1  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Lightning Network: If your whole balance is very low, can you spend it? on: January 03, 2018, 01:35:39 AM
I understand the concept of opening a payment channel were you commit with a fixed amount of BTC, transfer freely between parties, then broadcast to the network. I also understand there will be a minimum amount to of BTC to open a payment channel.

What happens if you just have enough money in your whole balance to buy a coffee for, let's say, 0.00001 BTC?

If you have to use someones elses payment channel to get through, how is it decided how much fee are you paying the channel owner?

If you can't spend small amounts, then how will it solve micro-transactions, or having unusable wallets with amounts smaller than fees?

Thanks!

6  Bitcoin / Mining / How do you disconnect the monitor from the rig? on: December 02, 2013, 05:45:10 PM
I've built a mining rig with my own PC back in 2011, but I'm trying to build more (for litecoin or others) and I'm not sure how to leave the rig without any monitor at all. I know how to put dummy plugs to cheat the PC of the cards being connected, but how do I dummy plug all the cards and take out the monitor to leave the cards working without having to leave the monitor conected to the rig?

Is there any special thing I need to know for this?
7  Economy / Economics / Why is the btc stuck between 13 and 14 USD? on: July 28, 2011, 03:27:54 PM

8  Bitcoin / Mining / Auto-payout every X hours on: June 10, 2011, 02:20:31 AM
Is it possible to implement this on the pools? I think its strange that none of the pools has this yet. It would be great to have the option to automatically payout the btc every 24 hours, to have an exact and precise view of our daily winning every day.
9  Bitcoin / Mining / 2 VGA in one mother in WinXP without using dummys? on: May 26, 2011, 03:52:59 PM
If I put 2 VGAs in a motherboard that has two PCIe x16 slot (so I dont have to user risers or anything strange) and I put them in corssfire.

Can I disable the crossfire so I can mine with each VGA individually, so I get to mine with 2 VGA's without using any dummy?

Is this possible?

Hola!

11  Bitcoin / Mining / VGA Dummy for my new cards on: May 13, 2011, 11:21:40 PM
So Im actually mining with a 6850 cyclone in my own PC, with a P8P67 Deluxe wichI think it has like 4 PCI-e. Im getting a new 5830 in 2 weeks, and then a 5850.

I've just made the dummy plug, the resistors are 68 ohms, but I noticed that the wires are thinner than the pictures I saw of other dummys. Is this ok? The blue thing is also much smaller than the ones i saw around on some forums
I've also been told than I NEED to put some thermal insulation (aislante termico in spanish) in the wires cause if they touch themselves I can kill my card. Has anyone done this already?

Here some pics of the dummy i made:

I dont want to buy them and then kill them for not knowing such a stupid thing, sorry for asking this but I have to be sure about it hehe
12  Bitcoin / Mining / I have a 6850 what do i get next? on: May 07, 2011, 02:30:25 AM
Im actually just mining with and 6850 Cyclone at 231 Mhash with the core clock at 925, running stable at 63°

I was planning on getting a 5850 to put in the same PC with a VGA dummy to mine, but I was wondering if it would be better for me to just buy another 6850. What do you recommend?
13  Economy / Marketplace / Im from Argentina, I want to buy bitcoins, where do I go? on: April 30, 2011, 05:12:19 AM
I decided I want to invest in bitcoins so I want to buy some. My idea is to get at least 100 or 200 bitcoins. I can pay with paypal, or maybe credit card. I would with cash also, but Its hard to find someone to buy here in my place. Whats the best place to buy bitcoins for the best value possible? I know right now the value is like 2.80 USD. My idea is to buy maybe at 2 USD or 2.5 USD max value.

Any help would be greatly apprecciated Smiley
