2  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Does Covid-19 comes from Bat or Because of Installation of 5G towers? on: April 05, 2020, 02:11:19 PM
5G installers are actually being threatened and harassed.

Yes, this sounds ridiculous, but is indeed true. We've had a lot of reported incidents here in England. People are imbeciles. I'd assumed that our intellectual wattage had moved above this sort of level hundreds of thousands of years ago. Apparently not.

"On Thursday, police in Belfast appealed for information after a mobile phone mast was damaged in an arson attack, with online footage suggesting the motive was opposition to 5G networks.
The video clip shows an incident on the Antrim Road in north Belfast on Thursday night, in which flames can be seen at the base of a mobile telephone mast.
According to a report in the Irish News, voices can be heard stating “Fuck the 5G” and “Viva la revolution” as the fire burns.
Facebook removed one anti-5G group in which members were being encouraged to supply footage of them destroying mobile phone equipment. Video footage of a 70ft (20m) telephone mast on fire in Birmingham this week has also circulated widely alongside claims it was targeted by anti-5G protesters.
The problem has become so bad that engineers working for Openreach, which provides home broadband services, have posted pleas on anti-5G Facebook groups, asking to be spared from on-street abuse as they are not involved in maintaining mobile networks."

And here's a photo from last week of a burning mobile mast in the UK.

3  Other / Politics & Society / Re: I woke up to see a very disturbing twitter trend from the Asian country India. on: April 05, 2020, 01:55:05 PM
The trend on Twitter was Muslim means a terrorist, basically they’re calling all Muslims a terrorist which is not good for a secular country like India.

Modi wants to wipe out Islam in India. He always has. He got involved with the RSS (the Hindu supremacist paramilitary group) at the age of eight, and joined full time in 1971 (he was born in 1950). This anti-Muslim rampage in India is not new, it's been going on since Modi took office. It is just perhaps more visible now than previously.

I was going to have a long rant about it, but actually this article covers everything much better than I could: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/feb/20/hindu-supremacists-nationalism-tearing-india-apart-modi-bjp-rss-jnu-attacks

the old onle take from the medical system and the economy, they don't give anymore, so its great of a virus wipes them out

I'm not sure how to respond to this. I don't think we should measure the value of a human life in purely economic terms. Do you really want to live in a society where we deliberately kill anyone who currently takes more out of the economy than they are putting in? This is what you are suggesting, isn't it? Because employing a strategy that lets the virus kill the old and the vulnerable is no different to rounding them all up and shooting them, you're just substituting the virus for a gun trigger. Also I italicised the word 'currently' back there because of course plenty of these people will have paid hugely into society over the preceding decades, and will have put in much more than they have taken out over the course of their lifetime. Think about for example people who fought to save your country in WW2. A strategy of 'they are now old so let's kill them' seems morally abhorrent.
5  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Corona Pandemy is a gift from God on: April 04, 2020, 09:51:58 PM
It's a gift from God because it relieves stresses on the medical system?
Surely the best way to relieve stress on the medical system is to, you know, properly fund the medical system. In preference to killing the old and the vulnerable.

Your God sounds like a f.ing psychopath.

Also, why is my autocorrect capitalising an abstract noun?
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XRP] Ripple Speculation on: April 04, 2020, 08:28:49 AM
I do think that XRP price will recover eventually. It's just so much of crypto is still speculation-driven, and it leads to runaway price movements, down as well as up. XRP still has one of the strongest use cases out there, and is way ahead of so many other cryptos in terms of integration with the 'real' world. A lot at the moment hinges on the legal rulings and potential for more court cases. I'm confident XRP will survive all this, and prices will then rise.

back when I was still mining Bitcoin, before the gold rush happened

Yes, I am also from a proud old bitcoin-mining family. Thank you for the old-timey photo! So strange looking back on them now, in a way they almost don't seem real.
Here is a photo of my Uncle Jack. He was a bitcoin miner back in the good old days. But he did sometimes use faucets, too. The faucet in the picture was really paying out that day. Ah, good times.

What you posted is not your public key bruh, but Bateson the Brush  Smiley ->>>https://newsar.org.uk/2019/02/continuing-support-from-essar-loggerheads-spar-shop/

But my key is not on the noticeboard in your photo. That must have been after it got taken. Are you friends with my Uncle Peter?
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Decentralised is a scam on: April 01, 2020, 03:17:39 PM
A very good joke on April 1st Smiley
Cool april fools story bruh,  Grin
It is not a joke and it is rude to call me the fool. But yes I am the fool, I will accept that name because I was a fool to trust decentralised. Blockchain is supposed to be trustless and I was the fool for putting trust in it.

You may really have to investigate your Uncle Peter. Don't worry about his eye brows, I can pull them out for you. I live near a saloon where brazilian wax is almost free.
Thank you for the kind offer but I really need him to keep those eyebrows. They are the best warning signal for when he is about to lose his shit.

And thank you for the tip-off. I did investigate and I found this photo in his wallet. I think he is mugging people. You may be right that he is a criminal and maybe the burglar??? Also why does he wear Aunt Mary's cooking uniform? She doesn't like him doing that because of his left leg is too big and it stretches the fabric.

Why do you equate your house key with a public key?
Because when I put it on the public noticeboard it was public. I did that because I decentralised my whole life. This is why I leave my clothes all over the house instead of in the cupboard. But now I don't have the cupboard because the thieves took it and Uncle Peter's eyebrows are getting even worse. You should see them they are truly a sight to behold. Also his nostrils keep flaring a lot I think he needs to calm down it is only a cupboard.

P.S. today is April 01, 2020
I know what day it is. That is about the only thing I know for sure right now. I am so confused about decentralised.
13  Economy / Trading Discussion / Problem with cashing out to fiat on: April 01, 2020, 04:49:48 AM
I had a kinda weird experience cashing out to fiat and I want to know if anyone else has had similar.

So I made a killing in crypto and decided to cash out. I converted my bitcoins to fiat and sent them to my bank account. Easy so far. But the money didn't appear on my balance. I went into my bank to ask them what was happening...

The lady at the bank said because the money came from cryptocurrencies they wouldn't be legally allowed to process it, so it wouldn't get added to my balance. I basically said this is theft and asked what she was going to do about it and could I see the manager. I stomped about a bit and let me tell you I was wearing those boots that Uncle Peter got me with the metal heels and I made quite a commotion.

This is when she backed down and she said I could still have the money, but I would have to have it as bitcoin and not as fiat. Okay, so long as I get to keep my money. I can try to cash it out another way. This was two bitcoins which is a lot of money for me so quite a big deal.

So then she rummages around behind her desk and then puts these on the counter. I picked them up in disbelief. WTF, you may be thinking. No, WTAF.

I picked them up and they weren't even metal like proper bitcoins, they had this kind of cheap plasticky feel. Then to make it worse she says "Oh I forgot to deduct our fees." And she gets out this cheese grater thing and starts filing away the edge of one of my bitcoins, and she scoops up all the plastic bits with a little shovel and pours them into the till. It is important to quantify things so I used my phone to take a photo of how much she filed off. To me it looks way way too much. Please tell me, is this a normal amount for banking fees? I think she was scamming me. Seriously she scraped off like a third of that thing which is just extortionate, right?

So now I have one proper bitcoin and one damaged one, but I think they are plastic anyway. I put them in an envelope and mailed them to an exchange, but they didn't get added to my balance there either. I think there has been a hard fork and they no longer take plastic coins because it is not hard like metal. If they had a soft fork I would be fine. But this is the way of crypto, us wise old heads who have been in the game for a while learn to take the rough with the smooth, and the soft with the hard but this is the first time I have taken the plastic with the metal.

Anyway, has anyone else had this? A couple of weeks ago the exchange said my bitcoins were worth over $10,000 and now they say they are worth nothing. I am feeling confused and angry, and I think from my exposure to these plastic bitcoins I may have contracted this crypto volatility that is so fashionable these days.

14  Other / Meta / Merritt source on: April 01, 2020, 04:47:11 AM
Like most people here I like the thought of earning lots of merritt and ranking up. I have found it quite difficult, but then I heard about this fabulous merritt source thing. Now for the uninitiated what happens is that a merritt sauce is basically a top-ranking member of the forum who puts out a load of good posts, and then they become like a tap for free merritt. I thought it was limited to this forum and only the legendary accounts, you know them, the grizzled old-timers who lurk in the WO thread. They are always talking about merritt sauces and other mysteries. But imagine my surprise when I found you can actually buy this stuff from outside the forum. Hot damn. I bought a crate of it. It's only like $8 a go, what could go wrong?

I'll tell you what can go wrong: plenty. I thought I could rank up really quickly, so I downed a whole bottle of the god-damned stuff. Their website actually states "I can say with 100% certainty this will be your favorite hot sauce of all time" You know what? It's really not. I checked and my merritt hasn't increased at all it's still stuck at 350.
This thing is a joke. It's an absolute joke. Plus it made my throat burn like the fires of hell. I can literally feel the little demons sticking their tiny pitchforks into my osophogos eospophogous f you autocorrect throat. I drank about a gallon of milk and the flames keep coming. Now my stomach is making some terrifying noises and I can't get to sleep. So for those who want lots of merritt this is a cautionary tale. Honestly it is just not worth it.

Damn it just seen further down the page it says this merritt stuff will "Burn Your Ass a Lil". Guess I've probably got another 24 hours of this hell. Thank you crypto /sarcasm. I should never have listend to Jef who dragged me into this bitcoin shitr shit.

15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Decentralised is a scam on: April 01, 2020, 04:44:00 AM
Decentralised is a scam and I will explain why.

So I got into bitcoin a couple years ago and I thought decentralised is the future, and I will embrace this with my mind and also my body.
I thought everything bitcoin is good and I decided to go all-in. Decentralise my whole life. Yeah! Because then I can STICK IT TO THE MAN. Skillz.

I got a copy made of my front door key and I hung it on the noticeboard in the corner shop. This is my public key. And I put my public address up with it because that is public too. But I am not stupid I have my private key in my house but I will not tell you where in my house. Maybe it is under my sofa. Maybe the secret floorboard. Maybe it is in that cupboard I got from Uncle Peter. I will not tell you. But it is not in the kitchen. And that floorboard is not in the kitchen it is somewhere else. Anyway the kitchen smells because of the cat food so maybe try the bathroom or something or the living room.

Public Key

Uncle Peter

Huh Private Key Huh I will not tell you

Anyway when I got back from work yesterday someone had got into my house and STOLEN ALL MY STUFF. I mean there was literally several DOLLARS worth of stuff. And now Uncle Peter is angry because I done lost that cupboard and it is a famerlee hair loom and he is doing that eyebrow thing he does so I know it is bad.

Uncle Peter now

So the lesson to everyone else is don't trust decentralised it is a scam. My private key recovery phrase is F**K YOU DECENTRALISED YOU STOLE MY STUFF. You can tell me I shouldn't share my phrase, but I got robbed just from public key so I learned that private key doesn't matter the whole thing is all a scam. Goodnight bitcointalk mic drop.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will only the best survive? on: March 31, 2020, 08:03:05 PM
financial system is unstable. Almost all countries are giving "helicopter money" which is printed in huge amounts by governments and banks. Of course in short period of time - it will help, but as I can see in long-term it will cause the inflation, and it is going to "kill" middle class people. Why? 1st, inflation will decrease their saving, 2nd - interesting rates must go up to save the economy. It will make credits much more expensive than they are right now. 3rd - a lots of people will lose their job.

You are absolutely correct. We are sitting on another financial crisis. Last time the banks got bailed out, and bitcoin was created in response. This time the bailout extends further. The deficiences of fiat are revealed yet again. The time for bitcoin is coming... will it be now? Hard to say. Maybe this time it is too early, but yes, soon bitcoin will become the ultimate value store and supplant gold and silver.

The only thing is I would recommend you buy some bitcoin as well as alts. As soon as money starts coming back to crypto, it's likely that bitcoin will lead any price surge. Not definite, of course, just this is usually how it works, and alts follow afterwards.

17  Economy / Economics / Re: How many people have been panic selling? I didn't. on: March 29, 2020, 09:33:26 AM
It is fine not to sell anything if you believe strongly in the long-term future of crypto. Trading can of course be immensely profitable, but it can be very stressful as well, and does provoke a tendency to be constantly checking for price movements. I know some people say those who just hold long-term are missing out on big profits, but they are also missing out on stress and the possibility of big losses by selling at the wrong time.

Personally I think long-term holding of solid coins - particularly bitcoin - is a perfectly good strategy.

I tried to cover both approaches, I sold some and held some. The stuff I held I bought back lower and increased my holdings. But not as much as I would have if I'd sold everything. The trade-off was reduced stress and reduced risk, and I'm happy with that.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which crypto pair do you swap most often? on: March 29, 2020, 09:17:34 AM
For me volumes are key. So long as it's a reputable exchange, I would generally trade on the one with higher volumes. The more volume there is, the smaller the gap between the top buy order and the bottom sell order. Basically if you sell at market price then instantly buy back at market price, you are making a loss dependent on the size of the gap. The smaller the gap, the better chance you have of making a profit.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Would you market a project if it paid you this much ? on: March 29, 2020, 09:06:14 AM
I think you should remove the term "pyramid scheme" from your post because it's very negative in the cryptocurrency world. In addition, matching this term with the name of the project, unfortunately, negatively affects its image.
Exactly what I was going to say.

a referral program that works like a "pyramid scheme" but without a scheme Smiley
If you say something is like a pyramid scheme, but isn't a pyramid scheme, then people won't see the word "isn't", they'll just see the phrase "pyramid scheme". It may help for illustration purposes, but I think it will be very counterproductive. If this isn't a pyramid scheme, then just don't mention the phrase at all.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Can ETH reach $5k in this up cycle ? on: March 29, 2020, 08:55:57 AM
There is no chance whatsoever that ETH can reach $5k anytime soon. Appreciate this thread was started before the coronavirus outbreak, but even if it hadn't happened, $5k would be very optimistic. ETH is certainly a great project and they are progressing well with the roadmap towards hybrid PoS and 2.0 ... but that sort of huge sudden increase for a high cap coin seems very unlikely.
