3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Close bitcoind for incoming connections on: February 22, 2015, 06:04:25 PM
I have setup an Electrum server and i am now downloading the btc blockchain. The tutorial of Electrum tells me it is better to "close bitcoind for incoming connections".

I am not that good with iptables, so is there anyone who can offer me the string to put in iptables for closing bitcoind for incoming connections?

7  Bitcoin / Mining support / How to build up my mining rig? on: July 31, 2013, 10:43:07 AM
Parts:

Dell 7010 USFF i5
7 x 10 ports Anker USB hubs
63 x USB Erupters

The Dell produces 22W when it is in a sort of idle state. The perfect machine for this mining rig. I have bought 7 Anker 10 ports USB hubs and would like to know how to connect these. Shall i connect one on one of the 6 usb ports on the Dell and connect the others on an usb port of an Anker? Or shall i connect 6 of them on the usb ports of the Dell and the last one on one remaining usb port of an Anker? What will be better?

Any idea anyone?
8  Other / Beginners & Help / Detected new block on: July 24, 2013, 10:11:00 AM
I am a total newbie on BTC since a few months and i like it. Trying to build my first mining rigs and patiently waiting for my Jalapeno to come (if it ever comes).

In the mean while i am participating into Slush's pool. And sometimes there comes a message like "detected new block". Does this mean I detected the new block or one of the pool members?

And i never mined for myself, always been in a pool, but how the heck do you mine for yourself? I am building 2 mining rigs with 6990's and 7950's and hopefully my upgraded Jalapeno is coming soon. According to my calculation i have way more then 10Ghash to play with. Would that be enough for single mining and reaching a change of finding a block?

Thanks for the answers Smiley
