1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [pre-ANN][BAL] Buy, trade, and use a diversified basket of cryptoassets as cash. on: August 26, 2018, 12:44:24 AM
The idea of the project is very interesting, but I looked at who you technical director in the project and he has almost no experience.
So Im negatively look at this project at the moment, you definitely need to recruit more people with experience.

Bitcointalk is a funny place sometimes. Interesting to see posts like this when shitcoins with completely unknown and dubious teams have hundreds of pages worth of people begging for airdrops and evangelizing Tongue

Checked out the LinkedIn, and seems like the tech guy's legit. Worked at amazon and as a senior engineer at 500PX.

Project seems pretty unique too. Worth keeping an eye on.

So, to get this party started...

Airdrop? Cheesy

Uhh, noble idea and all -- but what's the benefit of doing this on the blockchain? Other than, you know, taking advantage of speculation?

4  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Is mining worth it at this point? on: June 16, 2013, 08:53:42 AM
I've been following Bitcoin very closely for about four months now. When the group buys started about a month ago, I saw it as a great investment opportunity, but I lacked the capitol. Now that I'm in a better position to invest, dozens of group buys have started and tens of thousands of chips have been purchased. I read the custom hardware forum, and my stomach churns--what a great opportunity I seem to have missed. So, is mining even worth it all? If so, how much hashing power would be required to turn in a profit? How many chips would I have to order now to actually see a return when they show up?
5  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Wikipedia's Bitcoin article: "Bitcoin is not a currency." on: April 12, 2013, 03:00:40 AM
HAHAHAHAHA. Yeah, okay.

A currency is a medium of exchange. Paper money is not backed by anything, and it has no real value outside of the fact that people use it to trade. People could be trading with anything. Paper bills. Gold coins. Bottle caps. Bitcoins. At least the value of Bitcoin lies beyond the fact that people use it. Security, anonymity, and transferability make it quite a bit more valuable than any other form of currency to date.
6  Other / Beginners & Help / Can we stop the obsession with prices? on: April 12, 2013, 02:53:40 AM
This is mostly directed towards people who have discovered Bitcoin within the last few weeks. It's great that the word is getting out there, and I'm glad to see people jumping on the bandwagon, but there's a lot more to the currency than just its price. Bitcoin is the first completely decentralized, peer-to-peer currency, which allows people to transfer exorbitant amounts of money from anywhere in the world to anywhere in the world with nearly non-existant transaction fees.  P2P loans, smart contracts via blockchain, and long-term deflation are in the future for this currency. Let's not obsess over the short term volatility of people moving huge sums of money in and out of the economy.

Scammers think they can still get away with this shit? Lol.
8  Other / Beginners & Help / Legit BTC exchange that accepts credit cards? on: April 10, 2013, 09:30:50 AM
Hey all. I've been looking into a few exchanges that supposedly accept credit cards (notably Bitcoin-24 and VirWoX), and I wanted to see what you guys thought of them. Are they trustworthy? Any difficulties/issues? How quick are trades?
9  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Possible proof BFL is using people's preorders to mine with. on: April 10, 2013, 08:22:05 AM
From what I understand, this is just a rotating address in a large mining pool. Nevertheless, the possibility that this is happening is quite unnerving. It would be very, very easy to hide the gains across a multitude of addresses. The scariest thing about this possibility is the implications on the BTC economy. The currency's strength lies in its decentralized nature, and a centralization of hashing power and new coin production could be very hazardous to the infant economy. More competitors need to enter the mining/mining hardware arena to drive manufacturing costs down and to get more ASICs in the hands of more people.
