141  Economy / Trading Discussion / closed on: September 21, 2011, 01:18:35 AM
I have seen multiple threads where this guy is trying to sell his domain and gift cards and such, he is a scammer straight up.

His name is Matthew Vacanti and here is his picture

He works at the Walmart Tire and Lube Express in East Syracuse NY tel: (315) 434-9873

heres what happened.

I PM'd him and said that I need a Godaddy gift card for $10, he gives me the amount and the a BTC address, he says that as soon as he receives the coins he will send me the card. I told him I needed this card right away. He said he would send it as soon as the coins confirm and then of course he disappeared.

Well unlucky for this scammer we live locally to eachother (like 30 mins away) I found his blog and found out who he is and where he works.

So I called his work and spoke to him, he told me some bullshit about how he didnt really have the gift card but he was buying it from some other site
and that site was taking too long. He said he would either send me the card or the coins when he gets back from work.

Then when he gets home he says he cannot get ahold of the person who he supposedly is buying this giftcard from and that he for some reason does not have my coins anymore.

This does not sound very good from a person who was operating a Bitcoin Site that Sold Gift Cards (thebitcardstore.com)

So now he says if I go to his work tomarrow to ask him for my money he is going to have me arrested.

I told him that is fine, if he cannot get the gift card or the coins tonight I will simply stop by his work tomarrow and he can give me cash and this ugly situation will be behind us.

He replies by saying that if I come to his work he will have me arrested.

It appears that he is refusing to send my coins back. I will keep this thread updated as to what happens after I stop by his work tomorrow.
*************
edit: after much pressure from myself and the bitcoin community he paid me back my coins. If your interested in a story of betrayal, walmart, furries, and possibly multiple personalities than please go ahead and read this thread. If such things do not interest you maybe you should move on.

146  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / [BOUNTY] need help getting recovered wallet.dat to work on: September 17, 2011, 02:01:10 AM
Hello

I have a problem for the Bitcoin geniuses. I had a Bitcoin wallet on an office computer with coins in it, well the network administrator decided he was going to format the hard drive and reinstall Windows 7 on it. So I used EASEUS recovery wizard and was able to recover wallet.dat. So I reinstalled Bitcoin and then copied wallet.dat into the Bitcoin directory and tried to run Bitcoin, bit Bitcoin wont run with all kinds of errors.

like this:
exception: 11dbexception DB:: open: invalid argument

I will gladly pay someone 2 BTC who can help me to recover this wallet and get the coins inside
thank you
147  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin is Closed. If you were cool enough you would already be here! on: September 12, 2011, 03:51:46 PM

This is a real problem in the Bitcoin community that I feel needs to be discussed.

I remember when I first found out about Bitcoin, it was just early spring time this year, right before Bitcoin hit the big time. Bitcoin was worth 0.85 USD, and the difficulty was so low that my first day mining with a GPU I mined 8 coins with a single 5870 that wasn't even overclocked (ahh the good old days) Smiley

The Bitcoin forums at that time were a completely different environment. There was a real sense of openness and adventure. People welcome each others ideas. Free thought was encouraged! It was an exciting time.

I know this sounds like I am reminiscing about the good old days but this was only like six months ago! I don't know what happened!?

There is no openess, there is no encouragement. Free thought!? You better keep it to yourself man.

You have got this superiority disease that seems to have infected nearly everyone - these Elitist Super geeks who think they are smarter than anyone, sitting up on their high horses and looking down at everyone. Trying to find new ways to exclude people and new ways to put them selves up on a pedestal

Then you have the trolls. Searching and Searching for an idea to squash, for some confidence to extinguish. is it Attack or be attacked? You really do not make yourself look better by putting down others. This bully mentality is disgusting.

On top of that you have the Pool Hop generation. The guys who have an entitlement complex.  The resentful Bitcoin youth that jumped on the band wagon when BTC was trading for $30 USD and now want to take every crumb that isnt nailed down. Listen fellas the Bitcoin world does not owe you anything.

I sympathize with the Bitcoin forum Mods and Admins I really do, you have a very hard job trying to keep this place under control, but as this forum is basically the epicenter of the Bitcoin world I do not agree with the newbie system. I think that we need to include as many people from outside as possible and not exclude them just because they got here late. I understand why we have this system and the purpose it is supposed to be serving is good but I personally believe it does more hard to Bitcoin than good.

Bitcoin is Closed! - For most people this is what they think and feel, the people who are first hearing about Bitcoin today, and they come to the forums and start looking around , that banner "Bitcoin is closed" this is how they feel and its hurting Bitcoin as a whole.

Thank you for your time in reading this, and if I offended you I am sorry. I love Bitcoin, I truly do and like many of you I have a lot of time, and money invested and I really want to see Bitcoin succeed. This thread was created to get people thinking about the good of Bitcoin and the good in themselves.

I happily invite all input, but please use good judgement and answer as the mature adult you are, I do now want this to turn into an argument.

150  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Binddingpond problem [closed] on: September 07, 2011, 08:48:49 PM
I am asking if the community knows anything about this site. I was selling some stuff on there, and one of my auctions finally had a buyer after over a month of not selling anything.

Well the guy sends the bitcoins to the address provided by Biddingpond - now they are supposed to forward the money to me
but this has not happened

both myself and the buyer have opened up support tickets and emailed them multiple times including PM'ng them on the forum

these guys are obviously ignoring me because Biddingpond was logged into the forum today so he is using his account.

Anyone have any idea what is going on?

I know my buyer is going to be super pissed if he is out the 15.73 BTC he sent them.

151  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Looking for Bitcoin Business who want free advertising. on: September 05, 2011, 10:25:38 PM
Hello Friends,

My latest Bitcoin related project's main purpose is to showcase the great businesses that use, accept and promote Bitcoin. I am looking for business owners who can save me some trouble by posting a reply in this thread with a short little Bio (as much or as little information as you wish to give) and a logo or picture. I plan to do my own research and locate this information on my own about as many businesses as I can, as well as utilize the wiki and other websites that already have this information but if you could help me out and reply to this thread I would very much appreciate this, and you will receive free advertisement on a site that I personally believe will get a large amount of traffic someday. Thank you so much for your time.
