfortunately EBay would only allow 100 items to be listed which now results in 8.4 BTC per order for 100.

However happy for people to club together orders providing it is only one shipping address I have to ship to.

Hi

Thinking of setting up a UK Group buy for Avalon Chips.

Basic info

40 chip minimum order (this would result in a maximum of 250 batches about the most I would want to cope with, larger orders would be most welcome to reduce batch size)

Would look at 0.085 BTC per chip so minimum order 3.4 BTC this should include UK customs charges and shipping to UK address via standard shipping and packaging. Next day shipping would be extra.

This is for DIY and Hobbyists only but if some of the other projects come along and they can provide PCB's etc it may be possible to build some working units or supply kits, however at this point we are looking at chips only.

Please post if interested and will set this up. I am trusted ebay seller with (308) 100% feedback and also on localbitcoins 2 trades 100% feedback (I know only 2 trades!) as soon as the 782.1 BTC is raised would place order with Avalon at least 230 orders required for this.

Full refunds up to order placed with Avalon. Not taking any payments until enough interest is generated.

Fed up of paying out full price to play the lottery? Want to have a share of a ticket instead?

If so try our lottery syndicate at www.bitfair.co.uk

Only 0.00222 BTC per share! go on give it a go!

Euromillions only at the moment but other UK lotteries will be added at a later date if demand is there.

The basic idea behind the site is two fold - 1. It is fairly difficult to get Bitcoin in the UK and lets face it the chances of winning the lottery is pretty slim so this will enable me to move small amounts of money into Bitcoin. 2. I like playing the lottery but I have been playing so long and had no big wins so I would prefer to have a tenth of a ticket. I will be purchasing 1 share per ticket up to a maximum of 2 or 3 shares, so a maximum of 2 or 3 tickets after that I will only own shares in any of the unused shares of the the last ticket at the close of ticket sales.

Small wins will be paid in Bitcoin so please use an address that can accept payments. Big wins I cannot be sure I can get the Bitcoin to payout with but if it is possible this would be done but please note this may take a while to sort out. The idea would be that you could send your payment requirements (Bank details or Address etc) by a signed message from your Bitcoin address.

Good luck and please give it a go lets hope we have a big win!

12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Butterfly labs are legit. on: April 03, 2013, 11:40:12 AM
I think they are Legit, Yes there have been delays but this is fairly difficult to do otherwise there would be loads of companies doing it. Yes Avalon beat them to it it terms of delivering the first working unit but they are not exactly flooding the market and the latest batch price is 5 times the original price point.

I considered ordering some of Butterfly products but decided to purchase coins instead, short term this has been great, long term who knows. If these units do ship then those lucky enough to be in the first orders will do very well indeed.

For me there were just too many unknowns. For instance 60 Gh/s sounds great but what if the total Hashing power just expands to make this below average? Then there were the delays and now the teething problems. I do hope they get it sorted but I am waiting to see how it turns out before investing in ASIC.
