Hey guys,

I have a S9 on the way and im considering selling my 741 because i really want to build a rig to mine shitcoins. It has only been running since Jan 10th, and i did pay a little more than the ones selling on blokforge and actually got it from cryptouniverse.at and due to that it was a $200 more than blokforges price in December. So i dont expect to get what I paid for it but it is practically brand new and it great condition. Btw i have been mining a shit coin with it as a test and im surprised at how well it is doing (5-7 coins a day), but who knows it could just drop to zero and i understand that but it was just a gamble to see.

I have posted in on ebay but if i sell it on here i can avoid ebays fees and in addition i want to see it at a fair price since its on the fourm. i dont expect ebay pricing but not sure what ask price to put so if you want to throw out your best offers i will consider.

will accept escrow only, buyer pays fees. I want to make this as legit as possible, so that i can continue to grow my trust here. I have a pic i took when i first got it but since im at my parents today i wont be able to put a pic up with my username and date until tomorrow. I can provide a screenshot of the avalon interface but not sure if that will do to prove its mine, so if you dont mind ill take the pic with concrete proof tomorrow.

3  Other / Off-topic / Running Bitcoin Core on Ubuntu 16.04 or 17.10.1 HELP NEEDED on: January 25, 2018, 09:39:46 PM
I have a Toshiba C655d-S5200 which I believe has AMD chipset. I am trying to run Bitcoin Core on either Ubuntu 16.04 or 17.10.1. I think my hardware is too slow for 17.10 but if I'm using WiFi it doesn't freeze.

As soon as I turn off WiFi and connect the Ethernet wire and open anything at all it freezes. No mouse or keyboard input. Have to power cycle to reset.

I have tried this: http://ubuntuguide.net/fix-cannot-connect-to-wired-internet-problem-in-ubuntu-or-ubuntu-vmware-guest

When I did ifconfig it said it wasn't installed. I installed it and then it said eth0 doesn't exist.

I have also tried to reserve an IP and when I go into settings it shows under dchp that it is using the reserved ip but it freezes either way.

Can someone please help me figure this out? I really need to run Bitcoin Core on Ethernet and not wifi.
4  Bitcoin / Mining support / Avalon 741 Socket Connect Fail => Connection refused on: January 23, 2018, 03:49:11 PM
I am getting the Socket Connect Fail => Connection refused, I understand this has to do with internet connection or pool settings. Nothing have changed in the pool settings its on slush and I don't believe that is the issue.

I did receive a new router and asus rt-86u, everything was working fine for 12 hours. I set up the VPN server on the router and when I logged into the LAN IP address associated with the controller I noticed it wasn't recognizing  the Avalon 741.

This error happened once before with my old router and the issue was the firewall. I had to keep the firewall at a low setting. The Asus has the firewall set to one automatically and it was working fine. I turned off the firewall on the asus and it still isn't working. Anyone have any other suggestions?

also, if anyone has information about how to set the firewall up so that I can still mine but block malicious things please point me in the direction.

ps. I love this router, I have figured out how to set up the vpn, use time machine from the HDD plugged into the router, ssh into the router.. overall it has been fun but I need to get this miner back up.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Accidentally Coin Transfer on: January 19, 2018, 01:49:08 AM
Hey all

So today was an interesting day. I decided I wanted to invest in a projects crowdsale. I sent two small transactions to them and in return I was supposed to get 9.6 tokens worth 70 usd but they accidentally sent 9.6 ethereum which you may now is worth around 9800 us dollars.

I was going back and forth on what to do because this was the most money I have ever seen. After trying to negotiate with them as they sent me an email right away I ended up doing the right thing and sending all of the ethereum back.

Ultimately I know there was not much they could do in terms of the crypto world but I wouldn't have been able to sleep well keeping money that didn't belong to me.

Has this every happened to anyone else before. What would you all have done I'd like to hear....
6  Bitcoin / Mining support / Port forwarding to access Avalon Controller on: January 11, 2018, 05:48:11 PM
Hello

I was able to open up remote access on my router and I am able to access the router buy i am trying to figure out what port I need to open to be able to access my Avalon Controller. Also once I set the port to access the controller what do I type into the browser away from home? For example I can type my IP:port yo get to the router but when I opened up a second port for the controller it isn't working. I hope what I'm trying to say makes sense
7  Bitcoin / Mining support / Avalon 741 Voltage Offset on: January 11, 2018, 01:32:47 AM
Hey guys

Please let me know what you think. if there is any interested I will consider selling them for $1.50 each in bitcoin. Or if this is just a complete dud let me know Smiley

9  Bitcoin / Group buys / Avalon 8 Group Buy on: December 19, 2017, 05:12:43 AM
Hello

Does anyone have any connections with Canaan to do an Avalon A8 group buy? I really want to get my hands on one as soon as possible but I know they are going to be hard to get so thought if we were able to order 60+ we can get them directly from Canaan rather than a distributor. Thoughts?

-CH

Edit: post locked. Group buy from Canaan is not realistic due to bank wire for payment being required.
10  Bitcoin / Mining support / Shed Setup for Miners (240v) on: December 14, 2017, 05:58:52 PM
Hello Everyone

I am sorry to make a new thread as i did search but what im finding is answers on how to run a miner on 120v service.

I really am looking for someone that can help answer my questions.I have been planning on putting in 240v service for sometime so that i can run my generator into the house properly (for hurricane season in FL) and know that I am looking into getting a S9 or more likely the new Avalon 8 (depending on availability), i am expediting hiring an electrician.

I am not comfortable with electricity at all and I want to make sure I tell the electrician exactly what type of receptacle to put in. It seems like there are so many different type of plus and amperage and its just a little over my head. ( I feel comfortable with the tech part and even setting up the Pi on my own but electricity, Huh Huh).

So, What setup is the most efficient?
I believe it should be on its own circuit and not on a gfci breaker.
Is it best to use a PDU, and then what type of plugs do I use? It looks like the PDUs take the normal 3 prong plug for 120v..

Im just in over my head when it comes to electricity (as you can tell) and would like some guidance.

I appreciate your help in advance and sorry for my noob type questions.

Hello,

I had someone message me today that had the same username as Crypto-Universe, official distributor for Canaan but didn't have the same activity level (which tipped me off). proof: https://imgur.com/a/B4sF4
12  Economy / Goods / New HW - Coinkite Cold Card on: December 10, 2017, 06:58:46 PM
Hello

I was wondering if anyone has seen the coinkite cold card. i think the features are pretty awesome. looks like it is going to ship Q2 2018. i saw some posts when searching to see if anyone already posted about the cold card, about coinkite going out of business, was that just a rumor at some point?

Here is the link: http://blog.opendime.com/coldcard-annoucement/

Features:

NO specialized software required. It looks like a hard drive, so you can drag and drop files into it. NO companion ?app? on your computer, works with the major wallets already.

It?s cheap! Simple packaging, plain design, no fancy boxes, no redundant cables.

It?s ultrasecure! Real crypto security chip. Your private key is stored in a dedicated security chip, not the main micro?s flash.

Easy back-up! MicroSD card slot for backup and data storage. This allows truly offline signing, by transferring the unsigned/signed transactions on sneakernet.

Open source software design runs Micropython and you can change it.

Other features:
Full-sized numeric keypad makes entering PIN easy and quick.

Larger 128x64 OLED screen.

It?s an open platform, and we expect other ?apps? in time, like:

2FA authenticator

Sign text messages to prove control over private key.

Participate in multisig wallets, with other signers.

Encrypt/decrypt secret messages (stored on MicroSD or otherwise).

We are still deciding on the PCB color, stay tuned.
