1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Monitoring RTX 3000 series memory junction temperature in Linux on: March 10, 2021, 11:53:18 PM
Is there a way to do this?

People say to use hwinfo64, but that's only available for Windows.
2  Bitcoin / Hardware / Who else has 65nm BFL chips on hand? on: November 17, 2013, 04:51:47 AM
So I'm stuck with 87 chips that were delivered too late for me to get in on MrTeal's batch 1 or batch 2 Chili productions.

MrTeal says that a third batch could happen if there are enough orders for 100+ boards:

What would it take for there to be a batch 3?
I would guess at least 100 boards or so.

So...with 713+ more chips it could happen.

Is there anyone else out there stuck with these chips?  Post how many chips you've got, and let's see if we can make this happen.
3  Economy / Scam Accusations / [closed] Garr255 grievance over late delivery of 87 BFL chips on: November 11, 2013, 01:14:42 AM
Warning: Lengthy post ahead.  I'm quoting everything I can in case he deletes or alters his posts.

What happened:: Garr255 posted a thread in Group Buys offering 65nm BFL chips for sale.  I purchased 87 chips in 2 separate transactions.  He has failed to deliver them for 45 days now, and his communication has been terrible.

Thread rules: No advertising BFL chip/credit sales.

I used the bitpay button to buy 32 chips, at a cost of $2080.

Later I arranged via PM to purchase the 2 sample chips from him.  That went badly, and ended with the samples being stolen out of my mailbox.  Not his fault.  I'll not go into the details of that.

Later via PM I arranged to purchase the remaining 55 chips for 27 BTC:

Great.  If you get a chance to send me the tracking info (if any) I'd appreciate it.

I'd also like to buy the remaining 55 chips.  Would you consider 25 BTC for the remaining 55 chips?

Great.  If you get a chance to send me the tracking info (if any) I'd appreciate it.

I'd also like to buy the remaining 55 chips.  Would you consider 25 BTC for the remaining 55 chips?

They are scheduled to arrive Friday. No tracking info, sorry.

And I'll do the remaining 55 for 27 coiins. 1Garr2555P4oiAaLQqXkcdAKGg4SMt3RZS

--Garrett

I can do that.  Sent with TXID 95e663dbfb11f6674cd5ab9c5c7338710034d9ab9e1514c58e4a6fdefe8a4688.

The scheduled delivery day, September 24 comes and goes.

Has there been any word?  Supposedly some people have been asked for the second half of the payment, and some have received chips even, like dwdoc with an order from 11-June.

I have made the second half of the payment and the chips should be shipping soon!

Great.  Let me know when you have them in-hand.

When you do get them, I'd like them shipped with tracking and insurance (USPS Priority) to my xxxxxxxxxxxx address:

<shipping address was given here>

Have you heard anything since?

I also bought some chips from a guy with a 6/18 order, and he tells me he has now received the chips.

Any new information?  A tracking number (I hope)?

No response was received.

In the thread:

I got a tracking # from BFL a few weeks ago but have not received anything yet. I will call them tomorrow and post back here when I have info.

--Garrett

I purchased the remaining 87 chips from this offer.

What does the tracking information show when you check the number?

Also, why did you wait 3 weeks and still haven't called to check on them, and why have not responded to my emails and PMs asking about them?

Due to their diminished value because of the delay, I would like to request a refund rather than taking delivery.

Hi,

I have called BFL, and BFL assures me that the chips shipped on Friday. This is very shady of them because they told me the chips shipped about two weeks ago. I will call them tomorrow morning and request that they be refunded. I agree that this has taken them a ridiculous amount of time and I don't want to take delivery on the chips that I bought for myself either.

I will post back here tomorrow.

--Garrett

No offense meant, but I feel like you should just refund me now and settle-up with BFL on your own.  I entered into the purchase agreement with you, not with BFL.

I feel like you've dropped the ball in not managing the order or responding to my emails or PMs in a timely manner (usually not responding at all.)

I'm looking to receive the 27 BTC I paid for 55 chips directly to your 1garr255 address, plus the $2080 I paid for the first 32 chips via the bitpay button in the OP.

Thanks in advance.

Hey,

Today, after much persistence with BFL, they have still refused to give a refund and sent me the chips regardless. I have them in my posession as of this evening and will be sending them to their proper recipients on Monday. I apologize for this mishaps, but it is nothing I could have prevented. The chips will be out of my hands Monday and this will be over.

I am never going to order from BFL again, unless they can ship the same day I pay. That is a lesson most of us have learned the hard way with BFL.

Well that's just great.  :sarcmark:  BFL fucks us over again.

I still have to ask why you didn't follow up with BFL more aggressively when the delivery first became late.  I don't feel like I received the level of customer service I ought to have with this purchase.

For contrast, I purchased another lot of these chips from another forum user who had an 18-June order, and they were delivered to me on 11-Oct.  Only about 8 days late after accounting for reshipment from him to me.  He called BFL right away when they passed the 100 day mark.

PM me the tracking information please.

Thanks.

No response was received.

Via PM:

Can you PM me the tracking information for the chip shipment please?

Thanks.

No response was received.

Again in the thread:

PM me the tracking information please.

Thanks.

Pretty please?

No response was received.

It's Friday now and the mail has been delivered, and I still have no chips.

Garr255, please talk to me.  I think you at least owe me, your paying customer, a response.

Did you ship the chips?  If so, please send me the tracking number.

No response was received.
4  Bitcoin / Hardware / KnC die #0 disabled on: November 01, 2013, 10:59:14 PM
I thought this deserved its own thread.

I'm learning that a lot of the later shipments of KnC's miners have an issue where die #0 out of the 4 on each chip does not function.

This can be seen by installing BertMod and looking at the output current of the DC-DC converters.  Affected units will show a much lower current on #0 than on the other 3.

I'm afraid I can't contribute a lot since I have an early Saturn that is not among the affected units.

There is a much better summary of the issue over on the KnC forums:

http://forum.kncminer.com/forum/main-category/hardware/13049-read-me-first-known-issues-slow-performance-dc-dc-problem-bad-core-map-etc

I thought that a thread here would reach a wider audience, and may make for a more productive discussion.
5  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / CGMiner API call 'devs' response limited to about 149 devices? on: July 08, 2013, 12:14:41 AM
I'm running some cgminer instances with a large number of devices.

I find that when I use the 'devs' API call, information is only returned for the first 149 devices on one machine (first 147 on another), although the response is a proper JSON structure, and is not truncated.

This is with cgminer 3.1.0 and 3.2.0.  I have not yet tried the latest.

Is this known behavior?
6  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTB] Your BFL Chip Credits on: June 17, 2013, 05:01:04 AM

I can pay BTC, LTC, or dirty fiat.
7  Economy / Computer hardware / FS: [US] Miners: USB Block Eruptors, BlackArrow Lancelots, Ztex 1.15y clones on: June 06, 2013, 02:29:05 PM
I bought these miners intending to offer them for resale.  Somewhat later than I'd planned, here they are.

For sale are:

USB Block Eruptors: BTC2.5
BlackArrow Lancelots: BTC3.25
Ztex 1.15y clones: BTC6.5

The FPGA boards all include high quality gold-plated 28/24AWG USB cables, heatsink/fans, and screw terminal wiring blocks where needed.  Everything you need to plug it in and start mining (except a power supply).  Power supplies are not included.

All miners are all in-hand and ready to ship.

USPS First Class shipping within the continental US is free.  Expedited and international shipping will be at actual cost, calculated based on the current mtgox exchange rate.

Escrow is welcome if the buyer makes the arrangements and pays the fees.

I've been an eBay PowerSeller since 2010, with over 1,000 orders shipped.  You can trust that I know how to ship things.
8  Economy / Scam Accusations / BTC4Amazon owes me $700 on: June 04, 2013, 03:30:10 PM
I bought some wal-mart codes from BTC4Amazon.  I spent them and they worked OK, so I bought some more.

After a while I had a bunch stacked up ready to spend, and then 3 of the $200 codes were spent out from under me.  When I check their balance I see purchases on wal-mart.com for their full amount.

I asked BTC4Amazon what had happened, and he just said "Give me a minute to look into this", and then no further response for some days.  Then after another inquiry:

I have been extremely busy recently offline but I do have a report in with Walmart to see exactly what happened. They are supposed to get back to me within 48 hours with the details so closer to 49 hours now as I did it in the am

Then something happened to one of the $100 codes he sold me.  It just says "invalid number" now when I try to check the balance.

Finally on 14-May I requested a refund:

I'd like to just get a refund for these.  I need my assets liquid.

That'll be for the 3 $200 codes, and the one $100 code that went bad.

Please send to 12z2v2xL8URzmer37fYRyqscx7sbjCGvHz

Thanks.

No response.  Further PMs have gone unanswered.

He used to have an established OTC rep, but now he's somehow changed his OTC username?:

9  Bitcoin / Hardware / Xilinx XC2S100 any good for mining? on: May 15, 2013, 03:18:40 PM
I took apart some old telecom gear and found on the board a chip labeled: Xilinx Spartan XC2S100 TQ144AMS0505.

Would they be likely mine sha256 at any decent speed, with the right bitstream?
10  Economy / Computer hardware / [Sold] 5 Sapphire 100352-3L dual-fan 7950s on: May 12, 2013, 12:10:09 AM
I've decided to sell off some of my GPUs.

Up for sale are 5 Sapphire 7950s that I bought from Newegg in April:  4 left

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202026

They make around 568KH/s each mining scrypt.  I never overclocked or overvolted them.

They come with the original retail boxes (may be missing the barcode).

I'm asking BTC2.5 each, insured shipping included.

Continental US buyers only please.  Escrow is welcome.

PM me or post ITT to buy.

Edit: I will also include a 1x PCIe riser cable with each card, with the end of the female socket machined open.

Edit: Cards are all sold now.  Thanks.
11  Economy / Auctions / 9.5 shares of CoinHoarder's Avalon Batch 3 Group Buy - 3 day auction on: May 05, 2013, 12:06:08 AM
The following shamelessly stolen from oaxaca's thread.

Today we have an auction for a total of 1.314515% of CoinHoarder's Batch 3 Avalon group buy.  This represents 9.5 shares.

Group buy information:
Original Thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=157930.0
Group Forums: http://yourcoins.org/forums/index.php?forums/avalon-group-buy.2/
Each investor owns a percentage of each of the seven 4 Module ASICs that were ordered.
Monthly dividends will be pad out to each investor according to their ownership percentage.
Dividends will be paid after electricity costs, any pool fee (yet to be determined), and 3% hosting fee are taken out.
Total BTC invested in the group buy: 722.7025 BTC
595 Gh total from all Seven Avalons

The auction will last about 3 days from the time of this OP, and will end at 00:00 UTC, 07-May-2013.  The forum timestamp will be considered official.

The starting bid is 1.9 BTC per share.
The bidding increments are .01 BTC
The minimum bid quantity if for .5 shares, in increments of .5 shares.
A higher number of shares at a given price beats earlier, lower bids.
If escrow is desired, I have no objection.  Probably not needed as CoinHoarder lurks here.
No PM bids will be accepted.  All bids must be in this thread.
12  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTS] [US] Arctic Cooling Accelero Xtreme 5970 cooler on: May 03, 2013, 11:54:02 PM
I have here one of these Arctic Accelero Xtreme 5970 coolers for sale:

http://www.arctic.ac/en/p/cooling/discontinued-products/vga/19/accelero-xtreme-5970.html

It does a great job keeping a 5970 cool.  Mine ran about 10C cooler on average while mining than it did with the factory cooler, and was nice and quiet too.

These are no longer made by the manufacturer, and are hard to find.

The package says it carries a 6 year warranty.

Includes the heatsink/fan itself, VRM cooler block, instructions, and the retail package.  I'm also including a fresh set of thermal pads, so it's essentially ready to install.

Make an offer around BTC1, shipping included within the continental US.  International shipping is BTC0.4 extra.  Escrow is welcome.
13  Economy / Digital goods / [Gauging Interest] 50 BTC virgin block on: May 01, 2013, 08:45:40 PM
I thought I'd see if there's any kind of market for these.

I have in my wallet, a 50 BTC block reward, solo-mined directly into my wallet in 2011, and never spent since.  I thought I'd see if anyone has any interest in buying it for some amount above 50 BTC.

I would export the private key and securely transfer it to the buyer.  The buyer would have to trust me that I'm not keeping a copy of the private key.

Any interest?
14  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTS][US] 5970 with Arctic Accelero Extreme cooler, not fully working on: April 13, 2013, 03:32:39 AM
I have a 5970 that I installed one of the Arctic Cooling Accelero Extreme coolers on.

It mined like a champ for me for a couple years, but a while ago it started getting unstable.  I mined on core for a while, before I took it out of the machine.  Anymore it will sometimes mine for a while, sometimes on both cores, or on just one, but the miner will still eventually crash.

I never was able to get this one to mine scrypt for some reason.  cgminer just reports 0 hashes/second for both cores when I try.

I haven't checked video output.

The cooler is very nice, and keeps the card at least 10C cooler on average than my other 5970 that has the reference cooler, all without running the fans very hard or loud at all.  This cooler is quite rare, and is probably worth ~$100 by itself.  I will include a replacement set of thermal pads for the cooler so you will have fresh ones if you remove/install it.

I can also include the old factory cooler (with its dead fan) if you want it.

US buyers only please.  Payment in BTC or LTC.  Escrow is A-OK.

Make an offer IIT or by PM.

I have a ref design 5870 that I need to replace the fan on (and remove the shroud to do so), and the screw heads are all stripped.  I'll probably be drilling them out.

Once I do, I'll need replacement screws to put it back together.

Does anyone have a set they wanna sell me?  I'll offer 0.05 BTC for a set shipped to me in the US (US seller preferred).

I'm trying to collect one of each type of FPGA miner, and I want an Icarus next.

PM me if you have one for sale, and what you'd want for it.

Prefer a US seller, so as not to deal with international shipping.

Thanks in advance.
