1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [ANN GPUCOIN FAILURE] IPO IMMEDIATE REFUNDS on: March 04, 2014, 04:58:26 AM
Mods, please move this to the appropriate section as necessary. Thank you.

05-MAR UPDATE: Full refund confirmed for myself. Others are being informed of theirs as well. Everything below is for historical purposes/reference. Good luck with the relaunch.

Notice: If your post isn't on topic, or if you aren't an IPO, moderation will be requested to remove your posts. Please respect the topic of this thread and move the general chatter elsewhere

Regarding the 2nd failed launch of "GPUC - GPU Coin", by owner/operator "GPU Coin" aka Jaymes Reilly of Norfolk/Chesapeake, Virginia :

As per your written statement in email to IPOs (initial public offering) and throughout your thread, you agreed to IMMEDIATELY REFUND all investments upon a failed launch.

On the launch date, it FAILED. You then admitted failure, and that relaunch would occur. You stated if the re-launch failed, refunds would be IMMEDIATE.

AS of this post, it is the general consensus of the community that the coin has failed to launch. After almost an hour, synchs still were not occuring properly, the coin was forking, and still yet, the block rewards are WRONG. Difficulty is also apparently not working. For a coin to be launched fully and smoothly, BLOCK REWARDS SHOULD MATCH COIN SPECS, and DIFFICULTY SHOULD WORK.

Coin has FAILED 2nd launch.
Coin failed all launch attempts throughout the morning, multiple attempts.

You are now bound under Virginia Statute to immediately issue myself, and ALL other IPO's, full BTC refunds to the amount of 100% of their investment. The list is below.

IMMEDIATE ACTION:

IPOs - Please post up and identify yourself (if you wish) to be heard on this thread. Please post up to announce that you have received refunds.

GPU Coin - You are required to immediately begin refunds. If you would like to dispute this, you have a lot of backtracking to do. All of your posts and emails have been logged for legal reasons. You did, afterall, invite us to pursue this course of action upon a failed launch.

What is this about? - GPU Coin was launched as an altcoin payment system for a new product website which gets you GPUs at lower than retail cost. You mine the coin, and the coin is used to purchase the GPUs. Here's YOUR chance to get more coins right at launch, than someone mining! The coin has a business backing from an actual LLC in America, with almost $50,000 invested up front.

I can provide plenty of positive rep from this forum from pool ops, developers, folks I've traded and sold with if necessary

If you get this email DO NOT CLICK ANY LINKS - report it as Phishing / Scam / Spam to your provider

Just got this email through an email account I use for mining, which means it came from one of the pools I'm on. My email is set to hidden on all pools. Not sure if it's a scam, but it SURE looks like one. On examining the hidden link data, it redirects to a google drive to load some file. I didn't click on it. I'll include the header data below, and a pic of the email. I won't include the email as I wouldn't want anyone clicking the link.

Looks like someone exploited a relay somewhere.

Anyone else see this? What makes me curious is the email account is for mining pools. If it's hidden, someone had server-side access..

4  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTB] KNC Add On Modules from October on: November 22, 2013, 05:04:30 PM
Looking for at least 1 for my Mercury, will take more of course. Send me decent offers.
5  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Aftermarket cooling for 7950/7970 Cards - Where are the options? on: November 20, 2013, 08:19:27 PM
I find myself in need of some aftermarket coolers. I like the Accelero Hybrid 7970, but the price is loopey. The Accelero Extreme 3 7970 is priced right, but they're out of stock everywhere. Deepcool Dracula has dropped off the planet.

Am I missing something, why have all the reference 7970/7950 cooling options disappeared? What do we do ?
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Idea to spread Bitcoin - Gas Stations on: November 05, 2013, 03:38:27 PM
I'm not sure if this has been proposed before, but if it hasn't I'd like to lay claim to this little idea lol.

I see threads where folks are talking about appealing to celebrities or politicians or executives to get the word out about Bitcoin. To me, the nice thing about Bitcoin (among hundreds of things), is that it's by the people, for the people--and isn't being promoted specifically by some of these well-known rich folks.

I was at the fuel station yesterday figuring out which card to use to get some gas. I've been pondering building a Bitcoin POS for my small business use myself, and while thinking about this and looking at my cards, an idea struck me--wouldn't it be great if we could use cryptocurrencies at the pump? Bitcoin specifically, eventually altcoins with faster confirms, or a coin specifically for this purpose (PumpCoin, FuelCoin anyone? totally claiming that one..)

What better way to get "Pay with Bitcoin" in front of the masses--of all social levels in life--and without using some celebrity face. The pump stations are places most folks visit, and I'm sure the companies would be interested in a transaction system which prevents chargebacks and has lower fees than credit card systems. Not to mention you wouldn't have to say yes/no to a stupid receipt print out, the transaction is the receipt.

Just thinking out loud, but I believe if you could get a company or two to sign onto the idea, you'd get more market awareness than with something like an occasional ATM machine or mom-n-pop shop.

Am I alone here, what do you guys think?
7  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Bitcoin POS (point of sale) Register - Anyone made one, working on it, etc? on: November 04, 2013, 06:34:28 PM
Any companies making one?

Better yet, has anyone here made a simple dedicated one out of a tablet/PC/laptop/etc?

I'm looking to make one for my small business uses. Just looking for ideas. Post 'em up if you have links or photos of ideas.
8  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTB] Defective/Broken/Burned-out ASIC hardware (USB BE's especially) on: October 31, 2013, 03:25:33 PM
Looking to buy some defective/broken ASIC hardware. Maybe you broke it or whatnot and don't have a use for it. LMK what you have. Will pay for shipping. If it's super interesting I might pay more.

Especially interested in USB Block Erupters and Blades.
9  Economy / Service Discussion / BFL claims no FTC or BBB complaints filed.. and deletes my posts on it.. LOL on: September 09, 2013, 02:00:55 AM
So on one of my threads on the BFL forum, I pointed out how BFL claimed their method of clearing the backlog would be to have individual production/parts lines for each product, so they'd all move together super fast. I pointed out how clearly there's some huge failures going on in the company as their Jally line has been shut down for over a week to let other lines move forward.

That was fine but my post about customers filing BBB / FTC complaints to get refunds got deleted. Apparently it's false to say that folks have done that. Our friend BFL_Josh, a good member on this forum as well, told me it was because I didn't follow guidelines.. was either a troll or posting false information. Hrm, I suppose it's all relative really. I did ask if he had any info on the backlog! Here's a snapshot of what's been said.

If he has anything to say about the backlog I'll post it! Grin

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Updating CGMINER in BAMT 1.1+ Scrypt build on: September 05, 2013, 01:53:46 PM
Forgive me if this is the wrong forum.

I use BAMT 1.1 on some rigs for scrypt mining. It has cgminer 3.1. I'd like to update it. Is it as easy as just gitcloning and compiling like normal, or are there any special tricks because it's BAMT?
11  Economy / Goods / [WTS] AK Style .223/5.56 CAI Golani Sporter + Quad Rail + CAA Grip + Mags + Ammo on: September 02, 2013, 01:15:18 AM
This is my auction: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=363352303

If necessary, I can prove it by modifying the auction at any time.

Those with Serious interest can make me offers, not looking for tire kickers. If sold, item will adhere to all applicable laws (ie, shipped to an FFL not to the purchaser). Local pickup from VA residents is an option as well.
12  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Suggested linux builds (non-gui) for CGMINER on: August 30, 2013, 02:40:06 PM
My preferred super-simple low-key linux build won't handle USB ASIC mining properly as I found out the hard way (debian issues with the old libusb ala https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=28402.msg2983720#msg2983720)

I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions for similar non-gui builds which DO work properly with libusb? Has to be 32bit architecture. I know I could run Ubuntu or something, but I don't care for any desktop shells loading and I'd rather have the build only install what I need vs me taking stuff out.

Let's see what everyone is running.
13  Other / Off-topic / I have solved BFL's time estimate problem.. they weren't lying! on: August 26, 2013, 09:42:59 PM
We've all seen the estimates for quite awhile now.. 2 months here... 5 months there.. etc.. The thing is, we incorrectly presumed Earth months.

I got to thinking about it, and their backlog and logic is astronomical.. therefore, If you factor their time as being based on Mars or Jupiter, it makes much more sense. Mars months are about 2x our months, and Jupiter months are close to 12x as long as ours.

This makes total sense now  Grin
