21  Other / Meta / [BUG] Insert quote button is missing on: April 10, 2018, 06:58:00 PM
I'm not sure if this is some kind of new limitation for some ranks or something else happened and a bug was introduced, but I cannot see the "Insert Quote" button/link when in edit mode anymore.

This is the possible bug description:

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a new post in a thread that has some replies already
2. Look over the previous posts while in edit mode and search for the "Insert Quote" button/link (on the right side)

Expected results:
The "Insert Quote" button/link is present on the right side of the previous replies.

Actual results:
The "Insert Quote" button/link is missing on the right side of the previous replies.

If anyone has any idea on what is going on, please shed some light on this Smiley
22  Other / Meta / [NEW FEATURE] Live Chat for users on: March 30, 2018, 01:05:05 PM
I would like to propose the addition of a new feature for users: Live Chat Smiley

With the PM system it's a bit hard to have a conversation since it's not keeping the same conversation in a thread (or some other way of organizing that makes sense).
It would be really nice to have a place where everyone can chat live and not be required to always switch to skype or other apps.

I had this simple machines forum (same as BCT) installed on my web server about 10 years ago and had added in the option for live chat that even included a bot Smiley
I don't think the same software would work for everybody today because it was flash based (at that time flash was really cool and new) but nowadays since the switch to html5, it's not supported anymore.

I found some possible candidates here:
https://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?action=search;basic_search=chat
https://www.arrowchat.com/smf-chat/
https://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=475150.0

What do you think would work best for this forum?

UPDATE:
As a lot of people did not read the posts after this OP, here are some things that were discussed:

1. This will be a personalized chat (similar to FB messenger - only 2 people will talk in a chat) not a main chat where everybody would join and talk nonsense.

2. There are a number of limitations that can be implemented into it (most likely they already exist) like:
  • Number of active chats at one time could be limited based on rank
  • Access to it could also be limited based on rank
  • Limit of instant messages (IMs) that can be sent out on an hourly basis to different users based on rank
  • A button to "mute/block" a user

3. Advantages:
  • Communication would be faster
  • Easy to use when you have to send multiple replies, unlike the current PM system, but not a replacement of it
  • Not using 3rd party apps like skype, icq or other live chat apps that can be vulnerable to social engineering that leads to hacking your account here, e-mail, wallets etc.

It would be nice to test it out in this forum and see what the users think of it, since it won't be too much work to integrate it. If it catches on, maybe it could be added to epochtalk as well.

No system/feature will ever be perfect. We can integrate it, see how it works for a few weeks and tweak it along the way.

I would appreciate constructive posts on this. "Naysayers" that do not care to bring valid arguments to this can post somewhere else.
23  Other / Off-topic / vlad230's post review service - Jr. Member and up [OPEN] on: March 28, 2018, 04:46:00 PM
I'm creating this second thread as my first one didn't get too much traffic (or there aren't many users that can rank up) and I still have sMerit to send out.
If you meet the requirements on the other one, then by all means, be sure to also post there Smiley

I am doing this to get more attention to the Altcoin boards (where I also normally post) until more merit sources are assigned to that section.

24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Altcoin investments software on: March 28, 2018, 09:11:43 AM
I have an idea on creating a software program that would crawl the full list of coins on https://coinmarketcap.com/coins/views/all/ (~1000) and extract various altcoins based on different markers like market cap, supply, price, volume, minability etc.

This way you would have a list of potential coins that could be worth investing in or at least narrow down the search when you're trying to look for new investment opportunities.

Would you be interested in a service like this? Would you pay a small fee for something like this?
25  Economy / Services / vlad230's One merit to rank up review service - Jr. Member and up (OPEN) on: March 25, 2018, 10:15:34 AM
When the merit system was implemented I was a Jr. Member with 0 merits and managed to rank up to Member but some of the challenges I have encountered is making my posts visible to everyone and getting more attention in the Altcoin boards where I normally posted.

We all know how difficult it is to earn your last merit to rank-up and be able to use more of the features available on this forum so, if you're in need of one merit point to rank up and you also post in the Altcoin boards (but not limited to this) then this is the service for you.

This is your chance to make your posts more visible to the forum community! Use it wisely.

Rules:
  • You need only 1 merit to rank-up
  • You are trying to help the forum community
  • You are also posting in the Altcoin boards (but not limited to this)
  • You are posting good quality content
  • You are not breaking the forum rules: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.0

How to apply:
  • Read the above rules and make sure you agree to them
  • Post links to your top 3 posts (1 per line) that you think deserve merit. I will also look into your post history and check random posts.

Things to avoid/ways to improve:
  • Do not PM me begging for merit!
  • Do not call me Sir, we're all informal on this forum so, no need for the politeness.
  • I hate plagiarism, do not copy/paste other people's posts.
  • Avoid meaningless replies in mega threads or old topics (spam)
  • Try to use proper English in your posts, so people can understand what you're saying.

Disclaimer:
  • This is a self-moderated thread, so if something is out of line, your post will be deleted.
  • I have a short amount of sMerits available so, I will be locking this thread when I run out. Will re-open when I get more.
  • I reserve the right to change the rules as I desire.
  • In creating this service I have been inspired by marlboroza, krishnaverma, iasenko, TMAN, Gleb Gamow, Juggy777, examplens and others that have invested their time into increasing the post quality and helping the community of this forum. As a thanks to the service they have provided (which I've also benefited from) I have decided to also invest my time into this to improve the community.

I: De ce doar algoritmul Cryptonight?

  • Qwerty Coin (QWC) - primesti ~315,000 tokeni/zi
  • TurtleCoin(TRTL) - primesti ~3500 tokeni/zi
  • PinkStarCoin (PNKS) - primesti ~600 tokeni/zi
  • Stellite Coin (XTL) - primesti ~270 tokeni/zi
  • DinastyCoin (DCY) - primesti  ~200 tokeni/zi
  • ByteCoin (BCN) - primesti  ~26 tokeni/zi
  • CrepCoin (CREP) - primesti  ~49 tokeni/zi
  • Intense Coin (ITNS) - primesti ~7 tokeni/zi
  • Fonero (FNO) - primesti ~9 tokeni/zi
  • Graft (GRFT) - primesti  ~1 tokeni/zi
  • Electroneum (ETN) - primesti ~4 tokeni/zi
  • LeviarCoin (XLC) - primesti ~2 tokeni/zi
  • Dero (DERO) - primesti ~0.3 tokeni/zi
  • Alloy (XAO) - primesti ~15 tokeni/zi
  • Haven (XHV) - primesti ~0.4 tokeni/zi
  • Karbo (KRB) - primesti ~0.2 tokeni/zi
  • Sumokoin (SUMO) - primesti ~0.1 tokeni/zi
  • NioBioCash (NBR) - primesti ~20 tokeni/zi
  • Solace Coin (SOLACE) - primesti ~2000 tokeni/zi
  • Loki Coin (LOKI) - primesti ~0.4 tokeni/zi
  • Triton Coin (TRIT) - primesti ~25 tokeni/zi
  • Iridium Coin (IRD) - primesti ~2 tokeni/zi
  • Italo Coin (ITA) - primesti ~2.4 tokeni/zi
  • ELYA Coin (ELYA) - primesti ~92 tokeni/zi
  • OMBRE Coin (OMBRE) - primesti ~60 tokeni/zi
  • BitTube Coin (TUBE) - primesti ~0.7 tokeni/zi
  • BBS Coin (BBS) - primesti ~12,000 tokeni/zi
  • BLOC Coin (BLOC) - primesti ~0.9 tokeni/zi

  • DCY - dcy.poolmining.us
  • BCN - bytecoin.uk
  • ETN, KRB, SUMO, ITNS, GRFT - easyhash.io
  • XLC - xlc.dark-mine.su
  • TRTL - turtlepool.space
  • DERO - pool.dero.live
  • XAO - cryptoknight.cc/alloy/

  • XHV - xhv.luckypool.io
  • PNKS - pnks.poolmining.us
  • XTL - communitypool.stellite.cash
  • QWC - qwertycoin.site

  • NBR - nbr.4miner.me
  • SOLACE - solace.luckypool.io
  • LOKI - loki.miner.rocks

  • BLOC - bloc-mining.us

  • config.json
  • start.bat
  • xmrig.exe

Partea importanta se afla in config.json.
Code:
{
    "algo": "cryptonight",  // algortimul cryptonight (default) sau cryptonight-lite
    "av": 0,                // variatia algoritmului, poate fi 0 din oficiu
    "background": false,    // setat la true daca vrem sa nu apara nimic pe ecran cand minam (ruleaza doar un proces in spate)
    "colors": true,         // setat la false daca nu vrem sa apara infromatiile pe consola colorat
    "cpu-affinity": null,   // seteaza afinitatea core-ului pe care rulam, "0x3" pt core-urile 0 si 1
    "cpu-priority": 2,   // seteaza prioritatea procesului de minare creat (0 nicio prioritate, 2 normal to 5 cea mai mare)
    "donate-level": 5,      // nivelul de donatii, minim 1%
    "log-file": null,       // logeaza tot ce scrie in consola intr-un fisier, ex: "c:/some/path/xmrig.log"
    "max-cpu-usage": 85,    // procentul maxim din CPU pe care sa il foloseasca, de regula limita e memoria cache a CPU-ului, cu cat mai multa cu atat mai bine
    "print-time": 60,       // printeaza pe consola viteaza de hashing dupa x secunde
    "retries": 5,           // numarul de incercari dupa care trece pe server-ul de rezerva
    "retry-pause": 5,       // timpul de asteptare intre incercari
    "safe": false,          // true ca sa ajusteze corespunzator numarul de thread-uri si algoritmul pt acest CPU
    "threads": 3,        // numarul de thread-uri care corespunde numarului de core-uri (nuclee) fizice pe care le are CPU-ul tau, recomandat 3 pt procesoare cu 4 nuclee fizice
    "pools": [
{
            "url": "<adresa_pool-ului>",   // URL-ul serverului de minat ex: etn.fairhash.org:3333
            "user": "<adresa_portofelului>",                        // numele user-ului serverului de minat (adresa portofelului electronic)
            "pass": "x",                       // parola serverului de minat, de regula "x" sau ""
            "keepalive": true,                 // trimite flag-ului keepalive pt a preveni un timeout
            "nicehash": true                  // folsoeste proxy-ul nicehash
        }
    ],
    "api": {
        "port": 0,                             // port-ul pt API-ul de mining https://github.com/xmrig/xmrig/wiki/API
        "access-token": null,                  // token-ul de access pt API
        "worker-id": null                      // numarul minerului pt API - customizabil
    }
}

27  Other / Meta / Good posts not rewarded with merits on: February 15, 2018, 09:25:52 AM
I'm a bit confused of the new merit system because I have not received any merits directly for the posts I created but only through posts that I made in this sub forum (anti-spam campaign for example).

I'm not saying the merit system is a bad idea because it was created to fight spammers and shit posters but I feel like something is not working when it's about people that do good posts and try to help out other users.

I have a list of posts (created by me) that I think are of good quality & were helpful to the users but have not received any merits for them.

28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / [CryptoNight] CPU mining guide & coins that will get you a return on: February 06, 2018, 03:25:39 PM
I have seen a lot of users that want to start mining or have already started but do not know what to mine. I though of creating this thread by including all of the new CryptoNight coins that are worth while mining using your CPU and will get you a decent amount of coins in return.
I will maintain this thread and add more coins on it, feel free to bookmark if you like.

I think the average mining power of your low to mid level CPU is about ~100-150 h/s so, I will create a guide on what to mine and how to do it based on this hashing speed.
Note: With this hashing speed you will definitely loose money if you sell what you mine because electricity is expensive. This approach is going to work only if you're OK with the idea that their value will probably appreciate in time.

What coins to mine?

The most lucrative coins from a "low difficulty & good returns" perspective are:

  • Qwerty Coin (QWC) - you will get ~315,000 tokens/day
  • TurtleCoin(TRTL) - you will get ~3500 tokens/day
  • PinkStarCoin (PNKS) - you will get ~600 tokens/day
  • Stellite Coin (XTL) - you will get ~270 tokens/day
  • DinastyCoin (DCY) - you will get ~200 tokens/day
  • ByteCoin (BCN) - you will get ~26 tokens/day
  • CrepCoin (CREP) - you will get ~49 tokens/day
  • Intense Coin (ITNS) - you will get ~7 tokens/day
  • Fonero (FNO) - you will get ~9 tokens/day
  • Graft (GRFT) - you will get ~1 tokens/day
  • Electroneum (ETN) - you will get ~4 tokens/day
  • LeviarCoin (XLC) - you will get ~2 tokens/day
  • Dero (DERO) - you will get ~0.3 tokens/day
  • Alloy (XAO) - you will get ~15 tokens/day
  • Haven (XHV) - you will get ~0.4 tokens/day
  • Karbo (KRB) - you will get ~0.2 tokens/day
  • Sumokoin (SUMO) - you will get ~0.1 tokens/day
  • NioBioCash (NBR) - you will get ~20 tokens/day
  • Solace Coin (SOLACE) - you will get ~2000 tokens/day
  • Loki Coin (LOKI) - you will get ~0.4 tokens/day
  • Triton Coin (TRIT) - you will get ~25 tokens/day
  • Iridium Coin (IRD) - you will get ~2 tokens/day
  • Italo Coin (ITA) - you will get ~2.4 tokens/day
  • Elya Coin (ELYA) - you will get ~92 tokens/day
  • OMBRE Coin (OMBRE) - you will get ~60 tokens/day
  • BitTube Coin (TUBE) - you will get ~0.7 tokens/day
  • BBS Coin (BBS) - you will get ~12,000 tokens/day
  • BLOC Coin (BLOC) - you will get ~0.9 tokens/day
  • Quantum Coin (QRL) - you will get ~0.35 tokens/day

What pool should I use?

Usually all of the legitimate pools will charge a fee, from my experience, the good ones charge up to 1%. None of the good ones are free.

The pools I use or heard they are good:

  • DCY - dcy.poolmining.us
  • BCN - bytecoin.uk
  • ETN, KRB, SUMO, ITNS, GRFT - easyhash.io
  • XLC - xlc.dark-mine.su
  • TRTL - turtlepool.space
  • DERO - pool.dero.live
  • XAO - cryptoknight.cc/alloy/
  • FNO - fno.cryptopool.space

What coins have forked, are ASIC resistant and what algorithm are they currently on?

An answer to all of this questions can be found on my other thread: [CryptoNight] Forked coins, ASIC resistance and current algorithms

Where can I get a wallet address?

The best place to get a wallet address is on the website of the coin. I have also used FreeWallet or Jaxx but usually none of the new coins are supported in these.

The most secure wallets to use are the paper wallets, you can mine directly to them.
Note: Please do not use a wallet address from an exchange, you will most likely loose your mined coins.

What software to use for mining?

I am using Xmrig for mining. In my opinion this is the best & easy to use command line CPU miner.
Note: They charge a fee for mining which is between 1% - 5%. You can configure this to the amount you like to donate.

First you need to download the correct file from here: https://github.com/xmrig/xmrig/releases

You should have 3 files:

  • config.json
  • start.bat
  • xmrig.exe

The important part is the config.json file, this is the only file (read the comments in it too):
[/list]
Code:
{
    "algo": "cryptonight",  // cryptonight (default) or cryptonight-lite
    "av": 0,                // algorithm variation, 0 auto select
    "background": false,    // true to run the miner in the background
    "colors": true,         // false to disable colored output
    "cpu-affinity": null,   // set process affinity to CPU core(s), mask "0x3" for cores 0 and 1
    "cpu-priority": 2,   // set process priority (0 idle, 2 normal to 5 highest)
    "donate-level": 5,      // donate level, mininum 1%
    "log-file": null,       // log all output to a file, example: "c:/some/path/xmrig.log"
    "max-cpu-usage": 85,    // maximum CPU usage for automatic mode, usually limiting factor is CPU cache not this option.
    "print-time": 60,       // print hashrate report every N seconds
    "retries": 5,           // number of times to retry before switch to backup server
    "retry-pause": 5,       // time to pause between retries
    "safe": false,          // true to safe adjust threads and av settings for current CPU
    "threads": 3,        // number of miner threads corresponds to the number of cores you CPU has, recommended 3 for quad core processors
    "pools": [
{
            "url": "<your_pool_address>",   // URL of mining server or: etn.fairhash.org:3333
            "user": "<your_wallet_address>",                        // username for mining server
            "pass": "x",                       // password for mining server, usually "x" or ""
            "keepalive": true,                 // send keepalived for prevent timeout (need pool support)
            "nicehash": true                  // enable nicehash/xmrig-proxy support
        }
    ],
    "api": {
        "port": 0,                             // port for the miner API https://github.com/xmrig/xmrig/wiki/API
        "access-token": null,                  // access token for API
        "worker-id": null                      // custom worker-id for API
    }
}

After you properly change config.json, you can start the miner by opening start.bat (on Windows). That's it!

Another mining app for CPU mining is XMR-STAK, you can use this as well, a guide on how to install it was provided by neosi1 here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2891680.msg33070715#msg33070715

A more detailed mining thread which showcases multiple mining apps (CPU & GPU) can be found here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2345911.0

Please let me know if you have questions/suggestions or feel free to share the coins you are mining with your CPU and could be added on this list.
29  Other / New forum software / [NEW FEATURE] Seeing a post that quoted your post on: February 04, 2018, 09:58:06 AM
I have a new feature proposal for the forum software. I don't think I saw this in the features.

Maybe we can have a new section in the forum header along side "Show new replies to your posts", "Watchlist" called "Show new quotes to your posts".

This feature will display all the posts that quoted your posts and you will be able to reply faster especially in multiple page threads.

What do you think? Would this be helpful for you?

Are any of you guys using their graphic cards? Have you had any issues with them?
31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Receiving BTC clones (altcoins) when a Bitcoin fork occurs on HitBTC exchange on: January 30, 2018, 12:00:39 PM
Have any of you received any BCA, BTV, SMART at the end of this month when these coins forked off Bitcoin while having BTC in your ballance?

I have received such tokens on YoBit but I haven't seen anything on HitBTC.

Do I need to do something to received them or HitBTC is not offering them to users?
32  Other / New forum software / How about switching to vBulletin? on: January 28, 2018, 11:29:30 AM
I remember using vBulletin a few years ago in software/domain development related fields.
The system is robust, customizable and you can add loads of features to it. I assume they maintained the upper hand after these years.

I know SM forums were very limited at the time (even for the forums I managed) because it was free and anyone who was serios in creating a community always used vBulletin. It was a no brainer.

Have any of the admins/mods looked into this already? Or should I research it and creat a post with pros & cons?
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Vote for more exchanges to be added on TabTrader app on: January 26, 2018, 10:35:12 PM
I've been using the TabTrader mobile app (Android) for a few weeks now and I consider it to be very useful for me as I can access my accounts easily and do trades fast.

I definitely appreciate the developer's input (the app looks great and is easy to use) but I would like to see more exchanges listed like Cryptopia, YoBit, CoinExchange etc. because these have the most variety of altcoins and high volumes for them as well.

They're currently hosting a poll on trello (requires registration, but it take 3 secs to do it) where you can vote the favorite exchanges to be added in here: https://trello.com/b/Tf2gZHVG/tabtrader-features-requests

If you like the app and would also like to see more exchanges listed, please vote (you can vote for multiple exchanges too!).

It seems I cannot hyterlink my signature to a forum post anymore.
It used to work fine until now but it stopped working at the end of last week.

This is the BBCode I'm using:

Has there been a change to restrict links for Jr. Members?
35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Strategy in selecting the correct altcoin to invest in on: January 18, 2018, 09:32:56 PM
What is your strategy when selecting altcoins to invest in to get huge ROI?

I prefer making sure that it's an active coin on the dev side, good social footprint and minable (preferably with a lower total supply).

Salut baietii!

37  Economy / Services / Senior Software QA Automation Engineer\Project Manager for hire! on: January 18, 2018, 11:34:05 AM
Hi guys!

I have been working as a Senior Software QA Automation Engineer for 7+ years now and I am currently employed full time.
I would like to do some work in my free time, after work or on weekends and I accept payments in all the major coins. Also, I accept the transfer to be done through escrow.

I am based in Romania, EET (UTC +2) timezone but since the work I am going to do will be after my day job, I can overlap with US time zones easily (up to 2PM PST/5PM EST or midnight my time).

My expertise is in Manual & Automated API, UI, Performance testing of web/desktop apps using TestNG, Selenium, SilkTest, Test Complete, JMeter and working with Java, GIT, SVN. I also have used Atlassian Jira/Crucible /Confluence/Bugzilla/Test Rail/Rally/Target Process and work with continuous integration tools like Hudson, Jenkins.

I have also been managing a small QA team for a few years now and would be able to also do Software Project Management work as I have a very good understanding of the software development cycle and have very good knowledge about Agile Scrum/Waterfall methodologies & practices.

I can provide my linkedin profile address if needed via PM & attend an interview.

Definitely would love to work for a new coin that is being launched!
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks!
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Mining difficulty on bytecoin.uk & easyhash.io with low hashrate on: January 14, 2018, 06:23:35 PM
I'm mining with with Xmrig CPU and I've noticed that the expected payout for the hash rate I have is always variable (e.g. between 5 - 10 coins/day).

Currently mining on bytecoin.uk (BCN) & easyhash.io (ETN) and I've read that you can also specify the difficulty somehow.
My hash rate is relatively low ~100 - 150 h/s/PC and I'm using 3 PCs.

Do you guys know how exactly I can specify it and what is my best option to get more coins ? I assume low difficulty but how much exactly would be best? (5000, 10000, 100000?)
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Mining with 2 GPUs on: January 08, 2018, 01:23:56 PM
I'm thinking of building a mining/gaming PC with 2 GPUs and was thinking which setup would be best to cover the majority of algorithms (non-SHA-256 related)/altcoins with decent speeds.

1. Have you guys tried to mix nvidia (e.g. GTX 1060 6gb) & amd (e.g. RX 470 4gb ) on the same motherboard? Does this help in covering more algorithms with better speeds?
2. Any idea on the power consumption of the whole system? I've seen posts about these cards under volted @ 110 - 150w, so would 4-500w/h be a good approximation of the wall consumption for the whole system?
3. Would investing in a good CPU also be a good idea? If so what do you recommend?

P.S. I'm more interested in treating this as an investment (mining coins and keeping them/exchanging for others not selling them asap).

40  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Mining altcoins & withdrawing the same mined coin to your wallet on: January 03, 2018, 11:46:45 AM
I'm new to mining and I would like to mine for various altcoins (mainly low difficulty & value ones).

I'm currently looking for a PC mining app (CPU or CPU + GPU for windows) that has low fees and gives you the option of withdrawing the coin you mined to your wallet. (rather than having it transformed to bitcoin, ethereum, litecoin etc).
It would be nice if you can also specify the mining pool for it so you could mine any new altcoin (not sure it this is possible though).

Are you using any mining software that allows you to do this?

Also, can you recommend a wallet that has low fees for various altcoins?
