1  Economy / Speculation / Re: We are at "THE" ATH on: December 22, 2013, 12:41:48 PM
everybody who was IN thought that it would change completly the world of marketing and commerce and retailing. AMWAY was gonna rewrite the script and rip new assholes for walmart etc. you saw what happend. NOTHING and i mean NOTHING would dampen the enthusion felt by the amwayers.

Really?  No, you were the only one who believed that.  Everyone else saw Amway for what it was...another door to door/MLM/pyramid type sales of a product that no one really wants/needs.  Just like Acai juice, herbalife, and all the others.  I was like 12 when a friends father who was retired got into Amway, and even then, at 12 years old, we all knew it was a joke.  It sounds to me like you don't really understand what either Amway or Bitcoin really are.  No comparison.  End of thread.

And btw Amway has been around a lot longer than 15 years

Nobody is complaining about not being able to buy.
Isn't it strange how that's always the case with flaky Bitcoin exchanges. Deposits work fine. Withdrawals, not so much. Mt. Gox is the classic example, but take a look at the topics at the top of this forum today.

BTC-e deposit/withdrawal issues
CampBX is being slow - use caution
BTCE Please RELEASE MY MONEY - Money hold for a long time
Bter.com not allowing BTC withdraw
MtGox withdrawal delays

Even when someone complains about "deposit issues", it's never "I can't transfer money to them", it's always "I transferred money to them and they didn't credit it/put a hold on it/lost it." This is why I don't buy the "banking/government conspiracy" theories - if that were the problem, there would be problems in sending money.

They check in, but they don't check out - Roach Motel ad

I have used cavirtex for deposits and withdrawals many times
And have never had a problem.
Seems like most of the complaining is about verification...
We have had months to do this and people are only mad now because they finally got around to it after the price popped over 500...

Have you been reading the thread?  You don't seem to get it.  What about those of us that are already verified, have been since the beginning, but found out AFTER transferring funds that anything over $5000 needs to be re-verified.  Cavirtex should have been more proactive about this, and notified its existing and loyal customer base of this change to give ample time to be re-verified before this rally.  At the very least, existing customers who needed to be reverified should have been treated with priority. Think about it; those of us depositing larger amounts are being punished, when people sending small amount have their funds cleared with no problems.  Doesn't make much sense, does it?

It is clear you are in some way tied to Cavirtex, and are simply posting here to blow off the issues that they are having.  Web Cavirtex chooses not to answer the phones, emails, or support tickets, forums like these are the only place we can hope to get their attention.

Like I said in my last post, hopefully they catch up soon, and work hard to prevent utter failures in service like this from happening in the future.

I don't think you are listening.  Many here are not frustrated about not being able to buy coins.  They are frustrated with the way Cavirtex has handled the past few weeks.  As a business owner, I'd never treat customers the way Cavirtex has during all this.

True, Cavirtex perorms their function as an exchange, and all exchanges/businesses have their flaws, but the fact that they do their job (not necessarily an overly good job, but they do what their company is mandated to do) is no reason not to voice your concern when they drop the ball like this.  It's like saying "I've been waiting 4 weeks for my carpenter to finish a job that should have taken 2-3 days, I haven't heard from him, he has a substantial amount of my money, doesn't answer his phone, and has left an arrogant message telling me its my fault he hasn't been able to finish my job and that he is really busy. But its ok because people say he's done a good job before."

Anyway, I think my point has been made.  In fact I never would have resorted to coming here if I didn't feel completely abandoned by Cavirtex in the first place.  Cavirtex, I hope you have learned from all this, and will be a bit more proactive in the future when dealing with major policy changes like this.

Time to stop with all the fud
Cavirtex has been one of the safest and best exchanges for Canadians around.
There fees may be high but there cost per bitcoins has more than made up for it.
They are here to allow us to buy bitcoins with some sense of security
They have been quite good at communicating problems in comparison to all other exchanges that I have used... which include mt gox and bitstamp...

If your new to bitcoins you will find that there is a great amount of growing pains throughout the system not just with cavirtex

I'm sorry if you got held up and couldn't buy through this rally
But it could just have easily worked out in your favor.

Hopefully this new interest will help the Canadian bitcoin community grow and cavirtex will catch up and not have these problems in the future.

I also think that bitcoin companies will begin to understand that transparency is key in this new worldwide investment..

Thanks for the update joseph

Nobody is complaining about not being able to buy, if you bothered to read the comments you'd see the frustration lies in a complete lack of customer service, ie. no answering of phones, no replies to emails, voicemails, support tickets etc.  On top of that, they can't handle technical issues in a timely manner (withdrawls of BTC down?  seriously?) the fees Cavirtex charge are ridiculous to say the least, and new dormant account charges and other charges are just the icing on the cake.  All of these things combined are why people have come here to express their displeasure.  And it took DAYS for Cavirtex to reply in this forum and have still not addressed these concerns.

There is absolutely no excuse for such poor levels of service.  The way Cavirtex has handled this mess is the underlying problem; they just can't scale properly and instead of dealing with the problems head on they turned off their phones and support system and blamed their customers for their problems.

Remember too, I was told the reason they are behind is BECAUSE THEY HAD STAFF ON HOLIDAYS, not because they received too many verification requests.

This is not something that should be simple swept under the rug. If I owned shares in Cavirtex I'd be deeply concerned with the management and their handling of this situation.
5  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Official CaVirtex.com Thread on: December 04, 2013, 06:35:13 AM
Honestly, CaVirtex is losing 100% of its legitimacy right now as a trusted trader. When you look up CaVirtex to see if they are legit or not, this thread is what comes up, and news flash to the owner of CaVirtex, this thread destroys your credibility.

What also doesn't help is when you call your 1888 number about verification, the owner of the company comes on with an automated message where he sounds angry and bitter as he tells ppl why their verifications aren't going through, he sounds like a douche when instead he should be thankful that he is probably stinking right right now because of his website and the high fee's they charge.

They seem to have absolutely ZERO understanding of customer service and how critical it is to the sustainability of a business. With that said, maybe they don't care about their business and instead are just in for short term cash and carry.

I agree, but I don't think Cavirtex's CEO does.  You are absolutely right about his message, he is confrontational and downright angry, and blames his problems on us, his customers.

I hate going on about this here, but I fear if we don't let our concerns be heard, nothing will be done.  I think anyone who feels the same way as we do should post on their twitter page twitter.com/cavirtex with our frustrations.  Perhaps then we will be heard, Cavirtex?  After all, even PayPal, the telecom's and Cable companies, who are loathed for their poor customer service, answer the phone and at least make an effort to fix their problems.
6  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Official CaVirtex.com Thread on: December 04, 2013, 06:09:47 AM
Sent in all my verification info Nov 26th, have not heard from CaVirtex since. My account information is all there, drivers license image front/back, internet bill. No reply, nothing. They advertise 2-5 business days for verification, it has been a lot more than that and as a result I am missing critical trades that would have made me money. I am trying to be patient and calm but no one answers their phones, replies to tickets sent over a week ago, nothing.

CaVirtex claims they have 9+ people, how can it be that with 9 people account verifications take THIS long. What are they doing that takes so long? It is an account verification, not a passport application with 10 year background check.

That's the most frustrating part isn't it Aethelwulf, not even being contacted, or at the least some sort of automated reply telling you they are processing your request with an ETA on completion.  Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you probably have a couple of more weeks to wait.

My question is, WHAT ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE ALREADY BEEN VERIFIED?  HOW MUCH LONGER ARE WE GOING TO HAVE TO WAIT TO BE RE-VERIFIED?  AND WHY AREN'T WE BEING TREATED WITH PRIORITY, SINCE WE ALREADY HAD TO GO THROUGH YOUR RIDICULOUS PROCESSES BEFORE?

I'm more concerned with these issues of not being able to withdraw BTC right now, what is up with that Cavirtex?
7  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Official CaVirtex.com Thread on: December 03, 2013, 05:24:08 PM
I have been calling constantly for DAYS and no one is EVER available to take my call. I thought you hired more staff, what the heck is going on over there?

Days?  Try WEEKS!

And to top it off, I'm already verified...so if this is the way Cavirtex treats existing customers, I hate to think what new customers must be going through.

They have done nothing to reply to any of my numerous emails, support tickets, phone messages, not a thing.  At the very least they could send a reply to the support tickets and at least reassure us that someone is actually there working on our requests. And not just an arrogant voicemail greeting from the CEO telling us what idiots we are for not supplying the correct information and making his life difficult.
8  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Official CaVirtex.com Thread on: December 01, 2013, 05:56:36 PM
Yeah...but I think this is beyond just "some issues", if after a couple of days they got their act together I'd understand, but this is WEEKS now.

The thing that really irked me was that message from their CEO on their voicemail, with such an arrogant and confrontational tone, that is basically saying the reason they are having so many issues is because people aren't providing the right documentation etc.  I don't think a CEO should ever blame their problems on his customers. A simple, "please provide us with the documentation as per page X of the website" would suffice.

The problem according to the person I spoke with on the phone is that they have people on holidays slowing them down.

Anyway, since this is a Cavirtex thread, hopefully someone is reading this and fixes their issues.  Based in the fees we pay I'd expect more.

.. Sorry about the new post
I'm just whitewashing the obvious problems
Hate it when I reread myself and realize I'm trolling

I know the feeling...I too hate to be a troll and i haven't used the forum much since I signed up earlier this year but I've been reading the problems other people are having with their customer service and just had to chime in.

Please Cavirtex, no more excuses, just work through your issues Smiley

Well looks like they are lurking
Speed up announced  Wink

Nov. 28, 2013, 5 p.m. - Speed up Customer Service! - Click to Read

We have just sped up our verification process and re-assigned workload to 6 full time people. Please be patient as over today and tomorrow there will be mass phone verifications conducted as well as ticket responses in the order in which they were received, we are starting our efforts on Nov 18th and project to be caught up by next week. We are devoting our full human resources to make this happen with the addition of 3 more part-time people to make a total of 9 staff working solely on tickets and customer service!

That and a whole message on zero fees which would not be processed because they would be below dust but they caught that one quickly
Just teasing  Wink

customer service  Grin my ass, seriously I opened a ticket 24 hours ago and still waiting for the response problem to be solved !!!   Yea I believe they got 6 FULL time people sitting there helping customers Grin  even worse nobody answers any phone calls  Roll Eyes

They have long way to go before they understand what customer service means!!!!

Have you listened to the new voicemail message from Joseph David?  What a completely condescending, arrogant way to handle interaction with his customers.  It's like he is blaming customers for his lack of customer service.  I have never, ever seen a business operate with such a complete disregard for their customers.  They are not answering phone calls, emails, support tickets, and I have been a verified client for almost a year.  Way to treat your customers, Cavirtex.

Your fees are outrageous; there is no excuse not to have adequate customer service.  I was lucky enough to get through to a representative a couple of weeks ago, who told me the reason they are so behind is because they had people on holidays.

Cavirtex, you have a reputation for being a good exchange, but you are also developing a reputation for having a complete disregard for customer service. I beg you; please, please change your customer service standards.  If you don't I can guarantee other exchanges will begin popping up in Canada who will be happy to properly service the market, and not charge ridiculous fees to do so.

If you bought as an investment, then think long term. plan on holding them a year or 2 or 10. then you can ignore these little burps in the price. Or, you can take advantage of these drops to increase your holdings. one caveat though, never speculate with more money than you can afford to lose.

+1

I've watched "bubbles" in Real Estate for years.  Never seen the "crash" everyone talks about, yet anyways.

Wha?!

Ummm... take a look at the number of foreclosures on the market and home values after 2008 to a year ago... or even to this day. Where do you live? maybe not in the US?

Total poor analogy on my part; I was referring to the Canadian RE market, which people have been saying is in a bubble for 10 years now.  It is starting to look like we are heading in the same the direction the US did in 2007/08, but the point I am trying to make is that the valuation of an asset can rise for a long time before landing, hard or soft, or not at all.  There are always people who say "the sky is falling" when there may be much more room to grow

Unless you need the money, hold them.  Much more fun that way, plus you have lots of room if by some chance they do drop in value.

I've watched "bubbles" in Real Estate for years.  Never seen the "crash" everyone talks about, yet anyways.  My personal thoughts are that Bitcoin will continue to rise with some pretty big bumps along the way, but rise nevertheless.  If you read these forums, you will see the sentiment here is very bullish and most people are hoarding their coins, putting pressure on the supply therefore increasing prices.  I think we have a ways to go before any major correction, but more likely stability.
