1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / I'm Nejc Kodrič, co-founder and CEO of Bitstamp. Ask me anything! ( on: November 30, 2015, 08:25:15 AM
Quote from: Nejc Kodrič
Hello everyone!

My name is Nejc Kodrič, co-founder and CEO of Bitstamp.

I got got introduced to bitcoin by my colleague and now co-founder of Bitstamp, Damijan Merlak. We both soon started mining bitcoins. Later we figured there is a need for EU domiciled exchange. So we build it. Bitstamp was launched in August 2011.

Bitcoin industry was much different. Not many people have heard about it and banks & policy makers didn't care about it - it was simply too small.
Whenever it was mentioned in the news, it always had somewhat negative connotation. I'm very glad that I was around when bitcoin made it's first steps. As many of you probably also know. It's a great story!

I am excited to be participating in's mother of all AMA and will be answering all day today. Please give me some time to respond.

Best regards

I am an entrepreneur. I started my career 20 years ago building banking systems. 16 months ago I founded Fermat : A peer to peer Financial Application Framework. We have been in stealth mode until just now, so it is quite logical that you have never heard about us.

Fermat in a nutshell is a P2P Network for transporting meta-data and a Plug-ins Framework to build P2P Financial Applications that are both crypto currency and digital assets enabled. The goal is to decentralize the full stack up until the GUI in order to enable an ecosystem of financial applications that do not require trust and are censorship resistant.

11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / I'm Andrew Lee, CEO of, AMA! (at on: November 10, 2015, 04:35:51 PM
Quote from: Andrew Lee
I am a payments geek and a FinTech entrepreneur. When I first learned about Bitcoin in 2011, I thought it was interesting so I bought some and promptly forgot about it. My first company was a credit card processor that was acquired by Sage Payments. I joined Bank of America Merrill Lynch in 2012 to cover emerging payments, and our group evaluated many new payments technologies including Apple Pay.

In 2014, Kent and I started Purse out of a coffee shop in SF. We didn’t initially set out to create a company. We shared a common frustration that Bitcoin didn’t offer any incentive for normal people to use it, and we had a hunch that we could use blockchain escrows to liquidate Amazon gift cards and deliver great deals. Our hunch proved to be correct - we transacted over $4.5M and saved users almost a million dollars.

Today, I’m excited to announce the expansion our marketplace with Purse Merchants! Businesses will be able to sell directly on Purse, the world’s largest consumer marketplace for Bitcoin. Trezor, Ledger, KangerTech, among others, will go live on our site this week.

From an IT Project Management background, I fell in love with Bitcoin in 2012 (best thing since my two daughters) and started with Asher Tan (tomorrow's AMA) the Melbourne Bitcoin Meetup ( as well as played with arbitraging between exchanges throughout 2013 through Bitcoins Reserve ( with long time friends Allan Guo and Jin Chen.

In 2014, having teamed up with Ryan "Martian" Xu (Think of him as the chinese version of Roger Ver) and Jacob Cheng (SMSC Lead Engineer), we launched our plans to IPO a Bitcoin Mining company in September 2014 and raised through an earlier pre-IPO round of 3.6m from sophisticated investors to prove the business model.
