2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / XFX R9 280X temperature problem on: February 17, 2014, 06:03:07 PM
hello everyone,

I bought new XFX R9 280X graphic card and i have been trying to get it to mine above 700kh/s for a few days. After some tempering with the cgminer settings I discovered that no matter what settings I use if cards temp goes over 65C it becomes unstable and hashrate start to fluctuate between 400-700...as the temps go higher hashrate drops significantly.
For example:
When I use gpu memclock 1500, gpu engine 1055 I get 734kh/s stable (no hashrate dropping) at temp 64C (gpu fans are at 100%)
When I set target temp to 67 I get average hashrate of 650kh/s (jumping from 550-700kh/s)
When I set target temp to 75 I get average hashrate of 580kh/s (jumping from 400-600kh/s) -temp never reaches 75C and cgminer crashes after some time

I have tried setting powertune to 20, installed beta drivers, disabled catalyst, added extra more RAM but with no effect.

What are my options? Will I be able to RMA my card?
Should I run some benchmarks to see if it will show some errors so I can have the valid reason to return it?

There is no way I could maintain such a low temperature of the card especially when I add some more cards to the rig.

4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / 6970 low hashes help on: December 12, 2013, 06:09:09 AM
hello everyone,

i just bought powercolor 6970 card and when I start mining with stock clocks (940/1425) i can get max 350 hases/sec.

This is how my .bat file looks like:

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
cgminer.exe --gpu-platform 0 --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://pool -u user -p pass -I 13 --thread-concurrency 14336

In catalyst 13.9 I can lower or raise core clock and only raise mem clock. I read that many people use concurrency 8000 but cgminer 3.1.0 wont even start on every value except 14336

i tried setting core 850 and mem 1465 and i get around 450hashes/s but I get only rejects.

What am I doing wrong? anyone with the same card from the same manufacturer please share your config.

Also to mention that computer has 4gb ram and q8400 processor on which i was able to mine with 7950 card at 665 hashes/sec.

PLEASE HELP!

thanks in advance

6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / 7950 concurrency problem on: June 09, 2013, 02:37:15 PM
Hi, everyone

I used to mine with cgminer  sapphire 7950 3GB with boost usng scrypt. With the settings below card could get about 650 kH/s

old computer: intel q6600, 4gb ddr2

Here are my settings:
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
cgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://stratum.give-me-ltc.com:3333 -u x -p x -o stratum+tcp://us.wemineltc.com:80 -u x -p x -I 19 --lookup-gap 2 --thread-concurrency 20480 --worksize 256 --shaders 1792 --gpu-engine 1110 --gpu-memclock 1500 --expiry 1 --queue 0

I moved the card into another computer but I'm having problems setting concurrency. These exact settings are not working. When I set concurrency above 12000 cgminer gets me this error:

Error -5:Enqueueind kernel onto command queue. (clEnqueueNDRangeKernel)
GPU0 failure, disabling!
Thread 0 being disabled

With concurrency so low I get bunch of HW. I also tried to lower memory and gpu engine clocks to stock value but result is the same.

new computer: intel G465, 2GB DDR3.

Is it possible that I don't have enough system memory? Btw right now this computer has 1.2 GB unused memory.

Any ideas?
