1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / 8-GPU rig in 4U rack case on: December 13, 2018, 08:57:01 AM
Pretty cool system from the guys over at bitnand.com. A riserless 8-GPU system placed inside a 4U rack server case. This systems comes with a server-grade 2500W power supply.

The whole miner is fully enclosed with front-to-back facing fans for clean airflow.

2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Mining performance of Nvidia RTX 2080 Series on: August 24, 2018, 05:00:57 AM
I am seeing estimated mining performance figures of RTX 2080Ti at 69MH/s. Please see source here: https://www.bitnand.com/product-page/nvidia-geforce-rtx-2080ti-fe

Does that make sense to you? Let's compare GTX 1080Ti vs RTX 2080Ti memory performance here.

GTX 1080Ti vs RTX 2080Ti
Memory type: GDDR5X vs GDDR6
Memory speed: 11Gbps vs 14Gbps (+27%)
Size: 11GB vs 11GB (same)
Interface width: 352-bit vs 352-bit (same)
Memory bandwidth: 484GB/s vs 616GB/s (+27%)

Given ETHash is a memory intensive algorithm that does not depend much on the GPU itself, the difference in memory performance should be a good predictor of RTX 2080 series performance.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Nvidia P106-090 6GB give-away contest on: April 25, 2018, 08:38:56 AM
You guys might want to take a look at this competition. Someone is giving away a brand new nvidia P106-090 mining GPU.

The rule is that you guess the mined time of the Ethereum block #5,520,500

It would be pretty crazy if new GTX 2070 (?) can achieve 55MH/s  Roll Eyes
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / What happens when Bitcoin technology fail? on: January 30, 2018, 05:29:27 AM
With all the features that are introduced into the Bitcoin core code, we shouldn't be surprised if a bug gets introduced at some point. However, no one seems to be asking the question "What happens when it does fail?". What if a bug causes a total outage in the Bitcoin protocol? Who can the average Joe ask? What can merchants do to get their payments? What if BTC just get locked up permanently in your wallet?  Huh
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / BITNAND nvidia P104-100 card available on: January 25, 2018, 06:46:47 PM
Came across this site that's selling P104-100. Not sure if these are publicly available yet? My distributor gave me one to test and he made it sound like he did a big favor for me..

https://www.bitnand.com/nvidia-p104-100-gpu-mining-review

There's also a video of a 9 x P104-100 system running (https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=38&v=st0e-_3LAfQ).

Seems pretty interesting...
7  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Buying Bitmain or Bitfury ASIC chips directly on: November 17, 2017, 09:37:54 AM
Does anyone know how to buy bitmain or bitfury chips directly? I am thinking about doing a group-buy of custom rigs. The Bitmain wait is absolutely insane.

What do people think about this idea?
