195  Local / Altcoins (Deutsch) / [Byteball] Tue Gutes und erhalte kostenlose Bytes on: May 10, 2018, 04:30:55 PM

196  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / [Obyte] Get Free Bytes Daily For Computing For Good [NEW: COVID-19 Crunching] on: May 10, 2018, 12:16:30 PM
Did you know that you can get some free daily Bytes by doing something good like helping researchers finding ways and drugs for fighting diseases like cancer and diabetes without much work?

Everyone can participate who have a desktop PC or laptop running Windows, MacOs or Linux.

And as a special goodie, there is an anonymous donor who paid Bytes valued $6 to each participant a few days ago. There may be more such actions in the future.

Byteball's team started the campaign three weeks ago by airdropping Bytes to people which are spending their idle processing power to research projects.

There is only a one-time installation needed, then everything runs in the background and earns you real Bytes. To help beginners to get familiar with Obyte and WorldCommunityGrid I created this pretty straightforward step by step tutorial. Here we go!

Step 1)
Download and install very userfriendly Obyte wallet client (lightweight wallet). Installation is straightforward due to step by step installer as you may know from computer games for example. If you still need help, check out this great installation video.
https://youtu.be/ODctDrgKpqM?t=1m25s

Step 2)
2.1 ) Open Obyte wallet client. Since it is the first time you have to agree to the terms of service, choose between a full or light wallet (light wallet recommend, thus, choose second bullet point) and give a wallet name. Afterwards, your wallet is fully set up.

2.2 ) Click on „Chat“-Tab in the bottom of the client.

2.3 ) On next view, click on „Bot Store“-Tab above and choose „World Community Grid linking bot“. On following view, click on „ADD BOT“ button.

2.4 ) Now the bot view opens. The bot asks for your language. Choose it by clicking on your language.

2.5 ) The bot shows your username in form of „Obyte_<random sequence of numbers and letters>. Copy the username and leave the wallet/bot open.

Step 3)
3.1) Sign up on WorldCommunityGrid (or use my referral link - it brings me nothing except virtual batches when I've referred a certain amount of people) ) by providing user name (given from the bot in step 2.5), email address and password.

3.2) Choose projects you want to spend processing power for. If you do not favor particular projects, just check all.

3.3) Download, install and set up open source BOINC software (Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing) as described in the provided step by step tutorial.

3.4 ) Click on this link to get to the Obyte's team page and click the join button.

Step 4)
4.1) Go back to bot in Obyte wallet and click „Check my account“. The bot validates your WCG sign up. If everything is fine, you got a success message.

4.2) Now you finally need to link your Obyte address to get payments. Go to „Receive“ in the bottom tab and copy your address.

4.3 ) Go back to bot and paste your address. You receive a message that your address was linked successfully.

Congratulations, you are done!
When you run the BOINC software, it automatically retrieves, downloads, processes and uploads tasks. You do not have to do anything further, just let the software run.

Based of the amount of your computer's done tasks you daily get an automatic payout of Bytes to your wallet from the bot .

If you have any questions about Obyte‘s WorldCommuntiyGrid campaign, feel free to ask!

Please notice, this is not an official post from Obyte. I just support the campaign and I want to help to spread the word.
