got incorrect temperature 511, ignore
It has resurfaced and my miner always hangs as soon as the mining starts and have to do manual reboot
It's hardware-related issue, drivers report wrong temperature, usually it means that this GPU is not stable. Check its riser, OC, PSU. When I moved the GPU to different PC it doesn't show that issue anymore. I have rolled back to v9.8. And this GPU has been mining stable for almost 2 years now. I have tried different risers (almost 20 different risers). I got 511 today, v9.8. My problem is my new PSU, 1250w PSU only support 3gpu stable. 6gpu got 511message in 5min. I changed PSU,problem sloved. Hope that helpful. |

Alright guys thanks, i'll try both solutions.
also noob question, any idea which PCIe port is GPU0 ? because that's the one stuck right now.
press “0” to disable GPU0 ,then look at MSIAfterburner , which GPU's wattage is lower , then turn that GPU's fan to 100%, now you can find out which one is that. |

Yeah definitely don't buy the Sapphire rx580's with Hynix, they're terrible cards with terrible hash rates, since they're the newest in the rx series they also have terrible resale value, the fans are terrible too and can't even keep the cards below 75deg celsius. Don't buy these, get some old (second hand) rx480s for double the price! Sapphire Rx580 Pulse 8gb Hynix Proof:  You expect that gpu to run at 50 degrees when dual mining? You're stressing it like a madman, it's like you running up a hill while carrying 2 bags of cement. I have Sapphire Pulse 580 8GB with hynix and i am ok with that cards, They are getting 29.6 MH without problems. Now i have only 2 in work the temp are ok, 62 and 58 degree. I have made some mod on them. Both with the pc are getting 340 W from the wall. So its not a bad card at all. I am happy with this model. You can check the pic for more details   Thanks for sharing. I have work it out. just like you said.about up to 28-29@ 110 watt ,it is fine. And my samsung cards are about 31.5 @ 140 watt which I prefer. lower mh/watt but making more profit. |

I have this card. I'm not a strapmeister. I can achieve 30+ with an explanation.
BIOS strapping 101: copy the 1750 strap over the higher straps. 28+ mh/s

After reading all the relevant 580 threads, treasure can be found in the AMD rebrand thread that can get this card to 30+. But......, the drawback is that this card uses more power.
yes, I did it. all the other GPU got 31mh/s , except sapphire with hynix which are still 22mh/s. sapphire with samsung did 31. sapphire with elpida did 31. xfx with samsung did 31. xfx with hynix did 31. ONLY sapphire with hynix did 22.... I tried it on 3 different GPU. All did 22... Still don't know why. |

I've gotten mine to 30+ without much difficulty... I don't understand what the hate is about. It needs a little special care, but not anything extraordinary.
It's wierd. I got 31.5mh/s Sapphire RX480/580 samsung , but only 22mh/s sapphire 580 hynix no matter how. I am still working on it. |

I have rx 580 8Gb Hynix Nitro+ 31mhs, great card for mining.
that is amazing, May I ask the default bios and tune do 22mh/s or 24mh/s? If it was 22mh/s , how did you make it to 31mh/s? Thx. |

Today, I bought 2 more Sapphire RX580 with Hynix memory, they are both run about 22mh/s, and I tune/mod bios,they are still 22mh/s.
try a different motherboard, I have an older motherboard that does the same thing on my rx400 series while flashing/overclocking them (22MH/s), but when moved to my mining motherboards they run fine Yes that is a great idea. I tried that on mobo 2 of "BIOSTAR TB250-BTC PRO"(6pcie) and "Gigabyte xxx"(my game computer ), they all do 22mh/s, but other GPU on these 3 mobo is 24mh/s means can up to 31mh/s. Maybe it is not the mobo issue? Any other advices?Thx. |

Hi all.  My shapphire rx480 with samsung memory got about 27mh/s @80watts with 1000/2250. My shapphire rx580 with samsung memory got about 27.8mh/s @120watts with 1100/2250. Seems like rx480 is better not only because the mh/watts but also the price.But 480 are sold out so I have to buy 580 instead.I can live with that. BUT yesterday I got a RX580 with hynix. No matter how I change the coreclock/memclock, IT ONLY GOT about 21mh/s @85watts.My Sapphire 480/580 with samsung always do about 27mh/s on ETH or 330 sols/s on ZEC. But this sapphire rx580 with hynix do 21mh/s on ETH or 280 sols/s on ZEC. There are 2pics @ #4th floor show that hynix only got 21mh/s. Is that regular? i didnt flash bios,only use msi afterburner. Does it means 580 with hynix sucks?what should I do ? And which brand is better than sapphire? and why is that? Thx. Hynix is good, i have RX580 4gb Hynix, run 31mh/s thx for your reply, I think there maybe something wrong only with THIS GPU, I will return it to the vendor. You can't get above 27 with ANY memory without strap mod except in rare cases. my point is the rx580 only got 21. I highlighted that point just now in case someone else dont get me. Thx. |

i've rx 480 mining eth just get 25mh/s  i think 25mh/s is fine with default bios, you can easily get 28mh/s by tune the cc/mc. But this hynix one , only get 21mh/s with default bios or tuned.  And there are someone PM me that they have the same problem. If you too,reply this topic.  |

UPDATE2: finally found out how to deal with Sapphire RX580 8GB with hynix. Its bios are the same as Sapphire with samsung, but how to mod the bios is different. With samsung, just copy 1:1750 to 1:2000, it is done. easily from 24->31mh/s. With hynix, you should copy 2:1750 to 2:2000, and tune the clocks, This will make you from 22->28mh/s. 10-15% lower is which I can live with. Those are just Sapphire , other brand don't have the issue. The good things with Sapphire is, the temperature is lower even the fans not that fast,and lower watt consumption. ---------------------------------- UPDATE: conclusion: If your GPU is Sapphire 580 with Hynix, it sucks. I bought 3 Sapphire 580 hynix, they are all 22mh/s top. But XFX RX580 hynix is 24mh/s which means good. Sapphire RX580 samsung is 24mh/s which means good too.
