1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Time to think in decentralized exchanges? on: December 30, 2017, 03:00:34 PM
Hi to everybody.

We know what are happening in centralized exchanges: withdrawals issues, verified accounts never arrive, or technical support don't work.
I've never had a problem, but I'm starting to think that maybe I have lucky.
I don't want to talk about especific centralized exchanges, only search news about your exchange: "YourExchange issues" for example. You will read a lot of complains.
It's not new, but I think 2018 will be the hacked year for a lot of these exchanges because (as I've said) it's not new and now there are more users than 2017-2016 (and more criptocoins).

What do you think about?
Are meaningful for you all of those bad news?

Thanks a lot.
2  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you think the Xmas and Holiday season, caused the drop in the price? on: December 27, 2017, 11:47:26 AM
So it is the Holiday season and it was Xmas. How many people dived into their Bitcoin hoard to buy Xmas gifts and also paid for a nice holiday with their family?

We saw a huge increase in the price, early in the season and this might have triggered a situation where people rewarded themselves with some "Gifts" for the holiday season.

The direct impact of that would have been a higher influx of coins onto the exchanges and if that was not met with a higher demand for coins, then it would explain the drop in the price.

Did you splash out with some expensive gifts and extravagant holidays with your bitcoins, during the holiday season?
I believe that the whales are the reason why the price of bitcoin dipped down. Including those small investors in order to have food and gifts during Christmas. We also expect that in upcoming New Year celebration, the bitcoin price will move down also. That is just my guess.

I think whales are the reason too.
I don't have any tehory and any reason, but my thoughs about what happened is a market movement.

Altcoins had the best value on ≈ May, June, July (spring) and Litecoin is the first coin to recover the same level of those dates (≈ 0.19btc on July) only in 11 days.
Other altcoins had an increment these days (sc, xrp, xem, zcash...) it's like altcoins could/try recover its old value on 2018.

I though that btc will rises to $25k until genuary/february and 2018 will be the bloody year, falling until $6k - $8k

Maybe is a casuality, but one month before to the fall, there were a lot of news about a study, here there is one of those links: https://www.coindesk.com/survey-plurality-of-bitcoin-users-think-it-can-change-world/
They said this value: $196,165.79

On 16 December btc closed on ≈$19,223

Maybe, 2018 will be the altcoin's year.
No Xmas, no taxes, only a movement. Smiley
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What to do if Bitcoin Price Crashes on: December 14, 2017, 05:05:22 PM
What is the bitcoin for every of us ?
If it's only a coin and its value is important because you can compare with fiat, well... this kind of people could have a big depression.
If it's a perfect transaction system that give us all responsability about our 'money' and belive in blockchain system, the price of bitcoin does not matter (we can understand costs of minery, fees...).

For people who are thinking only in comparative (btc ---> fiat): Think about that: If 1btc rises to $20.0000... what's more important? btc or $?
For example: would you sell all yor US dollars for australian dollars now?
Or would you change € for Iranian rial now?

And the last one: If btc is prohibited for lawgivers, btc is less important and less usefuly? (Well, we will need to know which kind of law will wrote them)

For me, blockchain and btc are importants.
I will never pay $16.000 for 1btc, but i won't put any objection if anyone want to pay that price.
And there are other interesting cryptocurrencies.

We are living in a vast test/checking. If tomorrow anyone discovers how to break any blockchain security, we will have a problem. And this is worst than value of any criptocoin. For me, this point will be my disappointment.

The best way to kill btc is easy
Make Fees Insanely High (Which they are now, $20 or higher)
Transactions take days or weeks (Which is happening now)

^^^^^
Updated

Check forum many users complain about spending $20 to send less than $100.

No need for them to lose all of that money , convert to other coin and pay less than a $1

Yes, I totally agree, but this is a problem when a lot of people (a country, a continent) use this coin in their common habits.

Now it's very difficult to use any cryptocurrency in any state, I mean, it's not popular yet.

Can we buy some bread with litecoin? Or bitcoin?
Can we buy a shirt with monero?
Yes, some internet business use cryptocurrencies, but it's not popular.

The best thing to kill any criptocurrency is when people check that it's not useful. But really the best use for common people is hodl. Why people need low fees when they won't use it? Why markets need low fees when they put all in Exchanges and wait to sell btc?

I think we are agree (only that I never write 'stupid' because I think that people can do what they want), only that my opinion puts society behaviour and markets on the top and technology in second position.
I know what you say, but are you thinkig with people who are using now btc?

Fee's problem will be a superproblem for projects like estcoin. But for btc users... it's only a geek problem.
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are You Stupid? You Pay $20 to send Core BTC coin on: November 13, 2017, 02:18:59 PM
All cryptocurrencies are in apocalipsys constantly.
No one use BTC to pay $60. Yes, it's a problem, but not yet for common usage. Why? Because btc is not used for majorities, only to make money.

The best way to kill btc is easy: all governments has to legalize btc.
Consecuencies:
1. A lot of people buy btc to high price.
2. Markets sell btc.
3. Price fall a lot.
4. Common people can't use it because they can't pay $60 because high price of transactions.
5. Big markets win, as always.
6. Btc becomes a bubble for everyone.
7. People trust again in fiat.

A lot of specialists talk about altcurrencies only for its technology. Yes it's the principal part. But everybody has to understand that these characteristics are not important for markets... yet. They only need an Exchange.

And well, I think your message could have more sense next year or in two years if anything has not changed.

11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XRP] Ripple Speculation on: June 30, 2017, 09:25:25 PM
Hi, I am not a Ripple hater.
I undertood that XRP needs to stabilize its value because if its value has a lot of big movements it does not have any utility for transactions.

Every month Ripple puts a lot of coins to control the value for make stable transactions.

https://ripple.com/insights/ripple-to-place-55-billion-xrp-in-escrow-to-ensure-certainty-into-total-xrp-supply/

Thus, I agree with the essence of this commentary:

Such a frustrating coin to buy, I do believe it will have another big run at some point. The over hang of 55B xrp from insiders might mean we won't see huge gains anymore though.

Ripple is flatline dead with some minimal spikes and dips. The only thing it attracts is borderline groupies. There are just too many ripples and none of the banks will use ripple as a token. The price for a ripples will forever hover between 0.15 and 0.30 euro. Maybe during a pump a little but higher but no more than that. The whole idea that it's going to a dollar is delusional and wishful thinking. Math wise and can wise it's a fairy tail.

Still fun to trade in 0.01 cent fluctuations.

And trade with ripple will be like trade with € / $ or other fiat currencies.
I thought that Ripple needed to increase its value to 1 $ (my messages are in this forum), but if Ripple needs to be used by banks and transactions, it does not need to be expensive because people will think: XRP is better than fiat currencies".
And this will be a problem. XRP have to live under the fiat shadows to works and be accepted. And I have my personal opinion, I think XRP's value has to be 1/3 or 1/4 of fiats ($ 0.25 / 0.33 $), and it's likely to be ≈ $ 0.25

I have XRP, but I think that the best option we can take is no wait a lot of time if you bought it at 0.43 $ (17th May 2017), because its price will be stable and never will see 43 cents again.

I hope I am wrong, but all signs to hold is the worst option. Only sell when you have an oportunity.

You wrote absolute bullshit, sorry, go do your homework it even very easy to google now.

Family Guy taught us that people like you are the seed of the world.
When you learn to write rational / coherent / debatable arguments, maybe you will be banned. Now, I assume that moderators don't touch you because you are one of XRP's mascot.

Yes... this forum has changed a lot...

13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Speculation on: June 29, 2017, 06:23:05 PM
I think NEM is interesting, but it is a perfect unknown for Europe, America and Australia.
So we know better about NEXT than NEM because NEM is used for Asian people.

However, NEM is alive and if you are interested in it, read this link: http://www.coinspeaker.com/2017/06/28/nem-io-foundation-partners-blockchain-global-expand-international-reach /

I tested NEM and I like more than NEXT, I do not know how NEM will increase its value, but the notice in previous link remember me the LTC's foundation one or two months ago.

In the other hand, this notice can mean:
1. Its price rises these next months.
2. Its price will be stable (arround 0.00006500 - 0.00007200).
3. Its price will go down and will be stable like prices in point 2.

What do you think? Maybe its a great moment to take positions or it can go down more?

A lot of us remember when segwit activation was a trhiller in twitter. LTC went to where it is now. During the descent, charlie lee invited us to make puzzles ...
I think segwit needs to be a force demonstration or something like that in next months/weeks, and it needs to increase its value because it has no sense that this coin was more valuable without segwit.
(For me its real value will be when its price will rise in btc, not in $)
I do not like Litecoin after that because its reputation was questioned. Yes, it's a decentraliced coin but where are the major part of these coins?
During this time a lot of coins have taken advantage of the occasion and LTC is a coin without any sense to exist, only a market/miner's game.

And I'm not a LTC hater, I have a little amount, but every day I think: WTF!
When I will sell my coins, never will buy them again.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage on: June 07, 2017, 06:45:05 PM
sc looks really promising, but i'm concerned companies like Google have cloud storage on a mass scale in the bag (and probably already creating something like this in the background), could this be a genuine contender for mass adoption or is it more specialist?

In my opinion, if Google is the reference in internet it have to think if it need to buy (or invest) in crypto/decentralized projects.
Maybe it has done. Now All projects are small and recent. Time to time.

Google's business model consists in offering cheap or even "free" services in exchange of your data.

Imho the concept of a decentralised cloud secured by blockchain goes against the very fundamentals of its model. A project like Sia can be a game changer in the business of Cloud, just like the way Google's model was disruptive for directories years ago.

Blockchain technology enables not just a cheaper, more efficient way to perform tasks but it also can ensure privacy, if the customer is concerned about it and choses wisely.

Some New Member just posted the following before deleting it; I'm copying it so the image can be seen.

http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/sia-takes-cloud-giants-blockchain-based-decentralised-storage-1625126

Well, it's a problem we do not know what will happen. Some countries censor some websites or cut connections in some cases.
Maybe with decentraliced apps, some goverments will want to regulate or censor.
Today, it seems that it is possible to know what you are doing with your computer, and we know that Tor is not infallible (for example).

Today this amazing technology can be used for great things and for worst things.
Today we are reading and listening to news like this: http://www.bbc.com/news/election-2017-40181444

I think that centralized companies and goverments that want to control our data are thinking about how to control this technology. We are in fornt of the doors of a new way to perceive and understand the economic / social world, and lobbies are waiting to bit their part of cake, in form of money or accessing in our privacity.

Sorry for the brick :p
It's an idea about when I wrote that centralized big companies maybe buy or invest in decentralized technology.

Actual price x5 is still cheap for SIA users Cheesy

I think we can go higher than this Smiley

How far this calculation will work because there are many whales who are holding a lot of SIA coins. Right now the price of SIA coin is very low and what are the chances that the price of SIA will increase.

Sorry, my English is not good.

I have a question.

Now, we have to storage 2000 Sia Coins to get storage. But what if the price of Sia increase to 1$ per coin , then it seems expensive, who will use the Sia to storage?

No, you need less SC.
You can compare with other coins to sell/buy. If you want to sell a professional bike for 1Btc (3000$) and two months later btc=6000$, your bike will sold for 0.5btc (if you want to keep the original price in $).
Adjust rates only.
