41  Other / Meta / Theymos using Censorship to Engineer Bitcoin on: August 18, 2015, 08:09:41 PM
Theymos is using censorship to engineer his personal beliefs of Bitcoin - and XT is not the first time.

When Theymos doesn't like something, he buries discussions of it to places where it isn't easily found.  This amounts to a form of censorship.  He like to imagine 'oh, that's not true bitcoin - so I'll just stuff that over in alts'.

It has a profound effect on the community.  Censorship is wrong.  Theymos as custodian of the largest platform on bitcoin should self impose restrictions on continued use of this technique.

For example, Mastercoin was worth $150M market cap and getting enormous attention.  Mastercoin is added layer on TOP of bitcoin.  It introduced some really useful new function - on top of bitcoin's blockchain.

Theymos didn't consider it real bitcoin.  He moved the Mastercoin threads deep into the very noisy 'Alts' section.  The community could no longer effectively communicate and organize.  Mastercoin dissolved and disappeared immediately thereafter.

Theymos simply destroyed Mastercoin because he personally didn't like it.

Theymos does like XT.  He considers everything outside his ideal - 'an Alt'.  So, he invokes a kind of censorship to bury those topics.

It is a very dangerous part of our Bitcoin community that one man has his finger on the delete key and can silence large groups of people presenting important opinion - by merely declaring is 'Alts'.

Theymos needs to stop.  - or be stopped.

I do hereby pledge not to conduct any bitcoin business within New York, with New York residents, nor with any business which does conduct such business.  I will not pay an outrageous fee to join a government register which does nothing more than impose restrictive limits on my cryptocurrency activities in the name of government oversight.  I hereby reject the BitLicense and all governments who bring such things.

43  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Karpeles finally getting some Japanese style justice - hang 'em high on: July 30, 2015, 10:41:13 PM
Looks like the Jap cops are going to hit him for fraud.  while I don't have a crystal ball, I think that dick deserves it.  Japan should send him to the US where he'd get a real good long sentence and they'd put him in jail right away.  Maybe they could put him in the cell right next to Ross the Pirate.  In Japan, he'll be in the court for 8 years and then he'll only get 5 weeks of light scolding by an angry old lady.  Cakewalk.

44  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Entrepreneurs should leave the US now on: July 22, 2015, 07:50:34 PM
This crazy broad law means the FBI can put you in jail for 5 years anytime they don't like your business.  Nearly every version of bitcoin business exposes its principles to 5 years of jail on the whim of the FBI.

https://coincenter.org/2015/07/does-18-u-s-c-%C2%A7-1960-create-felony-liability-for-bitcoin-businesses/

If you are going to start a bitcoin business in the US, it better be loved by Uncle Sam, the church and everybody - or you are going to jail.

It is no wonder Wences, Vik Buterin, and hundreds of others have packed it in and left for Zug Switzerland.  The Fed is truly going to run all bitcoin innovation out of the US.  They already have a very good head start on that.

45  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin is closing banks already on: July 21, 2015, 11:39:32 PM
Here is just the latest effect Bitcoin is having on banks... http://money.cnn.com/2015/07/15/investing/bank-of-america-branches-layoffs/index.html?iid=EL  Lets keep up the good work.
46  Economy / Economics / Crisis, then opportunity. on: July 01, 2015, 11:53:20 AM
Wanna make a quick million?  Here's how:

Greece is going to be VERY Euro hungry for the next 3 months.  Fly to Athens with a big bag of cash.  All Greek people having relatives in foreign lands (with bank accounts) can send you bitcoin.  You pay their relatives in Euros.  This remittance operation would be insanely busy in about 5 days.  You'd need a courier and body guard each day flying in with new cash.

Instant millionaire.
47  Economy / Economics / Bank holiday in Greece on: June 30, 2015, 08:04:57 AM
Yesterday, nearly everyone in Greece was cut off from their money.  Even if you have 5 million euros in the bank, you are now stuck with 60Euros per day.  An irresponsible government, took money away from the people.

Now do you think bitcoin is powerful?  People who had 5 million in bitcoin yesterday - still have 5 million today.  No stupid government rule is going to change that situation.

Now go ask the millions of greeks with no money if they like Bitcoin.  As of today, nobody understands Bitcoin more than the Greeks.
48  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / The real bitcoin on: June 28, 2015, 05:56:21 PM
We will wait and see what other core developers think of Gavin's proposal. But we will certainly not switch to the altcoin called 'Bitcoin' XT. It could set a very bad precedent if we do that. No matter who you are, you cannot make a new coin and declare it is 'Bitcoin' simply because you do not agree with other core developers.

altcoin called Bitcoin XT?  Not exactly.  You see, the real bitcoin had no block size limit.  Then, the an altcoin came with a 1MB limit.  Therefore, what we have now is actually the altcoin.  The real bitcoin, Satoshi's bitcoin has no limit.  Therefore, Gavin's plan to gradually return closer to no limits - is not an altcoin as Fool2Pool suggests, it is actually a return to the real bitcoin.

Stop calling bitcoinXT an altcoin.  If we have an altcoin, it is this current piece of shit with a 1MB limit.

Now we have all these core developers trying to find a way to make their 'lightning network' useful.  They want to limit bitcoin blocksize to cause their Lightning network to become profitable.  A clear conflict of interest.  Forget side chains.  Side chains is a totally different project.  Those guys who want to do side chains are calling bitcoin XT an altcoin.  This is bullshit.  The real bitcoin is the bitcoin Gavin is trying to get back to without blocksize limits.

50  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / A major flaw with Bitcoin on: June 14, 2015, 11:30:59 AM

Money has a very distinctive smell.  A really good smell.  "The smell of money" - even sounds cool.

Bitcoin doesn't smell like anything.  Totally sterile.  That sucks.  This is what I see as the major flaw of Bitcoin.
51  Economy / Economics / It already started... on: June 09, 2015, 01:02:00 PM
HSBC to sack 50,000.  http://money.cnn.com/2015/06/09/investing/hsbc-job-cuts/index.html

Get used to headlines like this, banks are going to spend the next ten years explaining why they are 'downsizing'.  The largest bank in the world - is pretty much lost for reasons why they no longer figure out ways to make money.

Good riddance.
52  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / What a relief! Even the rich guys are dumb as hell sometimes on: June 02, 2015, 10:47:26 AM
BitFury fucked up.  http://www.coindesk.com/bitfury-light-bulbs-mine-bitcoin/

I love how they are looking for every explanation as to why they are doing this...

Quote from: Vavilov
"the goal of the project would be to galvanize interest in bitcoin as a technology, and that making any money on the initiative would be secondary to promoting discovery."

Quote from: Vavilov
"We are now on our third generation of prototype and envision this as an educational product that will help lower the friction toward understanding the technology and making it super easy for kids and adults of all ages to touch bitcoin blockchain ecosystem,"

This is nothing other than a world class fuck-up.  Anyone who uses one (unless they have insanely cheap electricity) will lose money - every moment the light bulb is on.  No matter how much 'discovery' they are doing while the light is on, that 'discovery' is costing them money.

Space heaters are different.  Toasters are not.  Light bulbs are insanely dumb.  Unless the price of bitcoin goes past 1200 again, then these guys will look like geniuses for about ten minutes until the hashrate shoots back up.
53  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / The funniest thing ever.... on: June 02, 2015, 07:14:33 AM

This Swiss group is going to start a bitcoin only bank.

"will provide all traditional banking services, but only with the use of the digital currency"

Clearly, they don't understand what bitcoin is.
54  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Miner spending on: May 30, 2015, 06:53:59 PM
Lets say I reference a transaction output of 1 bitcoin in my new transaction I intend to send to Alice.  I send Alice .5 bitcoin and I take as change .499 leaving .001 as the mining fee.  Both Alice and I will reference those outputs as new inputs on our next transaction.  But how does the miner reference his .001 when he wants to spend that?  He can't point to an output of a transaction hash.  How is this miner fee reference in future transactions?
55  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / How to convey transaction to network on: April 30, 2015, 05:05:13 PM
I have a most perfectly formed transaction ready to go.  What is the easiest way to transmit it into the bitcoin network for processing?

I don't want to set up and run bitcoind on a local machine.  Too much agro.  Is there a trusted node with a permanent IP which I can send (via some protocol) the bytes to?  What is the minimum handshaking that must be done to establish a connection to this node with a know IP.  Is there an easier way?  Does blockchain.info support that?

57  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / I am glad the price is down - I wish it would go down further. on: January 13, 2015, 09:13:08 PM
The out of control euphoria made stupid people and scammers come into the bitcoin community.  Now that the price is down, maybe they will leave.  Making money on the price increase is dumb luck and speculation.  If you want to make money on bitcoin, invest in companies who are building stuff with bitcoin.  The stock of those companies will pay handsomely no matter the price.

The functionality of bitcoin doesn't change - whatever the price is.  Let's say a payment processor gets 1% of a transaction.  Someone buys a $100 bottle of wine with bitcoin.  The payment processor gets a $1.  If the price of bitcoin is $10,000/BTC or if it is .00001/BTC.  Either way, the payment processor gets a buck.  The only idiots who want the price to go up are the guys who didn't build something nice which works with bitcoin and are hoping to profit from pure speculation.  I am glad they are all losing.  The only people who deserve to be rewarded are the guys building Circle, Blockchain, Factom, et cetera.  Go invest in a company busy making nice stuff.  Let the speculators go down.

58  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Shrem to jail for two years!!! Holy shit! on: December 20, 2014, 12:41:04 AM
The fed is crazy!  What the hell does Charlie have to go to jail for two years for?  If you are going to do bitcoin, be careful you don't do something illegal!!!!

http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=newssearch&cd=1&ved=0CB0QqQIoADAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.reuters.com%2Farticle%2F2014%2F12%2F19%2Fus-usa-crime-bitcoin-idUSKBN0JX2CW20141219&ei=rMWUVKLpNMOqgwSH7oP4BA&usg=AFQjCNGY-k3vxmX8GQZn6B79VyKyv0NvOw&sig2=7Y12SnWRSVOzXtIXhUwGJg&bvm=bv.82001339,d.eXY

Everyone should prepare some care packages and send them to the jail.  He could use a little sympathy from the community.
59  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin Foundation - in good hands on: December 19, 2014, 12:39:43 AM
Say what you want you foundation haters - Murck knows what he is doing.

http://blogs.wsj.com/moneybeat/2014/12/18/bitbeat-lawskys-blockbuster-analogy-harper-leaves-bitcoin-foundation/

Harper is a buffoon who wants to fuss about with policy.  Murck understands why that is worse thing a Bitcoin Foundation could concern itself with.  Thankfully, Murck knows that the focus belongs on a great core development.  Fights and debates with the fools in Washington do nothing but consume enormous amounts of time.  How can Lawsky make rules already? - we don't even know what bitcoin is yet.  We probably won't know for at least another 3 years.  All laws made today are going to be completely dumb in view of the new concepts which are sure to come.  Use the old rules on fraud to go after the cheats and let the protocol breath for now.  Legitimate new companies don't need to spend millions putting in place silly papers for Lawsky's department to give blessings.  What a waste of resources.  Both government resources and public resources.  All for nothing.

In the face of all that crap, Murck says: 'let get back to work' and sends the foundation down the path of perfecting the core without a care nor concern about the fools who will debate until the moon comes up again - Lawsky and Harper.

Three cheers Murck - keep up the good work.
60  Economy / Economics / Ruble in freefall... Too bad for those people they outlawed Bitcoin! hahaha on: December 16, 2014, 06:46:37 PM
Ruble fell 12% against dollar on Monday alone.  Still think Bitcoin is volatile?
Read it and weap: http://money.cnn.com/2014/12/16/news/economy/russia-ruble-collapse-options/index.html?hpt=hp_t2
Poor Russians got nowhere to turn - so they are stuck holding that crap fiat ruble not worth a penny these days.
