1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / GPU mining and fire hazard on: March 25, 2018, 07:45:41 PM
Hi everyone,

Today I was lucky enough to be at home when heard loud noise from miner and strong smell. Luckily I was able to turn it off quickly, seems like one of Inno3d GTX 1070 went down, and it is one of newest card, ~1 month old.

I also have some remote miners, now I really wandering what could happen if I won't be near to turn miner off?? What security mechanism to avoid hard overheat is implemented in GPUs?

How are you guys monitor your remote rigs to avoid any big damage?

Thanks!
2  Economy / Exchanges / Please explain bitfinex stop order triggered on: November 23, 2017, 04:35:13 AM
Hello guys, can you explain me this situation? I have placed BTC/BCH stop order @ 0.1425 and was pretty sure it is safe price and it will not trigger, and on charts there is one moment in time when price was dragged down by 20% and i believe lots of stop orders was triggered...

As i understand some big buy order was placed.. Or some bot made his dirty job...

Shouldn't platform protect traders from such kind of activity? As for my small trade of 2 BCH i lost 0.07 BTC if looking at the actual prices... Also there is no signs of price recovery or something like that, if all stop orders has been taken by some big order price should have at least some time to recover, but it happens just in a single moment... And what is more it has been triggered @ 0.1425 and sold for 0.14, and all of this in a single minute...

1 minute chart:

Thanks.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Gigabyte GA-Z270P-D3 (rev. 1.0) M2>PCIE possible? on: September 24, 2017, 03:26:12 PM
Hi everyone,

Thought connecting card through M2>PCIE would be easy, but i can't make it work. What i checked:

1. Checked riser and USB cable, seems to be OK
2. Changed in BIOS max PCIE gen - Gen1 - does not help
3. GPU fine
4. Only thing i can not check is the M2>USB adapter.

Can not find anywhere in BIOS settings for the M2 port, only thing i can find is NVMe setting, but it just says that nothing is connected.

It seems to be possible on Z270 to run card on M2, so either i'am doing something wrong either it is hardware related.

Thanks in advance!
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Afterburner (latest version) freezes on 4 GPU Nvidia rig, Win 10x64 on: June 20, 2017, 04:29:34 AM
Hi everyone,

Anyone came into this? Maybe it is usual problem? After restart i can run Afterburner for some time, set clocks for testing and leave it, it works, but it becoming unusable after ~30 min. Freezes, then unfreezes for ~1 sec, and freezes again, only restart helps.

Afterburner (latest version), 4 Nvidia GPU, Win 10 x 64 latest, tried compatibility mode.

I use RDP, maybe it causes problems as in another areas, though i always see temps and fans correctly.

Thanks in advance!
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Motherboard for NVIDIA rig on: June 17, 2017, 02:20:17 PM
Hi everyone,

Have two not full GTX 1060 machines running on windows 10, and last one has Gigabyte GA-Z270P-D3 1.0 mobo, 4GB RAM, Celeron G3900. Seems to be running OK, but i have not tried it with 5-6 cards.

So i wonder if this mobo is OK for my future mining rig, it costs ~100EUR in my country. Maybe i could get out with something cheaper? But last time i looked for mobo it was hard to find something with 6 PCIE. I could get something from Amazon.co.uk...

I need mobo for 4x1070 rig at the beginning, maybe later some RXes will arrive or i'll add more 1070. Mining Ethash with Claymores currently.

If i switch to other algo in future will it be more CPU/RAM intensive, or i will still get out with G3900/4GB ram?

Any advice's is appreciated! Thank you!

6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Very low GTX 960 Claymore 9.4 ETH performance, 2,3 MH/s on: June 08, 2017, 06:06:09 AM
Hi everyone,

I have set up a test rig from what i have on hands, mobo is Gigabyte GA-Z270P-D3, CPU Intel Celeron G3900. 4 GB RAM.

GPU 0 - GTX 1060/6GB (it gives around 21 MH/s with +425 on memory and P2 state (strangely i can not query supported clocks with nvidia-smi -q -d SUPPORTED_CLOCKS))
GPU 1 - GTX 960/4GB it gives around 2,3 MH/s only... Even in P0 state (it strangely works fine with this GPU)

GPU0 is in 1 PCI-E x16 GPU1 is in x4 mode.

Maybe i missed something in Mobo or Claymore configuration?

Thanks everyone!
