Hi guys,

was thinking about opening up a thread only for the Gigabyte 7950 GV-R795WF3-3GD graphics card.
If anyone has this card, please vote and post your config so we can learn from each other.

Info
OS:Windows 7
Miner:cgminer 3.1.1
Bios:F42
Driver:Catalyst 13.4
GPU clock:1100 Mhz
Mem clock:1250 Mhz
Voltage:stock
Fan:auto (~57%)
Temp:57°
Avg Hashes:540 Mhz

config
Code:
cgminer.exe --gpu-platform 1 -k diablo -v 1 -w 128 --gpu-engine 1100 --gpu-memclock 1250

Template

I made a reply template for your convenience:
http://pastebin.com/hTUWPjFG

Edit

I would like to post the config of the best miner setup here at the top.
If you think your card does so well, it deserves to be here, cause it is fast as hell, please provide the config and a screenshot of your miner showing how long it has actually running at that speed.

Are you guys actually using the Gigabyte 7950 GV-R795WF3-3GD or a different model? Those values seem to be too high to be true. Would you like to share the config please?

Anyway, motivated by this I further played around with the options and am now ablt eto make 580 Mh/s stable (run at least the whole night without any probs).

Ok, I made a BIOS update from F42 to F43. I am now at 595Mh/s

Info
OS:Windows 7
Miner:cgminer 3.1.1
Bios:F43
Driver:Catalyst 13.4
GPU clock:1125 Mhz
Mem clock:950 Mhz
Voltage:stock
Fan:auto (~51%)
Temp:67°
Avg Hashes:595 Mhz

config
Code:
cgminer.exe --gpu-platform 1 -k diablo -v 1 -w 128 --gpu-engine 1125 --gpu-memclock 950 --intensity 9

1125Mhz seems to be the highest I can go.
Please anybody how has over 600Mh/s please post your config.

Have you tried this thread?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=197871.0

I got 620+ out of the box without bios flash using these settings (had to reduce cpu clock by ~75 or system hang).

How many pins do your PCI-E power headers have?

2x6pins are revision 1 cards running on the original 7950 boards (which apparently ATI never gave a reference for)
the 1x6 + 1x8 is the revision 2 card - it runs on a 7970 board.  That extra power might add to your stability.

I use a rev 2 and it hasn't ever failed (admitedly I have never pushed it past 1200mhz).

I also underclock my ram to 310mhz - running on server 2008 r2 sp1

Which utility do you use to get your RAM that low?  Is there a way to allow it to be done from within cgminer?

I guess you guys don't pay much attention to #litecoin, or the litecoin forums. I've been talking about how to get 700kh/s from a 7950 for a few months now, and someone even posted a semi-competent guide on how to get over 650kh/s on the litecoin forums. These cards will easily do more than 610Mh/s with BTC.

the problem is that i can't set intensity over 13, or the gpu drives stop working

So I have 3 rigs running these 2 of these cards each, flashed with F43 BIOS, on one rig (e8400, 4GB DDR2 RAM) I can run at a thread concurrency of 24000 with 1 GPU thread at ~650kH/s per card after using the GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100 command.

On the other two rigs, (Intel G2130, 8GB DDR3 RAM) even after using this command and the exact same settings as the other rig, CGMiner won't start on a TC higher than 8192. The highest I can get these cards at TC 8192 is ~595kH/s using 2 GPU threads.

Can anybody offer advice as to why this only seems to work on one of my rigs and not the other two? It seems although it confirms the setting has been changed this is not being applied, and thus CGMiner reports a memory buffer overload. Reading thread after thread of people pulling 650kH/s> with high TC is really starting to bug me when two of mine don't work for some reason Sad

What OS/Catalyst are you running on each rig? What's the specific error you're getting?

What OS/Catalyst are you running on each rig? What's the specific error you're getting?

Win 7x64, Catalyst 13.1, cgminer 3.1.1

I've executed
Code:
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1

.bat file is:

Code:
cgminer --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://ltcmine.ru:3333 -u x -p xx --thread-concurrency 24000 --lookup-gap 2 --gpu-engine 1100 --gpu-memclock 1400 --gpu-powertune 20 -w 256 -I 19 -g 1

This works on rig 1, the error on the other 2 is:

Code:
Started cgminer 3.1.1
Probing for an alive pool
Maximum buffer memory device 0 supports says 536870912
Your scrypt settings come to 1572864000
Error -61: clCreateBuffer <padbuffer8>, decrease TC or increase LG
Failed to init GPU thread 0, disabling device 0
Restarting the GPU from the menu will not fix this.
Try restarting cgminer.
Press enter to continue:

I had just ignored it and have been running for a couple of months at a slightly lower kH/s with 2 threads at TC of 8192, but I can't help but keep coming back to it as I want to figure out why it doesn't work.

you need to set environmental variables

easy mode: use guiminer-scrypt

Hi Taco,

Funnily enough that's what I am now doing on the 2 that don't work with my .bat file on cgminer. Now happy at ~650kH/s.

However, this doesn't help the important learning process of what I was (or wasn't) doing for it to produce the errors!

Update: 3-20-13
cgminer versions 2.11.3 and up can be used to mine with high thread concurrencies now.  Follow these instructions:
WINDOWS: Open console and type
Code:
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
Now, close the console (it will not work if you open cgminer in the same window).  Open cgminer using a .bat or a new console, high thread concurrencies will now work.

guiminer-scrypt is a bit nicer because it doesn't cause you to permanently alter your environmental variables, though.

I had tried that already with no effect (despite cmd confirmations of the changes) on both machines. Thanks for the reply though.

Back on topic of the thread, settings:

F43 BIOS
GPU Engine 1110MHz
GPU Memclock 1400MHz
Powertune +20%
Thread Concurrency 16384
Intensity 19
Worksize 256

Fan speed usually 50 - 70% (Auto)
Temps 65C (Min) - 76C (Max) Depending on time of day and weather
2 cards per rig, open air

Win7x64
Catalyst 13.1
GUI-Miner scrypt

~650kH/s per card

GPU Engine 1150MHz
GPU Memclock 1250MHz
Thread Concurrency 21000
Intensity 18

Getting just under 600Khash/sec from each card.  I could bump it up a little bit more, but would rather play on the safe side.
