22  Other / Off-topic / [Announcement] Bitscalper under new management. on: March 15, 2012, 12:53:57 PM
Please see: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=68862.msg891035#msg891035

Hello fellow bitcoiners, I have an announcement to make that will surely make at least some of you happy.

I have been in talks with the current bitscalper owner and we have came to an arrangement.
I will keep this brief and simple for the time being as things are moving very quickly and my attention is needed elsewhere.

I will be taking over bitscalper.com hosting/domain/website/source code, I.E Everything!

I cannot be held responsible for bitscalper's original owners actions or descisions but after in depth talks with him it is quite clear to me that he never intended to scam anyone or mistreat anyone in the ways portrayed recently, the project is/was too big for him and things have really got him down to the point where there are no options left apart from run. I understand things could/should have been handled different but he has tried his best to my knowledge, given the circumstances. Things could have gone a lot worse but hopefully I can intervene now and get things back on track. Lay off the original owner and give him some credit for trying to make amends, he could have simple just ran away silent.

With this I am also taking on the responsibility of returning customers missing funds.
This will be done as soon as is practically possible, I cannot give an accurate time frame and frankly I don't want any broken promises but rest assured I will be doing a full audit of the databases/bitcoind transactions and announcing a more solid approach to returning your funds when possible.

Plans are to return the site to its former working state after a full security audit has been made and necessary changes made to make the site secure, again I don't have an exact date but this is second on the list after sorting out refunds.

Please direct any questions about bitscalper's future to me in this thread, please keep it civil and on topic.
23  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / 5970 core randomly decides it doesn't like 150mhz memory clock? on: February 13, 2012, 12:41:32 AM
I've got a 5970 that has happily been mining away at 800/150 for about 3 weeks now and for some reason the past few days 1 or the other core has been hard locking up.
I've tried lowering the core clocks back to 725 and even down to 500 while leaving the memory at 150, the bloody thing was still hard locking up on me no matter what. I checked power supply as I am running 3 cards on 1kw psu everything seemed ok, even ran a memtest for 24 hours just to be 100% sure.

Out of curiosity I tried bumping the memory clock up to 600mhz and it has been mining happily now for 48 hours at 800/600 albeit loosing 20mhs, but its stable...

Anyone have any ideas why it would do that and if I should be worried that it has caused some kind of damage to my card or the others by leaving them at 150?  Huh
24  Other / Off-topic / Cablesaurus shipping to UK, be careful. on: January 27, 2012, 04:32:05 PM
So I bought 4 PCIe x16 Flexible Extender Cables w/ Molex from their site for a total of $125.
I paid for the fastest shipping option which was another $30 as I needed them asap.
Totalled back to GBP was around £98, expensive for 4 riser cables when you think about it but hey, support the bitcoin economy I thought.

They have been stuck in UK customs office all freaking week and they are demanding I pay an extra £35 for import duty and VAT... What a piss take.

It's not Cablesaurus's fault per say, though it would have been nice of them to mark the package as a gift, its our god dam robbing government, they have to have their share of every fucking penny in this country.
So here I am, 10 days later and still no riser cables, waiting for customs to re deliver my package which isn't going to be sent out until at least Monday/Tuesday if I'm lucky.

So yeah, if you are thinking of importing from USA -> UK, always be careful on duty and import and if I were you, I would suggest choosing the cheapest shipping method as UK customs charge you 20% VAT on the shipping costs! (20% VAT on shipping costs!? How the fuck this is legal I don't know)

25  Bitcoin / Mining support / Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Help with Grub boot menu on resume from power loss on: January 11, 2012, 08:58:40 PM
Hi chaps, wondering if someone could help me out a little here.
Basically if/when my headless rigs looses AC power and is resumed at a later time sometimes the rig will get stuck on the Grub boot loader menu with the first item selected, I have to attach a keyboard and press Enter to resume boot.
To my understanding my grub config file below is correct and it should boot the first item in the list after 10 seconds?

Any ideas on how I can disable this menu appearing after an AC power loss and just always boot the default?

33  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Risk of damage from extreme memory underclock on 6990? on: July 29, 2011, 01:25:53 PM
I flashed the bios on my 6990 with RBE after getting totally pissed with aticonfig and 11.6 drivers not actually adhering to the clocks I set.
I set the memory clock limit to 150mhz though aticonfig will still only allow me to clock 125mhz lower then my core clock, if I go past 125mhz difference the clock lowers down to my 150mhz limit, which is pretty good for me because it saves me almost 150w of power and around 10C temperature.
I am wondering though whether this can/will cause any damage to my card? I've had it run stable for around 3 hours and then decided to increase the clock until I get confirmation from someone more knowledgeable then myself.
34  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / [SOLVED] Bitcoin client 0.3.24 confused about transaction fees, potential worm? on: July 28, 2011, 03:13:14 PM

35  Other / Meta / I miss the old days. on: July 20, 2011, 06:14:35 PM
I miss how the forum used to be around March-April time, the quality of posting was amazing and the forum really did shine with brilliant technical information.
I can't help but feel as if a truck load of teenagers have jumped on the bandwagon to derail threads and bump their post count with useless crap.

I also feel guilty for the quality of my own posting and have thought many times about killing my account here as to not add to the continual problem.

I want bitcoin to succeed, I really do, its taken over my life the past few months and I cant help but feel angry reading the majority of forum threads now a days.

What can I do myself to make bitcoin succeed and drive the riff raff away?  Undecided

38  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Dual GPUS, 100% CPU Usage. Windows Only Problem? on: July 09, 2011, 09:49:38 AM
So I've got a couple dual gpu 5970/6990 on the way and I'm wondering if the 100% cpu mining bug is a Windows only problem?
I'm planning to use Ubuntu again for this box and hopefully not fry this poor Sempron.
39  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Datasheet for xfx 5870 fan CFM on: July 07, 2011, 01:59:19 PM
I'm looking for some information on the CFM of the fans on XFX 5870's.
I cant find a single piece of information that gives an accurate CFM rate for these fans at relative speed positions, does anyone know where I can find this information?

I'm in the last stages of building my enclosed cabinet and obviously I don't want to push 750CFM through the cards if they only expel ~100. XFX fans are shit at the best of times  Grin

This film explores the evolution of propaganda and public relations in the United States, with an emphasis on the "elitist theory of democracy" and the relationship between war, propaganda and class.

I'm not from the US, but I'm wondering how you guys feel about this.
