1  Economy / Economics / Re: If a token keeps falling, how to save it on: June 06, 2024, 12:00:17 PM
At this point you are the creator and beneficiary of this token, what will you do?

If you are the developer or at least involved in a big role like CEO, most likely I will like,

>> hire a marketing team to promote your project
>> have bounty or signature campaign here
>> hire crypto influencer
>> be active in your social media account, it should be official and make the announcement
>> of course, developed it more to cater for crypto enthusiast and see value in the project itself

And it just shows that it's easy to create a project, but to maintain it and have the necessary support or consensus of the community? it's going to be very hard.
2  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ POLL ] The Rematch: FURY vs USYK 21st December 2024 on: June 06, 2024, 11:23:58 AM
Just five votes have been cast in the rematch poll and we are on 4 for Fury and 1 for Usyk.

There is something in the air about Fury possibly getting a stunning victory to exact revenge for the loss he suffered last month. Put it this way, if Usyk wins that would be the end of the matter but if Fury wins, both boxers and their teams will have to go where the money goes and will lead to a blockbuster trilogy.

We need more votes in the poll  Grin

I cast my vote for a Usyk win, he already defeated Fury in the first fight and I doubt that he can make the necessary adjustment in the rematch. Although if we talk about how rich will be that trilogy, who knows, maybe Usyk will give him a slack (not saying that he will intentionally take a dive) and then win in the judges card.

But barring all circumstance, I don't see the Ukrainian willing to do that for the sake of money. He is too proud to be the HW unified champion and it's been a long time since we see it. So I will say that Usyk finished Fury again and again, proved that he is the best HW in this new era.
3  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Israil Madrimov vs Terrence Crawford on: June 06, 2024, 10:55:01 AM
Now that Deontay Wilder lost against Zhang, he is not fighting in this card against hot undefeated prospect Jared Anderson. There were earlier rumors that Zhang is the one that will replace but Martin Bakole is offically the guy that will fight Anderson. This is another great showdown, between two heavyweight prospects and there's a lot of opportunity for the winner.

As for Vergil Ortiz, it seems like he is out of the card. Maybe they're having a hard time finding for Tszyu's replacement. Earlier, Ryan Garcia volunteered and Ortiz was happy to face him. But maybe it was only a bluff by Ryan Garcia to tell his huge fanbase that he is not scared to fight anybody at any weight.

But in any case, Ryan Garcia has a pending case because of his supposedly used of Ostarine, so I doubt that he can just get a fight right now until the decision is handled to him (most likely suspension, for how long, we don't know as of this time).

Odds for this fight though hasn't move a bit, Madrimov is still a huge underdog at 5:1. I think the odds is about right, although he had a good record, but I don't see him getting a upset here against Crawford. And we might see Terence becoming a world champion again, this time at 154 lbs.
4  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Deontay Wilder Vs Zhilei Zhang JUNE 1 Heavyweight on: June 06, 2024, 10:35:47 AM
Deontay Wilder should just retire IMO. But I can feel that he is a proud man and he might continue fighting. He already undergo several psychological tests and camps since his first loss to Fury in their second fight. And here he is, suffering his fourth defeat of his long career. Money is absolutely not a problem since his trilogy with Fury but I expect him to continue fighting.

That's what happen to most boxers who are in the brink of retirement or just over the hill and no longer in their primes. Maybe he will still have one last fight, but if he fought a rated HW, he might get knockout again. So it's better for him to just retire for good and not look for any fight in the future.

Anyways, I am curious who's next for Zhang. Maybe AJ or Dubois? I want Zhang for AJ but maybe the Chinese is too dangerous while giving low reward.

Dubois is now the interim IBF champion and it was reported that AJ could be his next fight, or maybe wait for the Usyk vs Fury and then him fighting for the regular IBF champion. So let's see how it goes for him, and with his big win against Hrgovic, it really opens a lot of door for him.
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Technological War: Distraction and Opportunity in the Bitcoin World on: June 06, 2024, 09:49:03 AM
These days, I am planning to start writing the first proposal for a PhD degree, so I looked at the academic programs of universities, and it is really bad. Some of the finer specializations and sub-disciplines are being taught at the bachelor’s or master’s level, so this kind of education will not change anything. If you teach students about Bitcoin and they have a certificate about Bitcoin, it will not change. One thing, students must include the basic concepts in economics, and Bitcoin is one of the solutions, but they must know how the economy works first.

Yeah, maybe during our times, like 20-30 years ago, the basic economic principle is being taught in schools or universities and we are glad that we are the generation that really learned a lot from that time. But not it has evolved, we have this opportunity now to have Bitcoin and understand the basic principle and then make a lot of money and apply what we have learn in the previous generations and apply it right now.

And as per what the OP stated, being a long term bitcoin investor could be a must for the majority of us. I mean 2017 could be the golden era of bitcoin. and fast forward we are what like almost 99% of bitcoin already mined? So just image what will be the price in the future, next 3 halvings is going to be huge so we should look long term, invest and be a holder.
6  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: June 05, 2024, 08:27:28 PM
Might be interesting to see Teo Lopez vs Ryan Garcia as the center piece of the fight. And how do you think the match in this fight besides the fighter that I mentioned?

I wouldn't be surprised if Ryan is the heavy favorite if this fight happens. This is one of the fights I would like to see this year—two warriors going against each other. I'm sure it will end with a knockout from either boxer, but I would always back Ryan to win here as I'm impressed with his performance against Haney. I'm not sure if Teo is quick enough to negate Ryan's reach advantage, which I'm sure Ryan will use to prevent Teo's attacks and to dominate the fight.

It certainly will be very head scratching if Ryan Garcia is the heavy favorite against Teo Lopez. If he will be chosen by the oddsmakers as the favorite, it will be a small favorite, I reckon. I am very much aware that Ryan won vs. Devin Haney, however, this might imply more that Devin Haney might not be as good as the hype than King Ry is a very good boxer. If you tell me that I am wrong, watch Devin Haney vs. Loma. I speculate Teo will be the favorite for this fight.

Devin Haney was the outstanding favorite because he was a champion and coming from a big victory from Regis Prograis, a natural 140 lbs and he knock him down. While Ryan won but it was just a tune up fight then. But I do agree that if ever the two will face in the ring, Teo will be the slight favorite against Ryan even though he just won against Devin Haney.

It's just one performance of Ryan against a top caliber fighter, but now it's been tainted with controversies and it could really be a factor as why he would be the underdog against Teo. I'm seeing like 1.6-8x odds for Teo and they Ryan around 2.5-2.8x, something around that line.
7  Economy / Speculation / Re: After the dip in crypto, when are we expecting ath? on: June 05, 2024, 08:07:38 PM
With the information I gathered about cryptocurrency, I had interest and decided to buy some coins.
Being fully aware of the volatility of these coins, I was patient and did not panic as their were various degrees of ups and down and was told that this year is the best time to invest in crytocurrency due to the bitcoin halving which has taken place. I have been watching my coins dropping everyday in value thereby inducing fear in me as the value of what I invested has been on the continuous decline.
I do not know how soon they will begin to rise again.
We never know either but we live with hope and trust that the market will always recover after the dip, we just need to stay strong and patient enough as it was not right to happen instantly. That is also why we should choose the right coins, those coins that have been known for their profit potential, not just because it was introduced in social media. Keeping these things has no chance of losing but rather earning money.

Currently, the price of Bitcoin is at $67,766, which is not high enough to say for ATH but we can expect it until next year. Was not long to wait if we were patient.

We have a big jump already, after the price is hovering around $67k, it now moved about $70k but still very far from the last all time high of $73k. So it think take quite sometime to get into $71k after the block halving last month and it just shows that the market is taking sometime to settle down. But it doesn't mean that we will not having a break out run, it's that we should wait for that perfect time.

Maybe there are news in the last 24-48 hours that makes the investors pour their money again. So we will see, it will take a lot of patience, I mean we have been in the bear market already, seeing lowest low of $15k, so why need to rush and see new all time high? We can at least wait till next year 2025 because there is a big speculation that 6 digits is very possible in this bull cycle.
8  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What do you really want from gambling? on: June 05, 2024, 01:16:17 PM
1. What exactly do you want from gambling? Say it, even if it's something you don't think is possible to achieve.
2. What steps have you take to see if you can achieve that which you want from gambling?

Or

Are you like me? Gambling with no sense of goal, direction?

Let's have a healthy discussion.

Try to answer the best I can,

1. I think the foremost goal is to win some money, and yeah it's possible to achieved but you need a lot of luck in your side in order to win big.

2. Well I guess there's nothing. You just have to be positive that maybe one day, even with just a minimum bet, you can win the grand price. Just like recently my neighbor here who hit a Grand jackpot in a land base casino, worth almost $20k. He said that he didn't have the intention to gamble that time, but he don't know, it's like there's some mysterious thing that pulling him up to play and with that particular machine.
9  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: June 05, 2024, 12:37:34 PM
I’m seeing news reports that the Lakers are finalizing a deal to make JJ Redick their new head coach. This will make people crazy as LeBron already has a podcast with him. With LeBron getting the coach he wanted, you have to start thinking that maybe he’ll get them to draft Bronny too. Next season will be another drama filled one for the Lakers. Anthony Davis trade to Chicago? Talks happening there too…

That's a strange decision by the Lakers management. In fact, they fired one inexperienced head coach and plan to hire a rookie head coach who is even more inexperienced. If this is LeBron's initiative, then yes, we can expect Bronny to sign with the Lakers as well. Probably, the Lakers management is doing this just to keep LeBron on the team for at least one more season.

Yeah, it was also a surprised that they are going to get JJ Reddick as a coach as I think he doesn't have the experienced to head a team like the Lakers with superstars like Lebron James and Davis. So this could be another mistake for them, like getting Ham as a coach and then he didn't get the respect of the players.

So let's see though how Reddick will do, I guess him being a loud mouth and being in the social media platform really paid dividends for him. Although if the management didn't get what they wanted from him, I wouldn't be surprised that he will be out as well.
10  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports betting - How to determine if the line is a trap? on: June 05, 2024, 12:08:20 PM
Lately, I've been using a simple strategy in sports betting by spotting lines that are overvalued or undervalued, which could easily attract public bets. Based on my record, I've had some success using this strategy. I realize that looking at stats alone to determine which team is better will not work. As gamblers, we have to do what others are not doing. A typical gambler will just look at the stats to determine the better team; they don't complicate things or consider other factors, which sometimes leads them to fall into traps.

By looking at the line, you can already tell if there's something wrong with it, and you'll choose to be on the right side even if your heart says otherwise. So, guys, this is just my personal observation. Tell me if I'm overthinking, if I'm wrong about this, or if this really is the key to winning.

I don't think that odd makers are putting a trap for us, it's that the line could have been very close and it's going to be 50/50 no matter how you look at it. We shouldn't over complicated things as a gambler because if we did, we might have to look at a lot of factors before betting and so it might lead to losses if we will overthink.

I mean in sports betting it's only two teams that we are going to bet, and if we see the ML is not that attractive then look at the handicap and other betting options. The problem sometimes is that if we don't like the odds for the favorite, we look for other betting options that is appealing but we all know that the risk is going to be too high for that bet and the chance to lose is high.
11  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: June 04, 2024, 09:28:43 PM
^^ I'm hearing about this Xander Zayas though, a good prospect from Puerto Rico when a good knockout ratio of 66% but he is at 154 lbs and not in the division of Shakur Stevenson of 135 lbs, so maybe you might have mistaken him for another boxer.

Maybe it could be Zepeda or Shakur or Zepeda vs Loma at 135 lbs.

Not sure if they can push a Ryan Garcia fight because definitely, I'm not seeing him having a fight for this year or even in the first quarter of 2025 because of the controversial allegation on him that he uses ban substance against his fight with Haney.
12  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for June on: June 04, 2024, 09:11:54 PM
The bitcoin price has risen again to $71K this means it is getting closer to $75K this month but we predict mid-month it can reach the desired target this is also some positive news if I'm not mistaken Australian ETF approval.

I am a little calm for June because many people predict bullishness will come quickly although this is a little doubtful we see bitcoin resistance will rise, we wait that this is the moment where bitcoin momentum is good enough.

Vote: YES.

Still very early to call though, it's good that there is a Australian ETF approval, but I don't think it will be enough to push the market to $75k. Remember that when the US Spot Bitcoin ETF was approved, the effect was not immediate, it took months before we finally see $73k and established new all time high.

June is not the start of the bullishness in my opinion. It will be the last quarter if we look at the history. But then again, we might see a new trend since we already reaches new all time high prior to the halving. And it's good that we have a breakout run to $70k at the start of this month, but we should be cautious and not expect something big, just saying.
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Future Transaction Prices on: June 04, 2024, 04:50:32 PM
I am working to get my bitcoin off of exchanges and into cold storage but I had a question regarding transaction prices. As more adopt Bitcoin, transaction prices are going to increase as there is more demand for blockspace. Is there any documentation or research into what transaction fees may look like in a world where Bitcoin is more widely accepted? I am worried that from an individual level the blockspace may become so valuable that moving Bitcoin on and off a personal cold wallet may be unfeasibly costly for the average user.

No, there's no documentation about it because that variable is dynamic. There are days that the transaction fees are so low, or at least during the bear market, we can transaction with 1 sat/vB. Until such time that there are grows of people who clogged the mempool, thus pushing the fees very high and there are people who says that Bitcoin is no good for p2p transactions.

My understanding is at the current moment while it is still becoming adopted, the value of the Bitcoin held should scale with the transaction costs. I am more wondering about long term viability of personal cold wallets, and how the different layer 2+ scaling projects (lightning, Fedimint, etc.) as well as custodial services may play into the long-run transaction costs. Anyone with knowledge or resources they could point me to would be greatly appreciated!

it could be, or it may not, even if adoption grows, maybe we can see the transaction fees not going up. Cold wallet and layer 2 are two different things. Cold wallet refers to the wallet itself, while layer 2 is LN. You may want to read it here, [General] Bitcoin Wallets - Which, what, why?
14  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Summer Olympics 2024 on: June 04, 2024, 02:08:38 PM
If break dancing became an Olympic sports , why are not Esports there ? they have much more influence on people , they attract way more viewers and the young generation simply loves to watch some CounterStrike, Dota2 , League of Legends and other esports games so I think some sports deserve a chance to shine at Olympics. Overall , break-dancing competition will be wild and I'm sure they will put up a show to remember.
I don't think it is about influence or if it will attract more viewers, I am not really sure if the ICC is the one who said it or not but from what I remember one of the talking points that is being made about why Esports should not be in the Olympics is that it is not a physical sport(not as physical as all the sports currently available in the Olympics), also, I think they have the same sentiment as to why chess is not in the Olympics.

Yes, it's more likely that Esports is not physical enough for them to be considered as a sports, so no dice for them and sorry for those fan based here. Maybe you mean IOC though International Olympic Committee, instead of ICC.

Let's see how break dancing will be, for sure with so many youth into it, might be one of the most anticipated enough, together with the Mens Basketball as US is sending the best NBA players they got, and then track and field.
15  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: June 04, 2024, 05:52:29 AM
But if we look at the Celtics, they made it before against the Warriors, while this is the first time that the Mavs will advance in the finals with Luka. And most likely if they didn't get Kyrie, there will be no help from Luka again.

And for Kyrie, he had won a ring already, and he did played with the Celtics a couple of years back and it didn't went well with the Celtics that time. This angle is also being look at this finals, wherein analyst are seeing the Kyrie will want to win badly another ring and it will be at the expense of his former team.

Experience doesn't matter a lot anymore. We have to look at which team is better. If we consider experience as one of the biggest factors in determining the chances of winning, what do we make of the Wolves vs. Nuggets series, where a team led by a young superstar beat the defending champion?

The Celtics may have been in the NBA Finals before, but we can't underestimate Dallas here, as they beat the team that defeated the defending champion. Additionally, they battled against a healthy team, unlike the Celtics, whose journey to the finals was relatively easy.

But those two works hand in hand, Wolves are betting in terms of standing and they beat the defending champion, the Denver Nuggets. But look at how they got destroyed by the Mavs because they don't have that kind of experience in the West conference finals while Luka has been there and so is Irving.

So experience is important in the finals and of course, the coach and it's play and the execution. Jason Kidd has the edge as far as NBA experience goes so we will give credit to him if they win this NBA championship.
16  Economy / Economics / Re: Don't fall for the "Beauty premium" of some coin/site on: June 03, 2024, 08:40:19 PM
Yeah that's a very good point. Nowadays as people have became so materialistic thats why they just see the beautiful branding of the projects and that's enough to make them to invest in that project. It shouldn't be like that due this the good projects which can't afford heavy brandings are made aside.

Fundamentals is the most important aspect that should be looked after in order to make the investments so that the people who doesn't the positive work can be appreciated.
Just like they say “do not judge a book by its cover”. Some projects may look too simple but its utility is what matters the most. We need to review those intently instead of just basing on what looks good and what doesn’t look good.

As long as it can be used properly, its interface wouldn’t matter too much. Of course it could be improved but you have to consider that just because it’s not as advanced as others it means that it’s a bad project already.

Correct, and it's how we can used a project in real life, not just for aesthetics or simply put, for pure hype and pump and dump coins. And I think investors are getting smart now, they really look for the coin/site or project and what it can bring in the table for them not just for the profit itself.

But there are projects that are really design by developers to be like this, I mean p&d and after that, they will left the project dead and then be de-listed by exchanges. And the thing is that the crypto space is already saturated, so we should really be careful of selecting which project to invest and what utility they can offer and be used by us.
17  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: June 03, 2024, 08:15:58 PM
I am not entirely sure if Dallas is the favourites, sure they did manage to beat some tough teams to get here, and even beat some tough teams that beat other tough teams, hence why many think that it is quite possible for Dallas to win.

They are not the betting favorite, as per the odds already released by casinos.

But, we need to remember that Boston has been quite strong as well. Just because they manage to beat their opponents easily, doesn't mean they had easy opponents, it just means that we are going to end up seeing a team that is actually quite good. I am not saying Boston will win, I am just saying Dallas doesn't have a sure thing here, we are going to probably see both teams go head to head quite strong, and I can see that this could also be a six or seven game series as well, they are quite evenly matched.

As far as regular season goes, they are the best team, as they have the best record and then they are boasted by Jayson Tatum and Brown. It's just Dallas has one of the best player right now in Luka. But I will be taking the Celtics here at -4.5 in game one and then see how it goes. Porzingis will be back as he is badly needed, so I think he will contribute here and Tatum and Brown doesn't want to happen to them when they go to the finals 2 years ago and lost to the Warriors.
18  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: June 03, 2024, 01:39:56 PM
I'm reading some good stats on this finals, Luka and Kyrie averages 51.6, while Tatum and Brown averages 51.0. So that even out everything if they are going to play that big in the finals. And again, we all know that defense win the game, so we will see how each team will have their best defenders, like White and Jrue Holiday for the Celtics and then we have PJ Washington, Derrick Jones Jr., or even Josh Green and Dante Exum.

So it's really a intriguing finals match-up, Kyrie harboring resentment against the Celtics, and then Tatum and Brown trying to erase that stigma against the Warriors in 2022 wherein they have a good lead in the series only to crumble down.

It's a system game between them I know players win the game like MJ said, but it's more on how the coach will design their plays, I think the series will be a game of adjustments, though both of them deserves to win as they are now in the finals, but who will win will depend to who's more hunger to take the trophy,  it going to be rely to how fans believe on them and for sure both teams got their own crowd that relying to how they'll going to play their game during the series.

Tatum and Brown are just being hype, when Kyrie played with the Celtics, he was their best player, and now he is back, he is still very confident as the was their leader before. Kyrie and Luka were the real superstar here, and a real superstar knows how to win games in clutch, and honestly (no offense), I don't see both Tatum and Brown are good in clutch times.

I could be wrong though, but sorry, this is just my personal opinion and I can't lie although it might hurt the Celtcis fans.

19  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can you ignore/resist cheating to secure a winning bet? on: June 03, 2024, 12:00:58 PM
Given benefits of doubt to those gamblers who says gambling is a game of entertainment which they only gambles for fun and those who prioritize gambling to make profits, do you think those who claims gambling for funs can ignore or resist any given cheating opportunity to secure winning knowing that it could multiply their stakes in returns? Because if they can not, then absolutely they don't game for fun but for profit interests.

Then I would say all gamblers have the same goals of betting to make profit rather their volume of desires differs where there are desperate and contented gamblers

So if you are one of the specified fun gamblers, can you resist cheating opportunity and just rely your winning on your own ability?

Mind you: Cheating is cheating on whichever way as long you sources your winning outside your ability

I don't know, but I'm under the impression that anyone is looking to win regardless if you're playing for fun or not. So who knows, when the opportunity presents itself there could be gamblers that's willing to take that risk and cheat even if they know the consequences of it.

Or there could be gamblers that will not do it because their decision is not clouded and they know that if cheat and found out by the casinos, chances are they are going to be ban for good and can't even withdraw the money that they won or at least their initial capital. So it's up to the individual to put the risk into the next level.
20  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Deontay Wilder Vs Zhilei Zhang JUNE 1 Heavyweight on: June 03, 2024, 11:45:16 AM
And that's good that we won't see this fight as this would've been an embarrassment for Wilder. He used to be good, up until Fury broke his spirit and then he became a guy that can't even get to fight once every 12 months. If you need more than a year to get a fight you're going to go out of shape and time is unforgiving for people in sports.
He's ending a good career with a losing streak and I won't miss him. Wilder always seemed cocky and egoistic and most people didn't like him. His style was also poor, depending on heavy hits in hope for a knockout and he showed this again in this last fight. You could see the skill difference between him and Zhang.

Being in that PBC silo for so long played against him. Wilder thought he could always win by easy knockout against opponents that were selected for him to look good against. He never really bothered trying to improve his technique and when he finally faced somebody that could stand up to him, and punish him in return, it broke him psychologically. At the end of his career he was never able to recover the confidence and ego that made him “The Bronze Bomber”. It’s a depressing way to end things, but now he must move on to the next chapter in his life and enjoy his wealth and spend time with his family.

He was just knocking out tomato cans, and that was the sense of false hope that PBC gave him during that time. Stepping up in competition is very different, three knockout lost in the last five fight? It's means that he doesn't have it anymore.

And with that, gonna be difficult for him to make a comeback and most likely he won't in the next couple of years and then he will just retire for good. Zhang could be in the discussion again, but let's see if him and Parker will have a rematch to avenge his lost.
