2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Cryptsy coin sponsor program on: September 25, 2015, 04:39:53 AM
Recently Cryptsy released its coin sponsor program .It has brought new life to some older coins, and markets. It is essentially crowdfunded advertising for any coin we trade on the exchange.

Check it out and give it a try https://www.cryptsy.com/coinsponsors

Quote
Cryptsy's Coin Sponsor program gives the ability for a coin to be spotlighted on Cryptsy. To determine which coins are spotlighted at any given time a bidding process is used. Each coin is given a bitcoin address. Users can send bitcoin to a coins address to move it up the list. The top 4 coins on the bidding list are spotlighted as long as they remain in the top 4.

The balance of the spotlighted coins depreciates. Every 5 minutes 0.00034722 BTC is deducted from the address’s balance. If a coin drops out of the spolight position the deductions stop. For this reason the balance of an address on the blockchain can not be used to determine a coins position on the vote list. The current balance of a coins address will be displayed on the bid list.

4  Economy / Service Discussion / Cryptsy Prime Controller Destroy or Distribute on: April 27, 2015, 12:18:52 PM
I am taking a poll to decide the fate of the Cryptsy Prime Controller. Why a poll? Because though a few outspoken forum members wish us to destroy it we would like to be sure that the majority feel this should be the fate.

Some members felt that we should also de-list the coin due to Mr Garza's involvement. At this point it is my opinion that the only people affected by such a move would be the current stakeholders who would lose a large amount of value in their holdings. So at this time a de-listing is unlikely.

To reiterate the only dealings Cryptsy has had with Mr Garza was as a customer. There was no formal relationship. I can assure you all legal steps taken in regard to that situation have been taken. Most of you realize we cannot release more information than that for legal reasons.

We will leave the poll up for a week or two. Thanks for your participation.

9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / [Official] Cryptsy Response to lawsuit allegations on: October 24, 2014, 09:15:23 PM
http://blog.cryptsy.com/post/100831839452/response-regarding-lawsuit

Response regarding lawsuit

There was quite a bit of PR pushed out yesterday from a law firm that stated that they were filing a lawsuit against Cryptsy and myself. The complaint alleges that Crytpsy misled users and was negligent in security. They represent a single user.  We have close to 300,000 users at this point. We have reviewed the unofficial complaint and believe that it is without merit. We intend to defend the case vigorously.

We would like to note that we have not received any documentation or official notification concerning any lawsuit yet.  We also find it unprofessional that the law firm decided to push out such a large PR campaign prior to serving any notice.  It should also be noted that according to the user terms of our site, disputes are to be handled via arbitration.

We realize that there have been a few ”Bad Actors” in the crypto-currency space running exchanges and other services.  Cryptsy strives for transparency and doing what is right.  This lawsuit attempts to place us in the same group as many of these bad actors, but this is simply not how we operate.  We are not a fly by night operation, we are a company that plans to be around for a long time.   Our desire is to be the model of how to operate a crypto business.

As I’m sure many of you are aware, we take security very seriously.  We pride ourselves on being one of the most secure places to trade on the internet.  The crypto-currency space has been the target for a lot of hackers over the last year due to the increase in value of Bitcoin.  These hackers  not only target Cryptsy users, but users of many other Bitcoin services.

In this case the attack on the user making the claim came from within their own computer.  This is currently one of the most common attacks by hackers.   While we try to educate our users on how to secure their local environment, we ultimately have no control of a users computer system.

So as a reminder I’d like to reiterate a few security tips:
- Do not leave your computer logged into your Cryptsy account when you are away from your computer
- Do not install browser extensions from unknown developers
- Do not install mining software from unknown developers on the same computer you use to access Cryptsy
- Run a virus scan regularly.
- Make sure you use 2FA on your Cryptsy account

Cryptsy is an Internet startup operated by Project Investors, Inc. focusing on the exchange of Crypto-Currency commonly known as “BitCoin” and it's derivatives. We currently service more than 200 different types of crypto-currency.

13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / How can Cryptsy.com serve you better? Still the #1 Digital Currency Exchange! on: October 04, 2014, 05:09:58 AM
Here we go and obviously just opening myself up for some trolling but hey I am game!

Cryptsy.com is almost a year and a half old now the only alt-coin exchange that has been around longer would be BTC-e. We have seen many come and go, and we will see many more come and go. Some will return with new gimmicks and tricks.

So let me start with this Cryptsy has made vast improvements and continues to do so in Security, Stability, Infrastructure and features. So if its been a while since you tried us come back give us a shot. What I can assure you is we are here to stay. Why trust your coins with anyone but the most experienced exchange?

Why is Cryptsy better:
  • We are public you can come to the office and say hello. Located in Delray Beach Florida
  • We are established. A year and a half of trading digital currencies.
  • We are partnered across the space DigitalBTC, Vogogo, multipool, Mintsy to name a couple.
  • We have always innovated with new features Portfolio Buy, Trade Reports, Reward Program to name a few. Some great new ones on the horizon!
  • Our systems protect your investments. Security first nuff said.
  • We are licensed and compliant. Its only a matter of time before exchanges, especially operating in the US, without AML programs are shut down funds seized.
  • We have some huge announcements coming on the horizon. Some in the next week.
  • We are steadily growing and ready to serve you as our customer.

My question to you is what can Cryptsy do for you better?

*I will entertain trolls to a degree but keep the questions relevant to the topic of "what can we do for you better?". If it falls out of that I will delete the post.

New “Triggers” Feature
Triggers
A trigger is a signal you give to the system that you wish to place an order at a future date when certain parameters are met for a market. Triggers do not show up in the order books, since they are not active orders. Triggers can be used for such things as Stop-Loss.

When a triggers parameters are met, an order is created on your behalf according to your trigger settings. The type of order that gets created when a trigger is activated is called a “Fill Or Kill” order. Which means that the order will be placed for the maximum amount you select and any remaining quantity that is not filled immediately will be cancelled.

Settings:

Trigger Type: This is either Buy or Sell depending on the type of order you are wanting to create.

When Price Reaches: This is the price that will activate the trigger. When the prices in the order books is equal to or crosses this price, then the system will generate the order.

Make Order Price Of: This is the price at which your orders will execute. If you are placing a Buy trigger, then this amount should be equal to or more than the trigger price. If you are placing a Sell trigger, then this amount should be equal or less than the trigger price.

Up To Quantity: This is the maximum quantity you wish to buy or sell. The amount you will be able to place into an order will also be limited by the funds you have available. For example: if you have a trigger to sell 1000 units but only have 500 available, then the order placed will be for 500.

Expire Time: This is the date your trigger will be cancelled if it is not executed.

18  Economy / Service Discussion / Authy 2FA Chrome extension and any exchange.... on: July 17, 2014, 12:31:45 AM
If you are using Authy with a chrome extension, you need to remove the extension. The extension wont provide an additional layer of security if they have access to your computer defeating the purpose of 2FA.

Just do not do this it provides you little to no security essentially the same as email 2FA.
