hahaha how in god's name did you have that many s9's and l3's running in your garage?

are you an electrician?

i can barely BARELY run one L3+ and one r4 and 2 other GPU rigs and they're spread all over my house because using them in any other way will blow out fuses lol

also, i'm interested in buying one or 2 of your machines.  I live close enough to you to drive and pick them up.  I'm hoping you can tell me your secret for running electricity to that many asics, and how you managed to keep your garage under 200 degrees hahaa.  are any of the chips damaged from overheating?

well, because as much as ive honestly LOVED mining, i realize now that if i had just spent  that money on coins and held them then i would have made similar profits...actually in some cases i think hodling would have been a better investment (looking back).

but i get what you’re saying. once you get a taste of some good mining rig(s). ie getting in the first shipment of  bitmain L3’s...once you’ve experienced that, it’s very difficult to resist chasing the newest, fastest asics.

are you going to buy one of these from one of the 2 second-hand retailers you’ve mentioned?

so for those of us who are in this thread legitimately considering (hoping/wishing) for this miner to be real and to be able to actually get one in time for them to still be profitable, yet we remain pessimistic of the possibilities of actually getting into one of these while these coins are still profitable:

What coins should I be investing in instead of making the buy?

LBRY, PASCAL, & DECRED?  any others?

is there a consensus that the value on these coins will rise when the hashrate and thus difficulty goes through the roof with the release of these miners??

When D3 batch was released around early Aug 2017, Dash coin price was around USD190.
4 months after that Dash coin price went up 5x to around USD1,000 due to spike in difficulty level.

LBRY coin's price has been going up steadily from around USD0.25 to almost USD0.53 now(18th Dec).
Does it mean after say Feb'18, LBRY prices will go up as well to make USD2? As 40 GH per asic unit is going to shoot through the roof and make GPU mining almost impossible to make a decent profit.

Should we start buying more LBRY coin to keep?

i believe this might be the most interesting and useful post in this entire thread....  is this an established trend?  that with increasing difficulties, comes increasing coin values???

it certainly seems to pass the basic correlation test (using my memory--which is notoriously inaccurate--as a gauge)

sounds cool!  i'd like to give it a spin..... i totally understand where you were coming from on this project.

up until now, the only windows gui i have found is nicehash miner... nothing against linux but i find myself frequently wanting to change up my rigs to boot windows.

is it free to use?  i mean aside from the dev fee?

Exact make and model of gpu.

Exact make and model of mobo

Exact make and model of gpus.

Do not do any more gpus. Until you answer the questions above.

Basically some psus suck.
And some gpus suck a lot of power.

to answer what i have:

the mobo is 5 gpu setup from gpushack.. gigabyte 970a-ds3p

psu is 1300w lightning and i have two HD7970's, two saphire r9 fury's, and one R9 280x.

nothing else really attached to the motherboard except for a solid state drive, keyboard, mouse, & monitor.

wow!  thanks for all your replies.  i was hesitant to post a question like this but i just couldn't find an answer.  you guys are great.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Powered Risers and direct PCI-e powered gpus? on: February 13, 2017, 04:40:32 PM
i connect my gpu's directly to power using the pci-e connections located directly on my gpu's and this seemed to work ok for a while....

but now I'm expanding to 5 GPU's and I've run out of pci-e cables from my psu...  should i be running power to my risers (molex) instead of directly to my cards?

are they equivalent to each other?  i.e. can i power some of my risers using molex cable and power the other ones by hooking power up directly to the gpus?

thanks in advance!
