Hopefully we can discuss the block we find soon.  I am new here but 1430 hours seems like quite the dry spell.

if you look at the https://kano.is/index.php?k=blocks page - you will see our luck is a little higher than 100% for the past 5 but for any other count, we are under 100% and overall (like 2500 blocks) the pool is at 101% so that is pretty good.

that said, I do hope it is soon lol

Ouch! - 1818h since the last block. Hey, that's 75.75 days.
Maybe our LUCKY number?!
Here's to the next block!  Grin

Just wanted to share a bit of good news that happened to me today (and for anyone that has an old Antminer R4) this info could potentially help.
I had an unexpected good event happen on one of my miners today - my old Antminer R4 - you see a lot of them processing at half rate (4THs instead of 8THs) because one of the two hash boards 'goes bad'. Well that happened to me over 8 moths ago on my R4 and today after a power brown-out my other miners never missed a beat and stayed online working away while the R4 appeared to be working (with one board @ 4THs which it has been for the last 8 months and many hardware reboots) but on Kano.is was showing it wasn't processing any shares and hadn't been for over 19 hours. Usually I do a HARDWARE reset by shutting off the main power supply and turning it back on & that resolves the issue. However this time I instead forced a soft reboot in the Miner Configuration Web GUI, and to my surprise - WOW - the 2nd hashing board CAME BACK TO LIFE! Now the old R4 is back to processing at over 8THs! Just thought I'd share some good mining news. Have a good one & mine on with KANO!

Do you have many inputs to add up to the 0.1BTC you're trying to send?  I just setup a transaction of 0.1BTC to see what the txn fee would be, and I got about $4 fee with 9 inputs.  In case you're wondering: Mycelium set for Economic send which now is 54 satoshis/byte

As far as I know (not sure how to count inputs?) I did the transaction the exact same way I have done in the past.
I used the SEND tab on Electrum v3.3.4 and entered my coinbase.com BTC address set the BTC to 0.1 and processed it.
I use Electrum v3.3.4 on my laptop and I have no idea what 'kind' of wallet that coinbase.com uses.  Do you have any recommendations?
Can I CANCEL the transaction? It was initiated less than an hour ago.
Thanks in advance!

Quick question - did mining fees (for executing a BTC transaction) recently skyrocket?
Sent 0.1 BTC (One Tenth of a Bitcoin) from one of my wallets to my coinbase.com BTC wallet address.
I set transaction to process within 10 Blocks & the Minig Fee: was 0.0374815 BTC with BTC @ $5,707.00 = $213.91 USD
https://blockstream.info/tx/5045c32b695df6dd9abc3ef82ed2c82b2aec79b5255f01d5abdb3b50874bd3d5
Needless to say, I nearly fell off my chair when I saw this. In the past transferring 0.1 BTC has only cost a tiny bit like under $5
Thanks to all in advance for any insight into this issue. I'm more than a bit concerned!

I was just curious as to why lately there has been a 3 day gap between live events happening & correspondence being sent from minergain?
Below is a recent example. Block was found on the 7th, and it took 3 days until the 10th for the email notification to be sent.
Sorry about this.  I have not taken the time to dig into this but I am pretty sure that it is sending extra alerts after several days.  I could be wrong but I am pretty sure I received one right away and then other repeat ones later on.  I am kindof swamped with paying work this week but I will check into it next week.

No probs. The late & extra notifications just gets my hopes up (temporarily) that we hit another block here on Kano pool, only to be let down when I go check the pool & no new blocks have been found.  :/
FYI - I just got another email notification regarding that same block (Block 552929).
It's included below.

Not sure what to make of this, but its the first time I've seen the Red Avg line at the BOTTOM of the activity graph instead of in the MIDDLE. Seems strange to me that the average is at the lowest point of activity rather than in the middle somewhere.
Anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks all.

https://ibb.co/DrpbrL6
Looks like the actual 5ND, which the red line is the average of, is going beyond the edge of the graph where there may be some lower hashrates causing the average to be where it is?
At least we got Block Friday off to a start, let's keep 'em rolling!  Wink

I thought the red line represented the average of all the highs & lows (& everything in between) of the graph?

Announcement from Caanan concerning the A8

Quote
821Annoucement

Yesterday in  Hangzhou we announced our Avalon 821, and laid out the roadmap for the 841, 861, 921 and Avalon 10 series.

Avalon 741 is end of life: the last batch is being produced and is promised to customers/distributors who will receiving their final shipments shortly.

Avalon 761, our solution with integrated PSU  is likewise End of Life. The last batch is being built and will ship out in early Jan.

821:  The Avalon 821 will ship at 11 TH (terahash) and 1200 Watts for a power efficiency of 109Watts per TH, a great improvement over the 741 which was rated at 150 Watts/TH.

841: the Avalon 841 will ship at 13TH and 1200 Watts for a power efficiency of  92 Watts/TH. I expect this to be a Q2 Product.

It's too early to talk about the 861 (integrated PSU), the 921 and 10 series, but 2018 promises to be a great year.

821 Prices:   We have not yet settled on price for 821, but it will be driven by market forces and the price of Bitcoin. Demand for product is more than 10X of the supply and the pricing in the spot market clearly reflects this. As well, the price of BTC has drawn in many new customers. As soon as I have pricing I will communicate it to you. Please do not ask for it, we will tell everyone at the same time.

Ship dates: After we finish the last 741 and 761,  the 821 will go into production in January. I wish I had exact dates, but as of today I only have estimates. We should be able to ship to a small number of customers in late January. We will contact the customers who have been selected for January shipment, so please be patient.

In February and March volumes will increase, but be advised that February has Chinese New Year and we will shut down between the 14th and the 23rd.

Distributors:  We are no longer accepting applications for resellers. Given the constraints in supply, we will only add a small number of new distributors. Hopefully in Q2 we will be able to open up the opportunity. If you have signed up, we will be going over our list and making our selections.

New Forecast:  When I have pricing I will be asking everyone to do a new forecast based on the pricing. A forecast is your estimate of how many machines you will order. Do not simply put down a large number to get my attention. We select customers both large and small and if you do not order what you forecast your entire order will be cancelled.

So capabilities outlined but no prices yet.
Looks to be an interesting 2018.

Please forgive me if this has been asked and answered.
Can You chain together an Avalon 821 to an Avalon 841? Not sure if there would be any firmware issues?
Thought I read something here a while back about the problem of chaining different Avalon models together?
Thanks in advance for any input.

Just curious as I see that there are a few changing to the East Coast side of the house. Anyone here from South Florida?

Yep, just one lonely Antminer R4 running @ 8.1 THs here close to the coast - Palm Harbor, FL area.
Been mining with it here @ Kano since the day I got it - just over a year ago.
Hopefully soon to add two Avalon 741's @ 7.3 THs each if they finally ship in Jan 2018.
Looking to bump up my total to 22.7 THs & Mine On!

There will be a DB restart in about 30 minutes, around 12:30 UTC
It will actually be when the zekken shift completes and is processed - which will be about then.

No mining will be affected at all.

The web site and API will reply with lotsa zeros and '?' marks during a DB restart, for about 10 minutes.

This is a minor update to try and deal with the timeouts that occur every once in a while - and I'll now mention the actual cause since I've implemented a way to deal with them Smiley
The rewards and payouts pages go back to when the pool started for some miners.
The data back then gets swapped out of ram and sometimes when a long term miner checks their rewards and payouts, it takes too long to swap back into ram and times out on the web page.
I think the actual cause is if two different people do it at the same time - which would also explain why it's not very common.
This change helps stop that data from ever swapping out, since the DB now runs with a RES footprint smaller than bitcoin and a VIRT size smaller than ckpool, it's OK to stop that data from being swapped out.

I'll post again once the DB restart has completed.
KanoDB restart complete.
Was from 12:31 to 12:37 UTC
Mine on Smiley

Yep, saw that 30 min ago... came here to see what was going on. Thanks for explaining!

Interesting....
I have a gimpy R4 with 1 un-responsive board. Not sure if I ever swapped the controller ports to see if it is blown controller I/O or really a dead card. Will have to try that first.

If the 'dead' board shows up, well I just so happen to have a spare s9 control board from one relegated to being for spares. Some time I really should send the 3 dead hash boards (from different miners) off to MyRig in Colorado for repair/replacement...

Never heard of this 'MyRig in Colorado for repair/replacement'.
Do you know if they also repair controller cards?
Is this https://bitmainwarranty.com/ the company you are referring to?
Thanks

Great to hear! Some more Th/s power to Kano pool, I presume?  Smiley

Yes! Only one R4 kickin' a bit over 8.04 THs, but I plan on getting at least 5 more 7.0+ THs machines up and running b4 the end of next month.

I researched, and started here, and have stayed here.
15  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S9 controller board successfully mining with R4 hashing board / firmwar on: November 29, 2017, 12:40:35 AM
Yup, I've tested it. And it works. Grin S9 controller board, flashed with R4 autotune firmware from Bitmain's website, and a R4 hashing board.

My R4 was humming right along since Dec 16,2016, had already paid for itself & made 1k profit... Then on July 12, 2017 over the course of 24 hours, hash rate dropped from 8.1 to 4.1, so I made the mistake of trying to cold reboot the R4 - now NOTHING. The fan spins at a very low speed and nothing else happens.
Is there ANYWHERE in the USA that will repair these units?
Thanks all.

Make-A-Buck

Moonrackers, THANK YOU BIG TIME for sharing this info!!!
My R4 bit the dust back on July 12, 2017 right b4 I left on a 3 month long vacation!
I had no time to deal with the problem until 2 weeks ago.
Once I stumbled on your post, I went hunting for an S9 controller board & found one for $100 USD.
Installed it, didn't plug in the hashing boards, powered it up, the fan went slow, then fast like it used to b4 it crashed...
Was able to see it on my network & used the Web GUI to feed it my backup config, then flashed the firmware with...
Antminer-R4-all-201704270142-autofreq-user-Update2UBI-NF.tar.gz
from the Bitmain website. Rebooted, and sure enough, it now came up as 'Miner Type: Antminer R4' instead of an S9.
Powered it down, plugged in the two hash boards, powered it up, and about 5 min later, it was BACK ONLINE & hashing at over 8.04THs!
I can't THANK YOU enough for posting this possible fix for a dead Antminer R4. TWO THUMBS UP!!!
I hope others will find this info and give it a try. Heck for only $100 USD it was more than worth the gamble!
Cheers man!

Charging for a repair?  That's ridiculous!  ITS under warranty.  The real problem is with trying to run the unit with only one board is the airflow.  The air takes the path of least resistance and will bypass the heatsinks if you try to take out the other board.  Mine originally worked with both hash boards, but I noticed that it was only hashing on one board.  So the natural thing to do is restart it....DONT!  Then you have to troubleshoot the bad board and disconnect it from the hash plug to make just the one board work.  They should advanced exchange a mining board on something less than 30 days old.  I don't mind paying for the board and waiting for a credit, but to buy something "brand new" and have it not make it 48 hrs is ridiculous.  In any other industry the company would be run in to the ground and no one would support them EVER AGAIN!  Now we know why United States has laws governing too much control of an industry.  Makes me sick I have to work on anything I just paid money for.  Can you imagine buying a new Ferrari and the tire falls off and they say oh we are sorry, please send back your $ 300k car for a month while the value of your new car is going way down so we can do what we should have done in the first place!?Huh

I am not happy.

Bitmain needs to address this issue!  I will pay the .25 btc for a hash board to be sent NOW and then when you get my defective one I ALREADY PAID FOR back then return my .25 BTC deposit.  The difficulty is going thru the roof since they just disconnected all these machines and hooked up their "new in 2 months" to us machines when we pay for those machines.

Does anybody else think this sounds unreasonable?  any other company would advanced exchange the entire unit for a new one *but I understand BTC is a different game.  They would need a deposit....

Please chime in...

Boomin

Is anyone else now having problems with the API?

curl -v https://kano.is/ now gives me this:
...
Check your DNS is pointing to the new web server.
If the DNS is wrong then you'd expect that error.

curl -v https://kano.is/ "works for me" Smiley

There was an SSL problem for a short while back when I moved the web server, but that was fixed back then also.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=789369.msg17682243#msg17682243

Web is unrelated to the last back end server change, coz the web server was moved before that (see link above) - about 8.5 hours before the main server move.
The Android CKPool app just alerted me that my miner hash rate is 0 (Zero)
Logged onto kano.is and it also says 0.
Going to remote access my miner & see if it is running correctly at the colo.
OK... b4 I could even log in remotely, first kano.is says my hash rate is now returning to normal.
Currently 6.7 (My normal is about 8.1) then about 1-2min after that the Android app started to report my hash rate coming back up as well.
Anyone else have a 'bump' in the road for Feb 1st?

Everything has been smooth from what I'm looking at.  Mine checks every 60 seconds.  It will alert me if there is even a small drop in my hashrate and I didn't get any alerts (it is really sensitive).  Maybe a brief net/power outage at your colo?
That's the one thing that I can't rule out is a brief internet outage. However, the strange part is that I was able to remotely get to my miner, so either the outage was very brief, or something else went wrong for a min or two. My miner shows uptime of over 18 days, and it appears to have used BOTH fail-over mining pools configs... (usually the fail-overs never get used - there was a mining pool outage that was announced within the last day or so)
