1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If confirmation takes 10 minutes, how will I buy coffee at Starbucks? on: December 16, 2013, 09:42:13 AM
For most, that is damn near impossible... I don't know of any independent coffee shops near me that take BTC. In fact, i don't know of any brick and mortar stores near me that do. To date, i have only been able to use BTC online.

Happy spending or investing!

My advice? The price is cheap! Buy as much as you can!

I concur.
I think the market is a bit soft right now. We may dip even further to the ~$50 range but if your buying for long term, you should be fine. I expect to be closer to $100 before years end.  another boom by next spring! Wink

8  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC excitement is over, value going down. on: July 02, 2013, 02:42:06 PM
If Bitcoin ends the year at 100 USD, we are lucky. After the 2011 bubble, it fell from 31 USD back down to 2 USD. A similar fall would bring us to 17 USD. But as the top was less extreme this time, the fall will also be less steep. As long as nothing special happens, we will see a continuing downtrend and end the year somewhere between 50 USD and 100 USD. In 2015, when media will have forgotten about Bitcoin again, we will be ready for the next bubble which will bring us to over 1000 USD.
I was all the time planning on $100 by beginning of 2014 and I would consider anything beneath that a great buying opportunity.

A fall to $17 won't cause me to even break a sweat even though I bought in higher because it is just a great chance to get to BTC100 at which point I will be more than happy to withdraw from buying and hoarding and be happy with having my entire pension secured and I can pretty much cross that worry off my list.

The next bubble will surely bring us over $1000 by 2015, but I think another drop will be in store and we will be back up to $1000 by 2016.

This is all assuming the fiat-based economy keeps muddling on. If it doesn't, Bitcoin will skyrocket faster than even the most bullish bulls ever imagined.

For your sake, I hope you are right! Smiley

11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin was bought for the first time? on: June 28, 2013, 12:17:33 PM
I think the answer your looking for is FAITH.
The first person to sell PIZZA for Bitcoin had FAITH that he could use that bitcoin to purchase something as well... if not immediately then in the very near future..

Faith and TRUST are the back bone of MOST currencies, not just BITCOIN.
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think Bitcoin will be used to pay employees? on: June 25, 2013, 03:38:12 PM
So, do you think companies will use Bitcoin to pay their employees in the future?

I'm not sure if there are companies that already do that, but I haven't heard of anything.

As for US based companies (on a large scale), I don't see it happening anytime soon and probably NOT in my lifetime. It would take a serious economic crash, much worse than the US has ever seen, to incur a shift in monetary currency.  On a small scale, sure.. it could and likely will happen.  I could easily see a small (<10) employee internet based company offering btc as wages vs USD.
13  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BQC Market Reaction on: June 19, 2013, 05:49:03 PM
I think it really depends on what the buyer does after the fact.  If he hoards the 1 mill BQC then supply will remain Low which initially will create a bump in demand and price. However, over the long haul, I don't think BQC will hold water and the buyer will be forced to sell at a loss.. causing the price to plummet.. and never recover..   JMO

If the buyer buys with intentions of selling soon after, he will make an initial profit but will probably sell at a loss before the entire 1 mill allotment is sold off.. breaking even is probably a long shot..

15  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: First Class Airfare Bookings for BitCoins on: June 10, 2013, 04:48:01 PM
Obviously this is non anonymous since I will need your passport information.

I'm selling Round Trip Airfare for BTC. The airfare will be booked by me for you. You can reverse the continent pairs (i.e. USA/Europe is also Europe/USA)

USA <-> Europe 40 BTC
USA <-> Asia 60 BTC
USA <-> Africa 50 BTC
USA <-> Australia 60 BTC
Europe <-> Australia 50 BTC
Asia <-> Australia 40 BTC

The first class ticket will be in your name. You'll have a choice of airlines, I work with both OneWorld (Such as Cathay Pacific, British Airlines, Quantas, American) and Star Alliance (Singapore Airlines, ANA, Lufthansa, Swiss, Austrian, United).

This is true first class service, Champagne, Caviar, 5 course meals...Some of the airlines even off first class suites, where you have your own private space on the plane.

Escrow is always an option and can be left open until you complete your trip.

PM me for details.

Once the reservation is made, you can call the airline directly to make changes and confirm things. You will not need me to call them for you.

good idea but I for one would prefer coach. NOt because I don't like first class, I just don't think its worth the price.  If I were you, I would think about providing an option for first class, business class and coach.  Smiley
16  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Insane Prediction for difficulty increases on: June 10, 2013, 04:44:52 PM
I hypothesize that difficulty increase will DOUBLE every 40 days from now until the market is flooded with ASICs

If we use this as a calculation for the difficulty rate in September we get:

15,000,000 x 1.20 ^ 4 =  31,104,000 (difficulty on 16/06/2013)

31,104,000 x 1.40 ^ 4 = 119,489,126 (difficulty on 26/07/2013)

119,489,126 x 1.80 ^ 4 = 1,254, 349,053 (difficulty on 1/09/2013)

These calculations presume that:
120 days till September
12 lots of 10
every 10 days difficulty increases
every 40 days that increase doubles

I hope i am wrong but at these levels even a 350Ghz miner in September wont really be a profitable ROI, even if the price of BTC was 350 USD

It could be some miners are hoping for a breaking point.. ie, it becomes so HARD to mine that MOST miners get out leaving only a hardcore group and eliminating some of the difficulty.  I for one do not think difficulty will continue to climb.. eventually it will go down and only those few left mining will reap any rewards..
17  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: I can't wait to get a BFL on: June 10, 2013, 04:42:03 PM

More down to earth - The huge benefit to the BFL machines is the watts used. Should the BTC price go down substantially, they will still be relatively cheap to operate as the watts per Gh is very low relative to the competitors.

True, but that is a big if.. I don't think BTC ever gets below $50 again.. JMO
18  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Now is YOUR Chance! on: June 10, 2013, 04:39:31 PM
Price is back up, $106, from $88 drop. NOW IS THE TIME to BUY BUY BUY! If you want any chance of making a great return. Sunday drop was nothing more than manipulation, not a panic sale. I purchased at $89, where will you buy at?

BUY BUY BUY!

If you were planning on buying cheap, that boat sailed several months ago.

$89 is a good price, you could sell now for a small profit or hold for an even bigger one. I suspect we see $125 before we see $88 again.  JMO
19  Economy / Speculation / Re: you guys seeing this!!! some one just bout thousands of btc. on: June 10, 2013, 04:35:45 PM
Welcome to the United State Goverment people! Who else would have the power to manipulate the price like this, and the motive to do so?? All those tax free transactions are eating at then, and they can't take it anymore!!

Or not.  Anyone with $10M can easily manipulate the Bitcoin market.  That won't change until the markets are much deeper and much bigger.  It hardly takes the resources of a nation state and certainly not the United States.  Somolia central bank would have the resources to push the Bitcoin market around.

Perhaps, but anyone with $10M probably wouldn't even care to. JMO
20  Economy / Speculation / Re: One day, holding one bitcoin will make you a millionaire. on: June 06, 2013, 03:53:03 PM
Not likely but I will say this;
If you don't think something like this is possible, you have NOT been paying attention...

One day you won't be able to exchange BTC for any real money cause Governments and NWO will shut down exchangers and nobody is going to trade with you face to face in fear of under cover raid.

Actually BTC could probably become illegal just like other certain stuff that is illegal to possess on your hard drive. So make sure you have it encrypted (TrueCrypt is free and very good) with a huge 50+ character password including symbols and numbers to make it impossible to brute force in 1000 years, else if they find your BTC wallet you'd probably get 25 to Life for conspiracy to over throw Governments and NWO, labeled as national security risk, and put on no fly list.

Yes, this is our future. Sticking your head in the sand, or putting your fingers in your ears going "la la la..." won't stop it from happening. Some day, you'll wake up.

For the people doing BTC as an investment to make money, the time to cash out is not before the next crash, or the crash after that, but to cash out before you can't cash out anymore, regardless of value. But heck, even if you cash out the day before, nothing to stop the government from tracking and logging whats been going on for a while, and freezing bank accounts from everyone associated with BTC exchangers, etc. Oh can't happen? Look at Liberty Reserve.
