It's not as easy as just creating a new account like it was pre-merit days.
They have no problem to get the merits needed to rank up.
Says the person who received zero merit in ~18 months....

Am I looking like someone who gives a fuck about getting merit? Lulz
I am not as active in the forum as many of you, I'm not interested to rank up either,
If this account was one of them do you think I would be stupid enough to post this

3  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-5-16] AMAZON FILES PROOF-OF-WORK PATENT USING CRYPTOGRAPHY on: May 17, 2019, 07:29:20 AM

Quote
Thus, the expense of resources in creating a valid solution could deter malicious entities from attempting denial-of-service (DoS) or other attacks. Amazon, in the guise of its Amazon Web Services arm, has been rather active in the blockchain space. It claims to be simply responding to demand from its existing customers. However, thus far it has stopped short of cryptocurrency integration into its core business. From this, we can draw the conclusion that it is prioritizing the demands of corporate customers rather than end users. Towards the end of last year, it revealed two interoperable blockchain-inspired products, aimed at healthcare, supply chain, and other industries.

Source: https://bitcoinist.com/amazon-files-proof-of-work-patent-using-cryptography/

What is so clear with this development is that Amazon is working with the blockchain technology and experimenting how it can help in areas that it is concerned with. Essentially, they want the blockchain but so far not yet bitcoin as of this time. Amazon is pushing for the crypto but not the currency, as what the article above described this filing of the patent. Still, many are hopeful that soon Amazon can see the beauty of offering its buyers to use bitcoin.

Amazon doesn't care about cryptos and Amazon already has its own blockchain as a service

I changed the ban to 60 days + 1 year sig ban seeing as it's a post from years ago and you seem to have contributed decently since.

A sig ban is useless. People are naive
A lot of the banned users are already using another account and they won't come back to use the previous

Good luck to them trying to build a high ranking account from scratch. It's not as easy as just creating a new account like it was pre-merit days.

And do you think, they didn't anticipate this before? Do you think they have only 1 account here? No, they already have other ranked accounts.
They just leave the previous and use another.

6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why Bitcoin use the elliptic curve secp265k1 in his crypthographie? on: May 13, 2019, 12:36:11 PM
Isn't it the fastest curve and also the most secure against backdoors?

8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Recent Bitcoin Volatility due to Binance Hack ? Market Manipulation on: May 13, 2019, 11:45:02 AM
It started before the Binance hack, and it was small for an exchange like Binance. Nobody talks about but I think one reason could be Fidelity. Quite possible.

Cheers.

Hello nc50lc. I know RBF but I am not interested in, I thought OP was clear
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Question about cancelling a transaction on: May 09, 2019, 06:06:58 PM
mocacinno and ETFbitcoin, Thank you, I just wanted to test but look like I will waste my time. I have been confused because the quote in my first post is old from 2017. So I was puzzled, especially since it was about solutions to cancel a transaction and I read the same in another place.

Last questions

- HeRetiK says it worked before, I'm not old in BTC enough but when it stopped to work, approximatively of course.
- while reading the forum, I found this topic https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2269914.0
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Question about cancelling a transaction on: May 08, 2019, 12:27:26 PM
Thanks
I'm going to make a transaction and wait until tomorrow or Friday to try this. What do you call minimal odds, less than 50% chance?
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Question about cancelling a transaction on: May 08, 2019, 12:09:43 PM
I have a question about how to cancel a transaction using the double spend with a higher fee (Yes I know about RBF too)

Quote
Most miners and wallets have safeguards against double spending, though, so there’s still a large chance that this method may not work.

I just want to know if it's still relevant or it works.

Thanks
13  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-04-25]Bitcoin Daily Transactions Skyrocket to 400,000 on: April 25, 2019, 04:46:32 PM
There are several differences between these two periods of 400k daily transactions as well. The most obvious is that mempool is nowhere near as congested and blocks are bigger, with more transactions... suggesting that blocks are more efficiently filled (thank you SegWit).

With Lightning as well, we're seeing people take more txs off-chain (not to mention higher use of external wallet-to-wallet transactions that are completely off chain. OTC volume is also climbing, again, off chain.

So we're seeing 400k, I wonder what we're not seeing?
Isn't there something with VeriBlock spamming the mempool?

The forum is not over moderated, you are just not happy because they moved your thread in a more appropriate section

15  Other / Meta / Re: @theymos It's time to make blacklist for upcoming DT selection. on: January 30, 2019, 03:34:06 PM
Knowing people buy, trade, or call it as you want, merits, why to create a system using the "corrupted" merits.
Some members were hiding in their cave before and when this new system came up, they act like the only police here. they are arrogant, abusive and not friendly at all.
Few smart members start to understand this, and it's not what they want, don't worry it's not finish yet

Seems not only subject to remove Lauda, there are more well reputed DT on exclusion list. Nevermind they have exclude me, I don't care about it since I am not doing anything wrong. But manipulate on publicly is not good practic. Theymos should take action against any manipulation.

you are one of the members suddenly acting like the police in every thread possible, don't worry a lot of users will be removed
16  Other / Meta / Re: Fact based on topic relevant information should not be silenced in META on: January 20, 2019, 07:16:18 PM
For the Meta section, it's a valid point.

Let's compare, it's like saying the Parliament (Meta) is the place to talk and debate about our society, everyone can enter and everyone can raise his/her voice.
But once you're in the parliament and you want to give your opinion, people tell you to shut up.

This is not how you create a friendly environment.

Theymos were saying in a pm Bitcointalk doesn't need politicians,  it's true, but that's exactly what is going on
17  Economy / Economics / Re: Investing in Bitcoin in 2019? on: January 18, 2019, 11:32:23 PM
If you are investing now, consider your investment for at least a 2-3 years period. Don't go for a short term.
You say you did a little business using BTC. Maybe you should just stick to it and consider it as a new opportunity to attract new customers (and so to grow your biz) it could turn into something more profitable than speculating..
