1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Altcoin prices now the real price? on: September 14, 2018, 02:49:16 PM
Looking at the investments I made in altcoins this time last year they are now at less than half the price.

So the investor lost faith, doesn't think this technology in a coin is worth as much as he was made to believe (surprise surprise).

You may say that It's because it follows bitcoin, but say you need to stop dreaming and come back to reality because BTC is still nearly double the price it was this time last year.

But are we at the bottom? Is the price now the REAL price of an altcoin.
2  Economy / Trading Discussion / Stable coins on: May 20, 2018, 07:50:13 PM
Hi guys, what are stable coins exactly?

Are they a good way to look in profits from the volatility of the crypto market?

Please correct me if I'm wrong as I'm trying to understand what a stable coin is.

Example, if you buy 1 alt coin for $100 and next day it's value increases 10% and now your 1 alt coin's price is $110. If you wanted to lock that profit could you move that $10 to a stable coin such as tether rather than BTC where the price appears to be fluctuating too much for my liking.

How do you transfer your money out of the altcoin and into a stable coin?

Are they any stable coins which do not require intrusive KYC details?

Do you think stable coins are the future?

Many thanks.

3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Investment advice please on: October 25, 2017, 07:47:22 PM
I need some investment advice from the veterans here if possible.

Earlier this year I executed my plan and took the plunge by investing in 10 altcoins each with an equal amount of dollars, with some bitcoin left over. As this was my first time I made some mistakes in investing at the wrong time, other coins I did OK. I'm currently a little above what I originally invested in and feel quite comfortable for the time being.

Now that some months have past I feel that I would like to increase my position in all the coins I previously invested in which I believe are for the good long term.

However in the past months I have seen some ICO's with good potential and would of liked to have invested in them but couldn't because I wouldn't be sticking to my original plan with the coins I already invested in, and sure enough recently they had increased a lot in value and I could of made a good return. So my instincts were correct and I should of invested in some additional coins. I know it is said the FOMO is a strong feeling but what happens when it is right??

Are 10 alt coins enough to be investing in?

If I spot a good investment opportunity should I invest in more alts eg. from my original 10 up to 15, my worry is when does it end as the hype never ends.

All the coins I have currently invested in are good solid coins with a good long term future but may have already past their strongest growth phase. If I have a good feeling about an ICO which has good upside potential should I dump one from my current portfolio in favour of a newer coin which could explode?

Hard decisions....
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / What are the chances of an exchange being hacked? on: August 16, 2017, 10:17:49 PM
I finally bought some alt coins and am currently researching the best wallet options for the different coins. I never stop hearing about 'never leave your coins on an exchange' and I don't intend to however I would like to know how likely is it that the exchange gets hacked? In this case it's BITTREX and does this happen often? Or am I more likely to get hacked on my own PC? Where is the greatest risk? Thanks.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / When is a good time to invest in altcoins? on: August 12, 2017, 06:55:55 PM
I recently purchased bitcoin with the intention of spreading the investement in 10 altcoins which i have researched and then leave the scene because this investment is for the long term.

However im seeing that bitcoin is still increasing in price, should I wait until bitcoin price stabilizes until investing?

And one thing I didn't consider was that should I keep some bitcoin in the end instead of investing all in altcoins?

Thanks.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Which altcoin exchanges allow signup/trading with minimal verification? on: July 27, 2017, 08:01:54 PM
Hi, I'm new to cryptocurrencies and am in the process of researching exchanges to trade bitcoin for altcoins, however I feel really uneasy about uploading my passport, drivers license, utility bills, bank statements and a selfie with me holding my passport. Not only for obvious security reasons but also for governments to use my information and track my activity, i just find it really invasive.

But then I thought if one day I decide to cancel my account at an exchange that they would delete all of my personal information with it, however I've just discovered that Bitfinex retains all your details and sensitive documents for 6 years after account closure, and Poloniex I believe retains all your information indefinitely.

Are there any other options out there to trade altcoins with minimal verification? I don't mind uploading some form of ID, I guess that's fair providing I have their complete assurance that it would be deleted If I were to choose to close my account in the future.

Thanks.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / How to calculate profit? on: July 09, 2017, 07:39:22 PM
Hello, I'm very new to the alt crypto currency scene and I'm just beginning my research on basically everything so please excuse me if this sounds simple.

My idea is to invest a small sum of money over 5-10 alt coins (no idea which ones as of yet) for the long term say 2-3 years.

If I invest for example $10 in an altcoin with price currently at $0.10 per coin I would have 100 coins in my wallet. If I were to check the price again in one year to discover that the price has increased to $0.20 would I have made 100% percent profit? Is that basically how it works?

What are the risks involved with an altcoin that is really cheap say $0.01 but with potential to increase a lot in value compared with a more popular and well established coin in the top 10 which is worth for example $50.00 per coin?

Thanks.
