Coinwarz is fucked. Ignore it. The pool is correct. Use coinchoose if you need a website.
Heh thanks.  Yeah Coinwarz' difficulty number was way off which must be the problem.

Not sure about the coinwarz profitability of bitbar vs. what i'm able to get on btb.ltcoin.net.  It says my hash rate should get about 4.5 bars/day, but I only managed less than half of that which put my actual profitability closer to just plain litecoin.  So either coinwarz is way off (maybe the difficulty # it's getting is wrong?) or the pool estimate is somehow extremely low.

You could also get an APC PDU 7900 or 7901 from ebay, they're really expensive new but I've gotten used ones as low as $50-$60 shipped.  Sometimes the 7901's are cheaper because they have the 20 amp plugs which most people can't use at home, but you can always replace the plug for $10 (and refrain from plugging over 12 amps into them if on a 15 amp circuit Smiley.

Then, you can remotely switch any of the outlets on and off, you also get nice monitoring of your total amp load so you can calculate wattage at any time, and you'll be able to control any additional accessories as well (say you have an auxiliary fan plugged in but it isn't always needed, you'd be able to switch it on and off remotely).  Another nice bonus is that you can set email alerts for when the amperage goes above or below a certain level.  So if something happens, say your mining pool is down or your miner crashes for whatever reason, your GPUs would stop mining and the amps would drop way down, the PDU could let you know there's an issue...

Not as many mining in these around...

old 2008 Mac Pro, 7970, 7950 below, 6970 up top

That giant window fan is actually to exhaust my kitchen/whole apartment but it obviously helps suck all that miner heat outside as well!  That's an old iPad 1 on the wall I use for kitchen stuff but it makes a nice VNC terminal...

I also underclock my ram to 310mhz - running on server 2008 r2 sp1

Which utility do you use to get your RAM that low?  Is there a way to allow it to be done from within cgminer?
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin Price on: May 20, 2013, 05:59:02 PM
Considering the few Litecoins I mined around 1 year ago when almost no one cared about it were at 0.003$ back then and now they're 3$, I can believe anything. I certainly will wait to see what happens.

And I also deeply regret stopping mining back then, but who could predict this climb  Grin

Or you could've bought 10,000 of them outright for pocket change ...

Yeah I have to become a non-newbie to be able to help answer a question i know the answer to in the regular section.

Keep an eye on www.coinwarz.com and www.dustcoin.com to compare the relative mining profitability of each.  At this very moment they're fairly similar so it's probably easier to just mine Bitcoin.. But if the Litecoin value rises in proportion to Bitcoin, or Bitcoin difficulty increases quickly (which is supposedly likely in the near future) then Litecoins might be the way to go for GPU miners.  But the charts on those sites should reflect that if it comes to pass.

Ask yourself why you want to get a mining rig? For fun? A hobby? Or to become rich? If it is for fun or hobby, then great! If it is to become rich, forget it!

True, but there is a little place in the middle where it could make a little extra "pocket change", like pay for your electricity, or buy you lunch every day Smiley

For me it'd depend on what skills you've accumulated throughout your life that I can gain use of once I assimilate your soul.  For example fly fishing, cookie baking, soccer goalie, etc.

If anyone has seen some of the prices the early pre-ordered BFL miners are going for on ebay, you might conclude that a better business model was just to make  a bunch of $700 pre-orders and then sell them 10 months later for 10 times the price Smiley
