4  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hello and my experience with blockchain.info and BTCPak on: April 13, 2013, 10:54:40 PM
Hello everyone, I'm new to bitcoins and I'm trying to use bitcoins for the first time.  I used my blockchain.info wallet to directly buy a BTCPak.  The server returned that there were no paks available, but it took my bitcoins anyway!  Now I'm out $1000.  So far no response from blockchain.info support, but it is a Saturday.  I came on to this forum to talk to DBordello.  He seems like a pretty upstanding fellow, and I hope he can help me.  I saw his postings here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=64805.0

Google turned up at least two other people who had lost their money the same way.  I hope BTCPak is not a scam, and I can get my bitcoins back.  Anyway, wish me luck!

good luck!
5  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Data directory size vs. blockchain size on: April 13, 2013, 10:02:33 PM
Hi forum,

I am currently using bitcoin-qt from bitcoin-0.8.1-linux.tar.gz.
I am wondering why my data directory ".bitcoin" has a size (du -sh) of 9.7G, while the current blockchain size is only 6445 MB, according to http://blockchain.info/charts/blocks-size .

What's the size of your data directory?

about the same...
6  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what the difficult mean, when you mine? on: April 13, 2013, 10:00:18 PM
i can't understand what the difficulty mean, when you mine, setting this value to high is better?

no, you don't set this.

it's how hard (difficult) it will be to get coins. it gets harder the more other people mine and easier when less other people are mining.
