5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / [ANN] Premine (PMC) Swap to PreminePlus (PMP) on: June 25, 2014, 08:41:10 AM

Hello friends and community members.
If you hadn't heard, Premine (PMC) is going through some labor pains.
Soon PMC will end and from its ashes will rise PMP.

If you are not familiar, Premine was the first entirely free 100% giveaway. It was also an experiment to see what will happen after the block subsidy ends and mining must be sustained solely by transaction fees. The experiment will continue on, carrying over what we have learned from PMC into its successor PMP. This time it will be backed by the full force of the PMC community and the community will decide how it lives and how it dies.

This is not the Official Announcement for PMP..
This is a Swap Announcement to let you know how and when you can swap your old coins (PMC) over to the new protocol (PMP). We have premined enough coins to cover every single PMC, all though we expect a large portion of these coins to have been lost permanently. A portion of whats left over will be used to fund bounties for development of whatever the community decides is important (chat? anon messaging? you decide!). Afterward whatever is not exchanged will be destroyed publicly.
Don't worry if you didn't take part in the first PMC experiment, we premined enough to have a great big giveaway for you too! Just like the first giveaway it will be completely fair and transparent. More details on that in our Launch & Giveaway Announcement.

New guidelines:
To more closely match the giveaway schedule Swapped coins will be allocated over the next 3 months. With 30% the first month, 30% the second and the final 40% at month 3. This will help protect the currency from whales dumping and allow it to appreciate in value without steady downward pressure.
As well, to compensate the reduction in max coins, PMC swapped will be at a reduced rate of 3:1.
Please understand your stake % is the exact same amount (i.e. 100/1000 or 10/100, etc).

Step 1: Open the old PMC wallet, send all your PMC to the official burn address 1PMCxxxSWAPxxxToxxxPMPxxxXXXUfNchW
Step 2: Copy and save your transaction id
Step 3: Download our new (temp) PMP wallet https://mega.co.nz/#!XEggxLTJ!zPibDE_PeWxYZSDu4pRv9psf1N6FSOusLBCSdStgL84
Step 4: Put the included .conf file in the roaming/PreminePlus directory
Step 5: Open the new wallet and copy your new PMP Address
Step 6: Message PMCswap with your transaction id and new PMP wallet address (DO NOT POST TX OR WALLET IN THIS THREAD)
Step 7: Check the public excel doc later to make sure your transaction amount and PMP address are correct.
Step 8: ? ? ?
Step 9: PROFIT!

The PMC/PMP revival is being managed by myself with help from longtime community members such as kbroadfoot and Nullu
To ensure transparency different members are being assigned different tasks. kbroadfoot will be helping with the swap, while Nullu will be helping with the giveaway.

The Swap funds will be split up into two pots, 250k will go to kbroadfoot and the other 250k will stay with me. We will take turns paying out the Swap amounts until the Swap period ends.

The swap starts now! Don't worry though, we want to make sure no one gets left out so you have three months to swap your PMC. After you submit your tx id and PMP wallet address to the PMCswap user account you will be added to the public excel doc and we will send your new coins.

6  Bitcoin / Project Development / [team-up] Looking for experienced programmer for cryptocurrency development on: June 05, 2014, 11:51:51 PM
Hi everyone,
I'm just posting this in the off chance some like-minded individual sees it and maybe wants to get a bit more information.
I've got some light programming experience from a web development background and all though I don't know the exact syntax or terminology I have no trouble communicating concepts in psuedo-code. I have experience working with developers and project management.

To make a long story short, I've been playing around with a concept for a cryptocurrency protocol that takes up magnitudes less space than the current blockchain model. As well it is (in theory) completely anonymous while remaining secure.

For obvious reasons I can't divulge the entire concept or show a whitepaper here (even if I had one, which I don't), as there would be nothing stopping an unscrupulous developer from stealing it.

I'm confident that using a unique distribution strategy, marketing and possibly bounty funds it could be a profitable venture and more importantly, beneficial to the cryptocurrency community.

One of the major drawbacks of the current Blockchain model in my mind is blockchain bloat. We have bitcoin with 13 GB after 4 years, with minimal use for the first 2 years (roughly).

New cryptocurrencies are seeing a much higher use from day one and with the addition of new features (anon, NXT asset exchange, etc) we can only imagine that these blockchains are going to get bigger.

I don't believe Kryder's law/Nielsen's law will allow us to catch up either via average broadband speed or storage space in the short term, to make every client downloading a 13GB, 30GB or at some point a 50GB blockchain a feasible solution. In the long term we can only speculate if these systems will catch up or if these blockchains will expand more rapidly than we can adapt. Whereas the blockchain grows by innovation and is only slowed by the rate of adoption; the rate of broadband proliferation is hampered by political and capitalistic dealings. In some areas of Europe you may be able to get top tier bandwidth for a very modest price and in some areas of America or Canada you may be paying twice that for three times less.

We could trust third parties to download and store these blockchains for us and trust that they will never be compromised. All though we can do this I don't think we should need to.

It makes more sense to reduce the size and information contained in the blockchain, rather than increase the size and speed of our hard drives and bandwidth to account for inefficient systems.

It is to this end that I am posting this thread in the Project Development forum to put this little hook out there.
I have an idea and I would be more than happy to share this with one or two friendly and experienced programmers. I am confident that with my marketing sense and ingenuity and your professional character and development experience we could create something lasting, beneficial and profitable.

If you are interested, feel free to send me a PM with a few details about your experience.
I am not looking for an employee, or a contractor, but a partner. Someone open to new ideas and new ways of thinking and who can commit to seeing a project through to the end.

If this project doesn't interest you (a low storage, anonymous protocol) I don't want you to leave this thread feeling empty-handed so have this funny image:

Thanks guys!
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / [PRE-ANN] ↑ Up Coin ↑ Never going up! Details Inside ↑ SCAM @ LAUNCH on: April 04, 2014, 04:14:11 AM
The ↑ Up Coin developer is a slime-ball.
Here is the original ↑ Up Coin thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=553124.0
The original thread has been locked after many people expressed their distrust of the "developer". I also pointed out a serious logic flaw of the entire concept. He has responded by calling me a liar and an extortionist. He claims other people have tried to extort money out of him to stop posting negative comments in his thread. I obviously must be an extortionist as well because I am posting negative information about his coin. I am extremely butt-hurt about this.

I make it my mission to call bullshit on any shady looking coin launches or developments in hopes of preventing people from being scammed and discouraging scammers from continuing scam after scam. Instead of taking a "If you don't like it then just leave" attitude we should be actively pointing out any shady or suspicious activity. When they stop making money off of the scams they will stop trying to scam us. If we continue to let the newcomers get scammed we will continue to be labeled a fringe/fraud/scam/ponzi community.
Anyone can check my posting history to see what I say is true and If I have ever extorted ANYONE I would beg them to come forward and tell the community.

The developer has conveniently made a new self-moderated thread so he can delete anything that sheds negative light on his crapstain of a coin.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=555767.0
Here is my final comments from the original thread plus my reply on the new thread which will obviously be removed shortly. (Edit: was already removed without comment)  Roll Eyes

I WELCOME THE ↑ UP COIN DEVELOPER TO REPLY TO MY THREAD HERE.
IF HE IS LEGITIMATE HE SHOULD BE ABLE TO BACK UP AND SUPPORT HIS OWN COIN CONCEPT.

Had to manually link topics, ignore dates.

IPO aside, this coin is poorly thought out and promises things it can't guarantee.

At the very least, instead of lowering the block reward over time they are INCREASING THE BLOCK TIME!

Does no one understand what this means?

It means this coin will eventually turn into a slow piece of shit like bitcoin.

What is the difference between reducing the block reward/increasing block time and just reducing the block reward twice as much?

THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE EXCEPT ONE SLOWS DOWN THE ENTIRE NETWORK!!

This is so poorly thought out its actually painful to see not one person has mentioned this in the entire thread.

It goes to show that many of you have no idea what the fuck is going on or how these systems work at all.
You people need to educate yourselves instead of just investing in the next shiny new coin that comes out.

Your blind support of copycoins and scamcoins is ruining the altcoin community and if it continues there won't be much profit left to make on ANY COIN.
In the long run you are just spreading us thinner and thinner over more coins that will never go anywhere.

Pick the winners, stick with them, stop supporting every piece of shit that comes out just because its new. This is how we ALL profit. Not just the losers who hop from one coin to the next.

And then you will ask BTC to erase your posts.. The coin hasn't even being launched and you say your lies talking that bad stuff. Nice try!  Smiley

What the fuck did you say to me?

Lies?

BLOCK TIME
Ever changing. From 20 seconds to 10 minutes time, the block time is constantly changing and going up! This is done via steps in code so it’s not a drastic move.
We want to ensure that your investment always goes up with the coin.

How is that a lie?
You intend to increase the block time.
You do know what happens when you increase the time between blocks don't you?
I don't know how else to put it any clearer: YOU WILL INTENTIONALLY SLOW DOWN THE NETWORK TO DECREASE THE AMOUNT OF COINS BEING MINED.

You could achieve the very same thing by reducing the block rewards.

For example:
100 coin reward with 5 minute block time (slow) = 28,800 coins per day
20 coin reward with 1 minute block time (fast) = 28,800 coins per day

Call me a fucking liar again chump. You already look stupid, next time you will just look like a lying scumbag.
Heres an idea: How bout next time you reply with something constructive instead of just making baseless accusations.

If you don't like it then don't mine the coin problem solved. We haven't forced you to mine the coin when it launches. You don't need to come here and spam and demand BTC like all the others to erase the posts later. Peace.

Soon we will announce launch plans. Stay tuned.

I'm sorry, are you actually accusing me of trying to extort BTC out of you?
Please tell me that is what you are doing because we can have the admins check your message log right now and have you banned for attempting to fraud the community.
I have not "spammed" anything but pointed out a serious flaw in your stupid coin. Maybe you should look up the definition of spamming.

Instead of communicating like an adult you have brushed off my comments and accused me of extortion? Please, post here proof of my attempts at extortion. Anyone that looks at my (over 570 post) posting history can see that I wouldn't do that.
Your only response is "if you don't like it then don't mine it".
Now you lock the old thread and create a self-moderated thread so you can remove any posts that are critical of your ingenious coin.

You are a slime-ball.

If you can't defend your concept against such basic scrutiny then it obviously isn't worth pursuing.
