1  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Wu Announces BM 7NM pending Miner release. 42 J/TH on: September 21, 2018, 12:49:17 PM
So today in Georgia Jihan made his long awaited announcement. ( See Bitmain Web page ) The new 7NM ASIC from BM is coming. When? How Much? most importantly " How much better. Claiming 42 J/TH for the 7NM. Thoughts?

NEW MINING MACHINE WILL BE AVAILABLE SOON
New Chip Uses the 7nm Semiconductor Manufacturing Process and Will Greatly Improve Power Efficiency

BEIJING, P.R. China, September 21, 2018 – Jihan Wu, CEO and co-founder of Bitmain Technologies Ltd. announced Bitmain’s next-generation ASIC chip BM1391 for mining cryptocurrencies using the SHA256 algorithm at the World Digital Mining Summit in Georgia today. Mr. Wu also revealed that Bitmain will soon launch a new generation of mining machines equipped with the BM1391 chip.

The new ASIC SHA256 algorithm acceleration chip carefully built by Bitmain uses one of the world’s most advanced semiconductor manufacturing technologies, 7nm FinFET. The ASIC chip integrates more than a billion transistors and is optimized for maximum efficiency. Thanks to its unique circuit structure and low power technology, it is stable and more efficient. Mr. Wu said tests have shown that the chip can achieve a ratio of energy consumption to the mining capacity that is as low as 42J/TH.

At his keynote speech at the summit, Wu Jihan said mass production of the 7nm chip will begin and be applied to the next generation of Bitmain’s Antminer machines, improving the new miners in various performance indicators, in terms of power and power consumption, and enabling outstanding performance.

4  Economy / Computer hardware / WTS 1 A3 Purchased and paid first 5 minutes of batch one NEW(SOLD) on: January 20, 2018, 03:07:09 PM
     I purchased two A3's and am going to sell 1 to help pay for the other. I am not looking to make grand claims here on profitability. KNOW ONE knows those numbers. Do your research and decide for yourself. If you purchase this miner, I will ship it to you within 1 hour of my receiving it at the fastest shipping option you're willing to split with me.

-Trusted forum member escrow essential. I like Philipma and trust him implicitly. Others are an option. Buyer pays fee.
-Crypto payment only for purchase. Prefer LTC but others are an option
-Ship immediately upon arrival. (estimated around 1/27/2018)
-Buyers choice method of shipping. ( I will split that cost )
-Miner only no PSU

I have no idea what these units are worth. I have my own thoughts, but they are merely speculation. I will consider ALL fair and REALISTIC offers. I can tell you this. It will not reach "Ebay levels" Ebay is bullshit.

PM me your bids if interested. For new members with PM restrictions, email me at rlnmp1@gmail.com

Good luck. "Fortune favors the bold"

6  Economy / Computer hardware / WTS 2 X 14th S9 with Bitmain 220v PSU 3 months old on: January 15, 2018, 05:23:27 PM
     I am selling 2, S9's from my operation, to fund GPU builds. These 2, 14th S9's have run flawlessly for me for the last 3 months. I have never had a single issue with either of these units. I meticulously maintain them, cleaning dust from wafers every 4 weeks. They run in an air filtered, ventilated environment and chip temps have never exceeded 75c. For the last 2.5 months they have run below 65c. I am the original owner and bought them directly from Bitmain.

- The transaction will be handled through one of our trusted forum members for Escrow only, fee paid buy buyer.
- The agreed upon sale price will include the S9(s) and 220v AP3++ PSU(s) shipped in the original Bitmain Boxes. In addition I will pay from the sale proceeds, for 2 day UPS shipping with insured value anywhere in the Continental USA.
- I will send pictures and screenshots of the Units and their Status page to serious buyers.
- Buyer will have 24 hours upon delivery to power up units and verify they are working.
- The units will be sold "AS IS". Once they are up and running the transaction will complete and funds will be released.

PM me if you're serious about buying to discuss price. The individual package will not sell for less than $4,500.00 per 1 S9, 1 PSU and included shipping.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Who here understands " BOTS "?? (relative to Bitmain orders) on: January 10, 2018, 12:11:52 AM
I keep seeing people posting things inferring, that the large purchasers of the recent Bitmain Releases are using "bots" to advantage their penetration into the servers for ordering. Is this something that is real or just some internet lore?
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Bitmain is preparing to CRUSH GMO ( By "D3ing the L3+ and S9" ) on: January 09, 2018, 02:09:15 PM
     I am seeing the exact same tactic from Bitmain right now in the L3+ and S9 ASIC markets, that we saw them employ in the recent D3 Bloodbath. Announce the sale of L3+ and or S9 on twitter and watch the lowlife resellers, swoop in with their bots and clean out the offerings. Resellers know nothing about mining. They just think they can sell the units at a huge markup without knowing anything about difficulty, profitability or application. Enter the horde of new miners trying to make the "easy cash". They are willing to pay just about ANYTHING to get their hands on these liquid Gold machines. The end result is, by June, S9 daily profits at .10 Kwh will be $7.50 per day and the L3+ will be $5.50 per day.

       Why would Bitmain do this? You ask. Well, lets look at it;
     Bitmain knows that GMO is making a major play for their market share. GMO is launching the exact same business plan that has fed Bitmain so richly. Start a huge mining operation, run your own technology and also sell it to the public after you've skimmed the cream off the top of the pot. Bitmain is making a full on assault on GMO. They are flooding he market with the older fading technology to drive difficulty up and profits down. This will clean MANY customers out of the market before GMO can tap them. New miners are very clueless and they pay WAY too much for ASIC machines from resellers and for their electricity. Their S9's and L3's will never return their original cost. S9's and L3's by mid to late summer will be selling in the used market for less than half of their release prices. Think D3. Finally, Bitmain launches their own "new Tech" at rock bottom prices to further pressure GMO's fledgling business launch, knowing that slim margins on their new product will likely kill their venture.

This is war people. Don't take it personal. Don't get killed in the crossfire. I predict Bitmain will reign victorious. Most of all DON'T BUY ASIC SERVERS FROM RESELLERS!! Let those dirtbags CHOKE on these servers.

This has been a "public service announcement".

10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Live test; BTC Transaction versus USD Wire Transfer on: July 17, 2017, 04:10:55 PM
     Just for the fun of it, I decided to run a real life, real money test to compare the efficacies of a BTC Wallet based transaction versus my old world, USD Bank based wire transfer.

     Within a matter of days of each other, I purchased two pieces of mining hardware from a reputable manufacturer in China with a solid Customer Service record. On June 19th, I bought one unit and used a USD Wire Transfer to make payment to the overseas Co. Then on June 21st, I purchased another unit, same machine, but used a BTC transfer from my wallet. After 25 days the final results are in.

USD Wire Transfer;
     The cash was immediately deducted from my US bank based account on June 19th. It then went into "banking limbo" for 21 calendar days. On July the 10th, the Chinese intermediary bank acknowledged receipt of the funds I sent on June 19th. On July 15th the Chinese Co. acknowledged the receipt of the funds to their Co. account. On July 17th, my account and order were updated as " Paid pending shipment".  After much nervousness, emailing, stopping in the bank and updating "transfer info" with the recipient company, almost 1 MONTH later the transaction was completed.

BTC Wallet Transfer;
     Upon placing my order online, I received the BTC address to transfer my payment to. I entered it into my mobile phone, put in the exact amount of the purchase and hit "send" from my BTC wallet on my mobile app. ( of course I only keep enough on my mobile app to complete immediate transaction ). Literally within 10 minutes, my payment was received by the recipient Co., Confirmed as received and my pending order updated to " Paid pending shipment". 10 MINUTES!

     While there is still work to do, I think it is highly unlikely that such an archaic,clumsy and inefficient banking system can survive the ensuing block chain onslaught.

Death to traditional banking!

Long Live The Block Chain!!!
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Litecoin Difficulty jump on: July 13, 2017, 12:29:52 AM
 So it has begun.   July 8th, LC hashing difficulty = 250k, July 9th 275k. This is a new high by just 3k, but probably an indication that some of the new ASIC Scrypt miners are finding homes in Mining farms across the land. I suspect by October the LC profitability Calcs will look dramatically different.

     For you salty old mining vets, how do you think the evacuation of GPU miners in the face of the ASIC assault, will offset the hashing difficulty jumps? If any?
