I don't know. If true, this wasn't a snide comment to a reporter, this was a question asked of Eric Scmidt. I'm very curious about who introduced the topic and in what context.
The only thing that's missing in the article is the answer by Eric Schmidt...but the point is: Obama is thinking about bitcoin, probably who introduced it to him was the daily intsums or whatever they're called he gets from the agencies, probably from the FIB because of that whole Silk Road thing.

I can't believe people are still writing this kind of articles in July 2013 In the end, however, I expect that Bitcoin will fade back into the shadows of the black market. Those who want a regulated, secure currency that they can use for legitimate business transactions will pick from one of the many currencies already sponsored by a national government equipped with ample resources, a real-world economy and far more transparency and security than the Bitcoin world can offer. After the Bitcoin bubble bursts, we won’t even be able to use the leftover coins for jewelry. http://wallstreetpit.com/100662-in-bitcoin-we-trust/

I bought 9 shares(900 mpex ones) in havelock the day prior to the announcement, not a great amount of money but a good deal, considering I received more than 1.5 times what I paid for them.

Mining is just one part of Bitcoin.
And not the most important. What is the most important? Network honesty, but that also includes miners, so mining is part of the most important part of bitcoin.

This surprised me a bit, I wasn't expecting pyramining to update on the state of things...And he seems to be quite solvent, judging by that offer he made about depositing 50% of up to 4000BTC deposits. It looks a bit pirateat40ish I think
I think he means that he will do the 50% sponsoring up to 4000 BTC total deposits, as he also says he has 2000 BTC for this campaign. ... So: on every account containing at least a total of 10 BTC in ASIC deposits, up to 4000 BTC deposited from now until 31st December, I will deposit 50% of the total amount with my personal funds using that account as a sponsor. I have at least 2000 BTC available for this campaign (not counting those already allocated for those who took advantage of this promotion until now). ...
So not every deposit of say 4000 gets a 2000 sponsor, but deposits from 10, up to a total of deposits of 4000 BTC, meaning he has to invest 2000 BTC in total. This is not unrealistic. Thank you, I misread it.

You could probably get a older:
Volkswagen Passat Rover 75 Renault Megane Alfa Romeo 156 Mercedes-Benz E200 Jaguar X-Type
Fyi, I'm using Great Britain prices on autotrader.co.uk. I guess that prices might be different in your country.
An Alfa GTV6 3.0 would be even better, a bit old but really punchy

But the US is not the center of the universe.
No, but other countries will soon follow suit. Don't underestimate the US gov's ability to influence financial law in other countries. Not if other countries tell you USAians to fuck yourselves in the arse. Watch this(it has subtitles): http://youtu.be/9gF5MraRO60
