21  Economy / Economics / What can we expect the price to decline/raise to? on: July 05, 2011, 01:05:52 AM
Looking at the current pattern, things don't seem too good, especially at the current difficulty level :/

Looks like it will be around $10 or less by the end of this week.

I remember reading a thread where a professional stock investor theorized about what would happen to the BTC economy--so far, every single point he made was correct. He also predicted that the price would drop to $5, which scares me. I have a feeling he is right.
22  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / How can I get ahold of MagicalTux, or anyone with authority at MtGox. on: July 03, 2011, 03:02:32 AM
Please, someone tell me how. I've tried to contact them numerous times and they aren't responding.

If someone can tell me how I can contact him on IRC (or anywhere else) I would gladly appreciate it.
23  Economy / Trading Discussion / MtGox isn't responding to my ticket? on: July 02, 2011, 11:09:44 PM
BEFORE MtGox fixed the security issues, someone hacked my account and stole all my money. I have contacted MtGox multiple times about the issue and they haven't responded once. Even on the MtGox website they say they are reading and responding to every issue.

Anyone else had their money stolen? How did you resolve the problem? If you did
24  Economy / Goods / Asus 5850 $180 shipped (excellent condition) on: June 29, 2011, 04:04:59 AM
I have a non-reference Asus 5850, shipped to any US48 state for $180 shipped.
I will accept payment by PayPal or Dwolla.

It ships with all original accessories and the original box.

The card is in excellent condition. I have to sell it because I have upgraded my rig to water cooling and cannot acommadate this card in my case.

It can do 900 core at stock volts. Yes, it does have voltage tweaking.

Capable of pushing 350 MH/s at 900 core.

PM me with questions or post them in this thread
25  Economy / Trading Discussion / I was scammed by MtGox. on: June 17, 2011, 03:25:34 AM
Today, first time using MtGox. I added some BTC, started an order, and then checked back in a few hours to see that someone withdrew ALL of the BTC in my account to some address. I have no idea who this address belongs to. Here is proof.

Here is the Block Explorer for the address: http://blockexplorer.com/address/1KReFavSpHkxZqkR3aZvdz4pbhg6ZqCwhy

I have no idea how my account was accessed, but I do know that I will not be using MtGox again in the future.
26  Economy / Trading Discussion / MtGox Depth of Market and Selling Question on: June 17, 2011, 01:18:45 AM
Ok, first time selling on MtGox, and I'm confused.

Going to the Depth of Market there is a huge list of current Ask prices and the amount of BTC they want.

So for example, there is this listing:

If I start a sell order right now, for 18.31 BTC @ 21.95 USD/BTC, will it immediately get fulfilled by this buyer?
27  Economy / Marketplace / First time selling on MtGox--have a question on: June 15, 2011, 07:40:43 PM
I've always traded with BitcoinExchange in the past, but I wanted to try out MtGox. So let's say for example the price was $17. If I sell 10 BTC at $20, do I just have to wait for someone to fulfill the order and buy it? So I am guaranteed $200 so long as someone fulfills the order?
28  Bitcoin / Pools / Why don't pools pay out the full BTC amount? on: June 15, 2011, 03:26:14 AM
The only pool I've used that pays out the full amount of BTC is Swepool. Other pools like Deepbit will only pay out a portion.

For example, if you had 1.79658246 in your Slush balance, you would only receive 1.79 BTC. Only Swepool pays out the full amount so that your remaining balance is 0 BTC.
29  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Moar DDoS Pl0x on: June 15, 2011, 02:44:07 AM
No but seriously though, pretty much every bitcoin site is being DDoS'd right now, what's up with that?
30  Bitcoin / Pools / So ... What pools are NOT having problems right now? on: June 14, 2011, 12:04:52 AM
Slush's is down, and apparently they have an IP whitelist, but I have no idea how it works. I don't see any details on it.

Deepbit is giving everyone connection problems.

Swepool was at 0GH/s last time I checked because of some server problems.

SimpleCoin's servers are down.

BTC Guild's servers are having issues because of the large influx of miners coming from other pools with problems. Check their website.

BTCMine's luck has dropped 30% today, so not as wise to mine there.

What options do I have?
31  Economy / Economics / Why the rapid decline in price? on: June 12, 2011, 04:11:09 AM
Everyone is saying "oh, it's alright, it's just because the $30 was unsustainable and the market is just stabilizing itself"

...Alright.

Seriously, it's dropped from $32 to $10. Wtf.

What's going on? I'm seriously getting concerned now. I've lost over $100.
32  Economy / Marketplace / Tradehill vs MtGox on: June 12, 2011, 01:29:12 AM
If I'm cashing out via Dwolla, is there any advantage trading on Tradehill versus MtGox?

(Note that this will be my first time trading on either of these markets)
33  Economy / Economics / Is the market crashing? on: June 11, 2011, 02:40:14 PM
It went from a high of $32 USD to a low of $13 USD. That's more than 50%, over about 3 days.
34  Bitcoin / Mining / What just happened? on: June 10, 2011, 09:23:21 PM
 Huh

35  Economy / Economics / I want you to have a look at this graph on: June 08, 2011, 07:17:41 PM
And tell me with a serious face that the Bitcoin economy is not going to crash.

36  Bitcoin / Mining / If you own a single 6970 and you are using the GUI Miner please do me a favor on: June 08, 2011, 02:19:12 PM
Please show me a screenshot of this page:
37  Bitcoin / Mining / One of my GPUs has the lowest hash rate yet always accepts shares the fastest? on: June 08, 2011, 01:34:06 AM
GPU2 always has a lower hash rate than my other two GPUs (I know in this photo it's pretty close, but normally GPU2 hangs around 340 MH/s and my other two are normally 350 MH/s and above) yet my second GPU always has the most shares accepted. Anyone know what could be the cause?

38  Bitcoin / Mining / Why does Deepbit never report a correct MH/s rate? on: June 07, 2011, 04:24:39 PM
I have three GPUs going at 350 MH/s each, totaling 1050 MH/s. Deepbit always reports a MH/s lower than 1050 MH/s. In fact, it's always between 800 MH/s - 950 MH/s. If Deepbit isn't even recognizing my increased hashing power I might as well get rid of my third GPU.
39  Bitcoin / Mining / Just how bad was today's difficulty increase? on: June 06, 2011, 03:49:35 PM
My mining calculator shows a decrease from 2.3 BTC/day to 1.7 BTC/day.

Sad
40  Bitcoin / Mining / Premade Excel spreadsheet to keep track of your Bitcoin earnings on: June 05, 2011, 03:16:02 PM
So I've compiled this Excel spreadsheet for my personal use but thought I'd like to share with the rest of the Bitcoin community. This is a really handy way to keep track of your earnings and exchanges, with formulas embedded into the document to auto-calculate certain values. All you have to do is enter the pool you mined on, and the BTC you made that day.

How to use
1. First, enter the date in the leftmost column. You can then drag the cell down to automatically create following dates.

2. Enter the name of the pool you've been mining on.

3. Enter the MtGox rate that day. I always record my data at 6 PM every day so the results are consistent.

4. Enter the amount of BTC you've made that day. You can check whether or not you've mined for 24 hours by clicking the "Note" style on any 24 hr cell.

5. Enter the difficulty that day.

6. If you want, enter any notes that may be relevant to your mining statistics.

Auto-Computation Features
1. BTC is automatically highlighted green, yellow, or red based on if you had a lucky mining day, an average mining day, or a bad luck mining day, respectively. You might say, well as time goes by, difficulty goes up and I will make less BTC a day! So all the cells will become highlighted red..right?
I've made a formula to automatically compute the average of all the cells under the BTC column. If you look at cell O2, that is the BTC average for all the values in column D.

I have set up the following formula to determine how lucky your mining day is:
If your BTC/day is within a 0.2 BTC variance of the average, then your cell will be highlighted yellow.
If your BTC/day is higher than the average + 0.2 BTC, then your cell will be highlighted green.
If your BTC/day is lower than the average - 0.2 BTC, then your cell will be highlighted red.

This allows for the colors to be auto-updated based on a changing average.

2. The BTC sum is auto-calculated when you enter in values. The BTC sum is merely the total amount of BTC you've made thus far. However, the counter resets when you enter data in the "Exchange" column:

3. The Exchange column is used for entering data about a market exchange. For example, I recently exchanged 4.05 BTC at a rate of 15 USD/BTC on 5/31. Thus, I entered that data into that column. Whenever data is entered in that cell, the BTC sum will automatically reset (since you've sold all your BTC). You can, however, manually change the value of the BTC sum if you did not sell all of your bitcoins.

4. Graphs are automaticaly created and updated based on the values you enter. There are graphs for BTC/day, BTC sum, the rate, and the difficulty.
