1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: FeatherCoin - New Litecoin based coin on: April 29, 2013, 04:26:08 AM
Originally posted in the Newbie section (posted only for reference, the content is below: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=190398) but now I have access to the rest of the forums Smiley

I'm just wondering if anybody else is having issues with p2pool.org and FeatherCoin. I'd been mining for about 50 minutes (~500 KH/s according to cgminer) and I had 20 shares accepted, 1 rejected, and a whole bunch of "Stratum from pool 0 detected new block" and "Stratum from pool 0 requested work restart". According to p2pool.org, I was mining at 0.362 KH/s. I'm not seeing much of a point to mining in a pool with FeatherCoin if I'm effectively running over 1000x faster on my own.

I've copied the cgminer script I use for LTC and only changed the host, username, and password, so there aren't any config issues. Anyone know what's up?

Yay! A pointless post towards my five-post requirement to get out of the newbie section! I'd rather there be another way like summarizing a paragraph to prove I'm human, but oh well.

4  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Butterflylabs Huge SCAM on: April 07, 2013, 10:43:35 PM
Correct me if I'm wrong (seriously, please do - I don't remember where I read this) but isn't there a law in both the US and Canada that effectively states it's illegal to charge someone for a product until it's ready to ship? Or perhaps it was more to the effect of it's illegal to use preorder payments to fund the manufacturing of a product.

I have no source to back myself up on this, I just vaguely remember reading at one point. But *if* that happens to be the case, and that's what BFL is doing, isn't that a wee bit of a problem?

export DISPLAY=:0

That actually solved my problem - thanks! Any idea why that's required for the temperature, fan-speed and memory settings?

I don't know if he/she is using linux, but if you have access to the other forums, you might want to suggest that in https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=167165.0 (it's the reason I joined this forum).

So I've started playing around with cgminer on Ubuntu 12.10 with a 7970 (using AMD/ATI's drivers). During my first run of cgminer, I noticed that it had temp and fan-speed fields, and I also had the option to change clock speeds and voltage. I had to reboot my machine because cgminer didn't exit when I told it to, and the CPU usage spiked to 100%. After the reboot, the temp/fan-speed indicators, as well as the section of settings to change voltage and clocks were gone. I've tried rebooting twice since then, and I've tried deleting all the .bin files in the directory (just in case).

I *have* been playing around with different options, so I guess it's possible that there's an option I only used the first time. If it matters, here's my command (username and password removed):

./cgminer -I 13 -o stratum+tcp://coinotron.com:3334 --scrypt --shaders 2048 --thread-concurrency 8192

Oddly, other people mention setting thread concurrencies of 20k+, but mine won't even handle 16k without complaining.

Anybody have an idea of what's going on here?
