61  Other / Meta / Woke up and hired bunches of shitposters on: August 11, 2018, 06:57:44 PM
Topic: KRIOS - INITIAL TOKEN OFFERING IS LIVE! www.krios.io

The topic was created on October 30, 2017. Since then the last legit activity posted on June 17, 2018. After that there were not many significant posts.

But... from Auguest 10 (yesterday), things started to pick up! On a sudden bunches of newbies started to post these cheesy stuffs.

Consider the infinite comment.

All started from the seventh page: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2334680.120

I'm hoping for updates on Mainnet progress soon; is anyone else still watching this project?
a lot of positive updates lately, looking forward to the exchange listing

So, far we have 21 pages now which means in the last 24 to 30 hours they have generated more 14 new pages!

Looks like the project has already scammed the investors and now who knows what plan do they have. They must hired bunches of newbies to keep posting on the topic. I already have reported 5 to 6 pages of posts. I am tired now and thought a mod will remove the entire topic or to lock the topic to reduce the spamming.

Same message repeating on all the topics. archive

The users post history is 8 pages long so far and most of the posts (except 1 or 2) are the same copy paste. My observation is, whenever he see any new topic on the Announcements (Altcoins), he goes and pitch this custom annoying text. The user has so far 158 posts and a Jr already. My question is can he be ban? To me it seems like spamming and he is doing it a lot.

I already reported some of his posts with the following comment:
Quote
spamming the forum with same shit on the topics. Please see the post history

I don't think it worth reporting all of his posts, it's better to ban him so that he can not spam the forum anymore like the way he is doing now.
63  Other / Meta / Whitelist & possible (confirmed) altcoin giveaway? on: August 10, 2018, 01:57:19 PM

I report quite often. The most comfortable method I discovered is... right click on the Report to moderator link and open it on a new tab, keep opening new tabs and then report one after another. But problem is, my activities cooling down period (I guess) is 9 seconds. I heard that a user can reduce the cool down period by whitelisting their account. I assume a mod can do that or may be a highly trusted one? Anyway, can anyone do that for me please. I really don't know how this process work.

Ok, f**k it!

This topic is going to be a topic to achieve two goals. Originally I created the topic for the above one but now I am adding below section. I just did not want to create another topic.

I was reporting this airdrop topic: 💰 [€194.900 AIRDROP] 💰 Local Token Exchange - Decentralized P2P Exchange - archive

Visit and you will see everyone is posting bullshit. To find the reason I visited their airdrop page and discovered this...

So clearly an incentive to post on that topic. Which in my opinion is a giveaway thread.

I hope mod will delete the topic and also nuke the user.

Thanks

I am sorry to create another topic in an hour interval... This is actually making me scared....

Guys this is scary now!!! I got logged out just a minute ago!!! Anybody is experiencing this?

Sorry for the big bold typo

I keep the always logged in function on always... Never experienced logging out. But this just happened. Anybody has experienced this.

PS: My pc is relatively very secure.
65  Other / Meta / [Security tips]Someone Just tried to reset my password on: July 30, 2018, 01:49:35 PM
Whoever you are, trying to get my account please go away... Now my password is stronger then ever FYI. This is what happened few minutes ago.

I received an email...

Meaning someone was trying to reset my password.

IP location locates me in Saudi Arabia

Here is the procedure, if I click the link on my email then it will ask me to set a new password. I do not see how this will benefit the one who requested the password change. Is there any possible way for him/her?

Anyway, this is what I am having in mind... always check the IP location for this kind of sensitive security change even if you are doing by yourself. If you don't see the IP is yours then do not click the link.
66  Economy / Scam Accusations / SCAM ALERT!!! Lost 0.08 BTC [Please stay safe] on: July 29, 2018, 08:28:13 PM
My head is still boiling... I am not sure what I am gonna end up writing here. I am cool now. Please always be careful when you are in lending business or taking tokens from anyone. Always double check the token contract. From now on, any collateral as token on my lending topic must need to be sent to an exchange of my choice.

What happened:: User yishak asked for a collateral loan of 0.08BTC
Loan- 0.08BTC
Period- 40days
Collateral- 108k HYDRO tokens (worth 0.0972BTC)
Repay- 0.096BTC

BTC add:1Gi6KZHjyMEMWH6fjxJKQYooa6AmowAd7r

We agreed to use DarkStar_'s escrow service. yishak sent the tokens to DarkStar_

I sent the BTC

Great! Processing the loan.

For 108k HYDRO token the approximate rate HYDRO is 0.00000082BTC (coinex price). If the price alarms 0.00000082BTC or below this rate then in 24 hours you will top-up more coins/token to keep the collateral value of it's minimum 120% range. Depending on the added collateral the rate will be readjusted.

Loan sent: https://www.blockchain.com/btc/tx/e5b3969791e5ae935a4c59360a8325112e758bf55b5c4c35f66975010019a782
Repayment date: 3rd September time before @23:59 GMT

The price was dropping, and once DarkStar_ agreed to release the tokens to me to liquidate then we discovered I got scammed by user yishak.
This was a big misunderstanding on my part. I didn't carefully read the date of your post and assumed you had not given 24 hours yet. Tokens sent to you, and you can liquidate.
tx: 0x84987754330815e8dc745e860687f34965f4ec556d2a2a3771fc58f40cd0766a

I'll cover your losses based off of the 0.08BTC loan value and whatever you sell it for. (max 0.012BTC limit to this offer unless something crazy happens with the price)
That's so kind of you. By the way just checked the tx and it says failed. You might want to check the transaction again.

Here is the address again.

May be you need to set higher GAS price.

So, here... I got scammed. BIG time lose of 0.08BTC.
The Collateral was fake HYDRO
Someone slap me on my face!!!!

The user sent outdated token which he did not burn.

So, I lost 0.08BTC

67  Other / Meta / Giveaway mega-thread with a little doubt. on: July 28, 2018, 08:55:21 PM
Most giveaway threads are no longer allowed in the Alternate cryptocurrencies sections.
I am a bit confuse about giveaway threads. What I understand from this is, encouraging members to comment on a topic in return of an incentive should consider as giveaway. And in this case the following topic is a giveaway topic.

Airdrop rules:
> You MUST register by fully completing the registration form here: https://codemail.tech/bounty/airdrop
> After registration, you MUST post your registration ID to this thread for confirmation
> In order to receive STPZ, you MUST join or follow the following CodeMail groups or accounts:
>> Follow @CodeMailTech on Twitter
>> Join the CodeMail Subreddit
>> Join the CodeMailTech Telegram Group
Asking to post registration ID for airdrop which led the topic to have 123 pages of replies If you scroll to the comments then you will realize the definition of spamming.

Airdrop Registration Completed.

Airdrop Registration Completed.
Registration ID: 99364e72-bc68-40ab-9d68-6a2245bcd349

These are some samples from around 2440 replies. I hope mod take steps against this spammy topic (if my guess as giveaway topic is not wrong).

Archive for reference.

Now let's comeback to my confusion. If this is not allowed (giveaway thread) then how about bounties that are asking for proof of authentications or asking to post weekly reports? The posters are actually getting incentives (tokens) for posting those reports/proof of authentications. I guess signature campaigns are  somehow different though.

70  Other / Meta / Account as collateral - How it reflects the forum rule? on: July 16, 2018, 01:41:52 PM
On the lending section I have seen lenders are offering accounts as collateral, I did the same on my lending service topic following their examples. However, I need a bit of clear understanding.

When a lender ask an account as a collateral for the loan then how does the deal work?
  • a) Do the lender takes control of the account of borrower before lending the loan? or
  • b) It's just a written contract that the account is the collateral and if the borrower default the loan then the lender will ask for the account credentials. (this will be a stupid move IMO, the borrower can deny to give the credentials later)

Let's say the answer is "a". In that case - since account selling/buying is prohibited or technically speaking the DTs don't like it - so, if a borrower default a loan and the lender have his/her account in control then how would the lender use the account?

Although I doubt that chrome did the right translation. Anyway, if you are up-to justifying someone then your standpoint should be neutral. You can not pick a side.

I am having a feeling that you are trying to please the mods. What do you get when you give them pleasure?

One of my post got deleted on the Russian local board. On the topic the OP had me in his/her conversation so, I needed to response.  Since I do not speak Russian, my reply was in English. My response was not off-topic which leads me to ask one question:

The response was deleted because it was in English?

If the answer is "Yes" then this leads another question:

How would someone response when they do not know the local language?

74  Other / Meta / (Latest): List of posts worth receiving merits on: July 09, 2018, 06:48:10 PM
Disclaimer
My focus is on helping newbies to Hero members who need merits to rank up. Legendary - by default your posts are well constructed (not joke but truth in most cases. Not bringing your link here does not mean that I ignored your posts. Most of the time I find the most values from your posts tbh. I hope it's understandable). Screw it (!) the rank does not matter. I tried try to stay unbiased, no priority for the post which I agree/like. Also, please don't give me merit on this thread. I don't want to be the part of any controversy. I am happy about my other posts which are enough to receive merits.

I spend almost whole day on the forum. I read, write, learn, help others, start unnecessary fights when I get annoyed, fighting against abusers/spammers, offering small services for the community etc. Bottom line - I am a very active member, trying to improve the forum experience for the community. Here is a reference to support my claim:

I started on December 14th 2017, started with 0 merits and became a full member (so far) only few weeks ago. My forum logged time is over 40 days and 20 hours while I am composing this topic. That's quite high ratio for anyone I believe.

Anyway, let's get to the point. Member like me stumble upon a lot of posts which are merit worthy. But since I do not have enough sMerits (in most cases 0), I can not do anything. And those merit worthy posts get unnoticed for good. I was observing the recent invention of Jet Cash. Wonderful idea however I was missing something and I was not sure about it (missing) too. As a result, I did not make any suggestion yet. Besides, I am not a merit source or a member with lots of sMerits, so - I do not actually know which shoes they have on their foot. After reading LoyceV - I realized what I was missing. I am having same feeling (mix reaction) for theymos's latest topic as well. So, I have not yet made any input there.

Let's get back to the merit worthy posts. Since, I stumble upon to a lot of good posts everyday and fail to merit them all the time - I feel a bit injustice for them. I am not talking about those repetitive posts like how to add image/how to do this/how to do that etc type posts. I am also not talking about only the very high quality/top-notch type posts too. I am talking about posts which are just good enough and above. Or a post which is very average but to the point. Of course the variables for justifying a post for me and yours will have deference. I may think a post is very high quality but you may find it very average. The variables are relative but I think in most cases - it is not too hard to be on the same page.

On this topic, I will make a list (will update constantly - replacing the old sets with the new sets) of post those worth receiving merit. If you have available sMerits and/or if you are a merit source looking for good posts to spend your sMerits then feel free to merit the posts from the list. If anyone wants to help me finding good posts then you are welcome to post in the comment section. Remember one thing - do not post your own posts and ask for review. This is not a merit review topic. This topic is more like helping the merit sources to spend their source merits and members who have enough sMerits to spend but can not find posts to merit.

PS: I know we had a topic with the same idea and I had negative stand for it but later I realized the idea IS actually good. This can help members who are constantly looking for merit worthy posts and finding it hard to spend their sMerits. Well-done DireWolfM14

75  Other / Meta / New spam bot? [how do they do it?] on: July 08, 2018, 02:09:42 PM
So the easier way for me to report the posts which I will do after posting this however I wanted to bring it in your attention.

I have my email notification ON for several boards which I watch of-course. This is something I noticed when I checked my email...

In 20 minutes same topic were posted (Looking a the topic title). I thought this is usual spambot and same user was posting it. When I was checking the topics to report then I realized that contents are same but the accounts are not!!! Have a look (I archived all for reference)

nencipitua1982 ==> http://archive.is/2EveB

pogenpuvir1983 ==> http://archive.is/e1Xzi

arpsicsubscons1977 ==> http://archive.is/TR0g4

tiasicafou1974 ==> http://archive.is/qveGV

spamretlialter1976 ==> http://archive.is/kfgCL

seytendxihu1989 ==> http://archive.is/Yr5IJ

6 different users but the contents are the same!

After looking at their registration time I noticed 3 of them were created yesterday (arpsicsubscons1977, pogenpuvir1983 and seytendxihu1989 on July 06, 2018, 11:53:10 AM - July 06, 2018, 11:55:02 AM and July 06, 2018, 12:06:01 PM respectively) and other 3 were created today (tiasicafou1974, spamretlialter1976, nencipitua1982 on Today at 01:20:43 PM - Today at 01:24:19 PM - Today at 01:38:59 PM respectively).

So, looks like each day this person or company is creating 3 accounts to spam the same contents in different boards. May be they are using a new type of spambot to spam the forum with new strategy.  My question is/are...

How do they do it - Don't they get caught with evil IP score?
Aren't they breaking any rule to get banned? If we don't have any rule against them then Isn't it right thing to ban them?

This is really a big issue for the forum and we need to stop it.

79  Other / Meta / Scam Accusations or Reputation? on: July 03, 2018, 11:20:19 PM
I created this topic (cryptonbets: Unique approach - Just saved $50) on Scam accusations board however the site was not able to scam me. It was an approach only. My topic was more like to warn the community which I believe they will face it sooner or later since the site has not even launched (after looking at the evidence on whois lookup). The reason I am composing this topic is, I guess the topic for cryptonbets fits more in the Reputation board since most of the points I talked about were somehow gives a bad name for the site.

I would need suggestions to pick a right board please. If any mod ends up seeing this then, please feel free to move the cryptonbets topic to the right board. I will then make any change if it needs.

PS: Since I posted the topic on the scam accusations board - I had to follow the rules for the board. As a result you will be seeing the following contents on the bottom of the topic. You can ignore it if you want.

80  Economy / Scam Accusations / cryptonbets: Unique approach - Just saved $50 on: July 03, 2018, 10:30:43 PM
I never heard of this betting site cryptonbets.com. I wanted to find some information by Googling and failed without any luck except this interesting finding... The domain cryptonbets.com has been created on 01/07/2018 and today when I am composing this topic, the date is 03/07/2018. So it's obvious not to find any reference online. And, clearly someone had this master plan to scam someone else.

Hello, help me to withdraw funds from roulette.
I just won 985 bucks on bitcoin roulette cryptonbets.com
I can not withdraw money because I need a deposit. My friend threw me $ 5 and I won an unreal jackpot. Since you are a trusted person on the forum, I can trust you. I'm ready to give you $ 250. If anything write in the telegram @PlVyZ
The original topic has been deleted by the mod.

I wanted to help the guy and on top of it, if I get extra $250 then no harm right? I landed my hand. We had chat on telegram. The person gave me his credentials so that I can log in and make some deposit and finally withdraw the amount then give him the difference. While we were having chat he won more (Full chat history).

Once I had the credentials then I wanted to familiar with the interface of the site. I started my research and when I could not find anything at all both in Google and in BitcoinTalk forum (at this point I did not have in mind to check the whois lookup for the domain), I did not felt comfortable but I did not gave up yet then.

I wanted to see how the withdrawal works and once I figured out that I will need to deposit minimum $50 then my suspension was getting stronger. I then wanted to chat with the members who were already chatting with each others. I was asking if anyone actually got paid but no answer. Then I decided to gave up because it seems not ok to me. I then informed the person that it does not look good and he can take his account back. I recorded a clip at the end of the conversation so that I can prove myself not guilty in case the person accuse me saying that I took out his money(Video clip)

After everything, I then started to realize that the entire thing was planned. The site does not actually have any user at all. Those chats are auto bots. The approach from the guy was simple, the offer was good so anyone will take a risk of $50 to deposit to get extra $250. Once they make the deposit they actually never get any penny back. The money goes straight to the person's wallet. The entire thing is a wise setup to scam people.

Be aware of this  cryptonbets.com  website.
