1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Honey HNY - 1hive project on xDAI Chain on: October 23, 2020, 07:26:53 AM
a good project for those who like to mine, who are converted to farms, risking the amount they will get, the farm is very trendy at this time, it's just that the fee for eth is still high because many have switched to the BNB chain, it will recover shortly again and the community will be active again in the eth network

The fees for the hny.farm are about $0.0000001ct for swapping, pooling, staking, and harvesting. Together! No way that ETH will ever have such great fees. You can compound the HNY farm or switch farms daily virtually without cost, it's amazing and addictive!

It looks great, congratulations. Due to different timezones, will there be a storage/archive of streamed performances for those who can't see the stream live?

Share difficulty was bumped to reduce load on the server.

Is this why there is no old block info on http://yac.dontmine.me/statsAuth ?
How long will it take for blocks to mature/ credits to be added?
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN][YAC] YAC Simple Pool [LP][Testing] on: May 10, 2013, 01:42:36 PM
I should have fixed the dropped connections. I hadn't whitelisted my forwarders, oops!

Yep, it's better now, thanks.
I got it running on Win7 64 and on Ubuntu (in VMware). Both take 50% cpu and connections are good on both.
Interestingly the virtual Ubuntu has double hashing speed and much higher amount of accepted shares (10-20 times more), not sure why.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN][YAC] YAC Simple Pool [LP][Testing] on: May 10, 2013, 01:25:39 PM
Also getting a high reject-count (roughly 25% on both machines) coupled with periodic disconnect messages. Running on Ubuntu (both native & in a Win7 VM). Tried several of the servers.

accepted: 8138/8319 (97.82%) for me on the local connection, so I think 502 is related to yac.dontmine.me and mineyac.dontmine.me , try mineyac3 it's not cloudflare

Nope, similar results:

people should come on the linux side Smiley seems to have more support now Smiley and faster performance  Cheesy

At least more support here  Wink, but still a major pain in the behind imho.

Anyway, had it run for 8 hours on 4 cores, no transactions (no blocks and no orphans). Here is my info and stats/speed, does this seem right, i.e. am I actually mining something? (CPU is definitely used for it).

Thanks. Strange, I freshly downloaded vmware player and installed it 3 hours ago, but it is version 5.0.2 build-1031769 ?!
Got it from https://my.vmware.com/web/vmware/free#desktop_end_user_computing/vmware_player/5_0 , where did you get the 9.0.2 version?

Nevermind, I noticed that the free player version is version 5, the $119 upgrade will get me the workstation 9 version.
Now how many Yacs do I need to spend $119 ;-)

Ha. I found out that the VMware vitrual Machine has a standard setting that uses only one CPU core... When trying to raise this to 6, it tells me that I need to upgrade. I can change it to 4, and it seems to re-initiate. But no difference in CPU usage.
Only after completely rebooting Virtual Machine and Ubuntu in it, I could use 4 (out of Cool cores and can now mine with 50% CPU  Tongue

Still not sure if I am actually mining correctly.

Hope this helps someone...

Which VMWare version are you using?
I am using 9.0.2 build-1031769 it supports all 8 cores, I advise upgrading it.

Thanks! Ah, that makes sense in a weird, Linux kind of way ;-)

I have a hashcount but it seems only one core is hashing (of my 2600k I7, which has 4cores/8threads. I only have 12-13% CPU usage. Are the number of cores used hardcoded somewhere? Or can I change it in the yacoin.conf?

EDIT: I tried adding genproclimit=7 to the yacoin.conf file, but no difference after restarting. Also tried by restarting with
me@ubuntu:~/yacoin/src$ ./yacoind -daemon -gen -genproclimit=7 -addnode=82.211.30.212
me@ubuntu:~/yacoin/src$ YaCoin server starting

But still only 12-13% CPU usage and about 65khash/sec?

did the wallet sync all the blocks? you can make a gui version of the wallet too Smiley

Try genproclimit=-1

Thanks, I tried genproclimit=-1, both in .conf as well as in the command, but no difference (12-13% usage only)?
I am not sure if all the blocks have been synched, how do I find out? Getpeerinfo gives me 8 peers; Checkwallet gives "true", but no other info.
And yes, a GUI version would be most welcome, how would I do that?
Thanks

Thanks

sudo apt-get install libcurl4-openssl-dev

Damn, linux is hard isn't it?

Yep, damn hard to figure it out. Autoconf and automake to follow. Downloading and compiling source tarballs must be a rocket science for average user these days.

Thanks Limitless, but "libcurl4-openssl-dev is already the newest version" , so that doesn't explain the errors.

And no, I would not consider myself an average user, as I was already working for the first Crypto currency company in 1996, and have built and ran many websites past 15 years on Linux servers, but PHP etc make a lot more sense to me than the confusing linux commands.
As long as that does not change, even the wonderful (really!) Ubuntu will play 3rd fiddle after Win and (heaven's forbid) OSX.. Anyway, any help is appareciated, whether it is my low intelligence or the rocket science level  Cheesy

Thanks. I got permission, but noticed that there are a bunch of hidden folders that I need to show, including .yacoin...   Cheesy

Anyway, I created the yacoin.conf file with added instructions as on www.yacoin.org, thanks for the link.

Now I started it (?) with  ./yacoind -daemon -gen -addnode=82.211.30.212 and it says:
"YaCoin server starting", nothing more, nothing less.

- I assume it will need to download the block chain?
- How will I know if it is mining and how do I know when a block is found
- I have not entered my YaCoin address anywhere, how would it know where to deposit it? (I have it running under windows, but I assume I have a separate wallet unde Ubuntu.) If it uses my address automatically, how do I access the Ubuntu wallet to see the balance and to transfer them?

Sorry for all the questions, but I assume I am not the only one. Many thanks.

cd ~/yacoin/src/
./yacoind help

that will list all the commands you can send to the yacoin wallet.
./yacoind gethashespersec
will show you your speed
./yacoind listtransactions
will display all your transactions Smiley

The conf file needs to be in ~/root/.yacoin/yacoin.conf

That is, if you login as root.

it has to be in ~/.yacoin/yacoin.conf

read http://www.yacoin.org/

I always login as root so the home dir is /root/

run
sudo chown yourusername:yourusername * -R
again. seems you misused sudo once Smiley (or several times) ;-)

Hehe, I probably sudo'd myself to linux-hell.

Anyway, chown-ed again, same result:

me@ubuntu:~/yacoin/src$ make -f makefile.unix results in:
......................... boost_program_options -l boost_thread -l db_cxx -l ssl -l crypto -l miniupnpc -Wl,-Bdynamic -l z -l dl -l pthread
/usr/bin/ld: cannot open output file yacoind: Permission denied
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [yacoind] Error 1

When trying with
me@ubuntu:~/yacoin/src$ sudo chown me:me * -R

me@ubuntu:~/yacoin/src$ sudo make -f makefile.unix I get
/bin/sh ../share/genbuild.sh obj/build.h
..............................
boost_program_options -l boost_thread -l db_cxx -l ssl -l crypto -l miniupnpc -Wl,-Bdynamic -l z -l dl -l pthread
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lboost_filesystem
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lboost_program_options
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lboost_thread
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [yacoind] Error 1

This is getting annoying, appreciate your assistance.
try
sudo apt-get install libboost-all-dev

That seems to have worked, as it finished without errors. Yacoin server started, Ubuntu won't let me make a yacoin.conf file in the Yacoin folder (I can make it outside).
- How come I don't have the permissions and how do I get them?
- WHat else (besides the random RPC user/pass) do I need to put in the .conf file?

Thanks again!

So it's simple.

If you're using linux, first make sure you have libcurl install, you can get this by installing

Quote
apt-get install libcurl-dev for ubuntu and debian users
yum install curl-devel for the rest

For compiling in linux, the steps are:

Quote
git clone https://github.com/ali1234/cpuminer

cd cpuminer

./autogen.sh

./configure CFLAGS="-O3"

make

make install

Then to run it, you need to have the daemon running.

An example of ~/root/.yacoin/yacoin.conf:

Quote
rpcuser=randomuser
rpcpassword=yourgivenpassword
addnode=82.211.30.212
addnode=78.21.9.49
addnode=88.204.169.242
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcallowip=[any ip that will be mining on your server]
rpcport=9323
port=7688
daemon=1
server=1
gen=0

To mine on the machine that has the daemon server running, simply type:

Quote
./minerd -o http://yourdaemonmachine.com:9323 -u randomuser -p yourgivenpassword -a scrypt-jane
Quote
./minerd -o http://127.0.0.1:9323 -u randomuser -p yourgivenpassword -a scrypt-jane

Hopefully someone can add this together to make a complete Yacoin mining guide.

I get stuck:

"me@ubuntu:~$ sudo apt-get install libcurl-dev
[sudo] password for me:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package libcurl-dev is a virtual package provided by:
  libcurl4-openssl-dev 7.22.0-3ubuntu4.1
  libcurl4-nss-dev 7.22.0-3ubuntu4.1
  libcurl4-gnutls-dev 7.22.0-3ubuntu4.1
You should explicitly select one to install.

E: Package 'libcurl-dev' has no installation candidate"

How do I explicitly select one?

When ignoring and continuing I get:

me@ubuntu:~$ git clone https://github.com/ali1234/cpuminer
Cloning into 'cpuminer'...
remote: Counting objects: 1136, done.
remote: Compressing objects: 100% (676/676), done.
remote: Total 1136 (delta 548), reused 1028 (delta 456)
Receiving objects: 100% (1136/1136), 827.16 KiB | 104 KiB/s, done.
Resolving deltas: 100% (548/548), done.

So that seems to work. Then:

me@ubuntu:~$ cd cpuminer
me@ubuntu:~/cpuminer$ ./autogen.sh
./autogen.sh: 8: ./autogen.sh: aclocal: not found
me@ubuntu:~/cpuminer$ ./configure CFLAGS="-O3"
bash: ./configure: No such file or directory

Why?
Next error:

me@ubuntu:~/cpuminer$ make
make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found.  Stop.

Running Ubunto on a VMware on Win 7 64bits. Any help appreciated!

Thanks! I added:
sudo apt-get install libssl-dev

But now I get
"make -f makefile.unix
g++ -c -O2 -msse2 -pthread -Wall -Wextra -Wformat -Wformat-security -Wno-unused-parameter -g -DBOOST_SPIRIT_THREADSAFE -I/home/me/yacoin/src -I/home/me/yacoin/src/obj -DUSE_UPNP=0 -DUSE_IPV6=1 -DSCRYPT_KECCAK512 -DSCRYPT_CHACHA -DSCRYPT_CHOOSE_COMPILETIME -DHAVE_BUILD_INFO -fno-stack-protector -fstack-protector-all -Wstack-protector -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2  -MMD -MF obj/alert.d -o obj/alert.o alert.cpp
alert.cpp:244:1: fatal error: opening dependency file obj/alert.d: Permission denied
compilation terminated.
make: *** [obj/alert.o] Error 1"

Any tips. Sorry, but still Linux noob here, but learning fast.

sudo chown yourusername:yourusername * -R

Thanks. One step further:

make -f makefile.unix
/bin/sh ../share/genbuild.sh obj/build.h
g++ -c -O2 -msse2 -pthread -Wall -Wextra -Wformat -Wformat-security -Wno-unused-parameter -g -DBOOST_SPIRIT_THREADSAFE -I/home/harry/yacoin/src -I/home/me/yacoin/src/obj -DUSE_UPNP=0 -DUSE_IPV6=1 -DSCRYPT_KECCAK512 -DSCRYPT_CHACHA -DSCRYPT_CHOOSE_COMPILETIME -DHAVE_BUILD_INFO -fno-stack-protector -fstack-protector-all -Wstack-protector -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2  -MMD -MF obj/checkpoints.d -o obj/checkpoints.o checkpoints.cpp
In file included from checkpoints.cpp:10:0:
db.h:14:20: fatal error: db_cxx.h: No such file or directory

What next?
sudo apt-get install libdb++-dev

Thanks a lot guys, much appreciated. It made a lot of stuff, but still got an error at the end:
"/usr/bin/ld: cannot open output file yacoind: Permission denied
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [yacoind] Error 1
"
I thought I already had all permissions needed?
