Why are 99% of the new coins Scrypt, fuck sake try a new and better algo already. Scrypt takes tons of electricity and it's not 2014 anymore.

Which cryptocurrencies are planning or already implementing SegWit?
I would like to build a list of them.
Until now, I know:
- Bitcoin (adoption unsure, still low miner support)
- Litecoin (signalling just started yesterday, too early to draw conclusion)
- Viacoin (planned, but still no signalling)
Are there more? I'll update the OP if I find more (even the smallest ones), feel free to suggest some. (If there is already a thread about this, point me to it).

If you’re not familiar with segwit you can read the benefits and purpose here ( https://bitcoincore.org/en/2016/01/26/segwit-benefits/). With that being said we are excited to announce that everything is working as it should on the test-net ,and if time permits we should have the new release ready sometime early next week, if not sooner. This should serve as a heads up to miners and pools since we will need a 75% consensus for segwit to activate. Please spread the word.

Way up again just like it did with the ICO. Then you can sell make your money and leave. Just ignore him, that's all he knows. Anyway, back in the CMC top 100 today. Could be a "pump" but looks like broader support: VeriCoin $935,742 $0.031265 29,929,761 VRC $4,509 +18.68% I truly think this project has merit. The temptation to "dump and run" is strong but, there's something about Vericoin and Verium that makes me think it will rise again. I've dumped a lot of other coins over the past five years that looked good going in but turned out to be duds however, not this one, not yet. There is still life here. Agreed! There will many releases upcoming. New updated website with Verium, lots of updates with wallet. Decentralized mining with Verium a first, P2P swap in wallet with Vericoin/Verium which will be untraceable on the blockchain (totally private transactions, finally). Merged wallet with Vericoin and Verium, seperate wallets for mining and staking. Upcoming marketing which will bring more awareness to Vericoin and Verium. Third party mobile app which is being trademarked for iOS and Android using ICO funds. Social media app which will use Vericoin under the hood of the app. Multiple developers will be working on this. I'm excited about this as there still no main stream use for crypto. If we have something that is simple and fun to use we could have mainstream appeal. We are in the social media age, kids can't put down their phones. 2017 is going to be interesting and exciting for Vericoin and Verium. As a newcomer to VeriCoin I'm actually really impressed with the wallet itself, being able to see stats and the market charts inside the wallet is awesome, haven't seen any other coin do that. I'm happy to have bought in and hope it continues to grow. |

I want to buy different types of alt coins and not just one. I will use half for short term trading and other half as long term investment. What will the value of this 300 USD become in 2020 ? First off, have the majority of your investment in Bitcoin because that's the only reason Altcoins are alive today and Bitcoin even though risky, is a lot less risky then alts, but alts have potential besides the fact most are pump and dump. For me, after going through many alts over the past year, I would say WAVES, Stratis, Lisk, NEM, VeriCoin, Boolberry, Decred, NXT which includes Ardor as an asset, all these coins have something to offer, granted some will fail, some could be where Ethereum was and continue to grow, but the biggest thing is what the coin can offer, that means from the wallet to the community, to the features of the project, read the whitepaper, do research, read the forums, study up on the coins before you put any money into it, and do realize Alt coins are like penny stocks, as fast as they rise, they fall.
