Curtam a corrida!

224  Other / Meta / Super Merit Table - Where did you spend/received all of your merits on: July 29, 2020, 03:26:58 AM
I used DdmrDdmr data once again and created this cool table.

Here you can see where any user spent or received all of his merits, by boards.

Just use the search box to find your username. Then scroll around all of boards and see how many merits you have sent/received in each board.

https://bitcoindata.science/supertable.html

I find that table pretty useful. It might take a while to load, just be patient (all merit database will be loaded)

225  Economy / Economics / Global Migration of Millionaires. Can Bitcoin change this scenario? on: July 28, 2020, 05:28:54 PM
I saw this image today. It shows the migration of millionaires around the world.

We see clearly millionaires moving from more  repressive countries to freer ones.

Millionaires are probably moving away from countries which try to steal their money. With bitcoin adoption, rich people won't need to run away with their money, they can just convert it to bitcoin to protect themselves.

Source: https://www.visualcapitalist.com/global-migration-of-millionaires/

For those who think China will dominate the world in a few years.. wealth continue to flow out of their country. I  believe it will fall just like URSS did few decades ago. Dictatorships are never good for economies in long term

Everyone wants freedom. Bitcoin will certainly make the world freer.
226  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / top bitcoin Exchanges Volume Race on: July 24, 2020, 12:21:03 PM
I did this animation called Exchanges Volume Race using exchanges volume data from data.bitcoinity.org .

It is very hard to find exchanges volume data, and we all know those data are not very reliable and heavily manipulated.

However, I decided to that animation even with all those known problems of data quality and trust.

It is very interesting to see Mt.Gox fast grown and its spectacular crash at the beginning of the animation.

You can see the animation just click on the image.

https://public.flourish.studio/visualisation/3276127/.

I am open to suggestions and ideas for new animations per request.

227  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / BitHD Razor - Hardware wallet Step by Step Guide and Review on: July 01, 2020, 05:49:15 PM
In January, Bitpie contacted me in this forum, offering me a Razor HD Wallet for free if I made an honest review. I liked the design a lot and I gladly asked for the device.
Due to corona virus crisis, I was able to get my hands on my Razor wallet just a few days ago.

The design is really amazing. I liked to see a seal  in the box, so I was sure nobody opened it in the post office (I really missed that seal in my Ledger Nano).

I really missed step by step instructions to create a new wallet, which can be tricky, so I made this guide.

Step by Step Guide

1 - Download the App
The first thing that you need to do in order to setup your Razor is to download the smartphone app. To download the software I was instructed to go to https://bitpie.com/android where I downloaded the APK file.

Personally I don't really like this procedure, as I prefer to download it straight from google play store, as it is safer.

Once installed, I connected Razor to my mobile phone with Bluetooth.

2 - Plug Razor
Plug your Razor wallet in your laptop (so it could lit up and charge the battery) and then connect it to the smartphone using bluetooth. The cables that came with the device are not compatible with my Samsung A30, so that was the only as far as I know.

3 - Location access
Once device was connected to my phone and I run the Bitpie wallet app I received an unexpected request: Bitpie wallet needs to access my location to work, as you can see in the image below.
After conceding location access you will see Razor wallet in the Bitpie App screen.

4 - Set a PIN
Then, once I authorized the device to access my location I was requested a PIN. I could see the pin on the device screen, but I couldn't type it. The keyboard is all "*****" and i couldn't decypher what are the numbers really.... I really miss some ELI5 (explain like I was 5) instructions now regarding how to create a new wallet.

After a lot of tries, I gave up in about 30 minutes. Thanks to a video BitCryptex showed me, I was able to successful create a new PIN.

As you can see in the image below, you cannot see the numbers in the app. What you have to do is "decypher" the keyboard in the wallet using the keyboard in your Razor, like in the image below. Then you choose a PIN with at least 6 digits. The keyboard will scramble again, when you are asked to repeat the PIN.

5 - Write down the seed words
After you have successfully choose a PIN you will have to note down the seed words in the sheet paper provided. Easy step, just note down the 12, 18 or 24 words.

6 - Sign the message to complete device sync
To complete the sync, just click "O" in the device to sign the message and complete synchronization process.

Strong points:
  • Device design is amazing. The most beautiful Hardware wallet I have ever seen
  • Good mobile App
  • Box came sealed, which is amazing and gives a nice comfort for new users.

Points that could be improved:

  • Instructions. The lack of instructions almost made me gave up. If it was not for Bitcryptex suggestions, I would have.
  • No need for location access. There should be an option to make the application work without location access, even if it consumes more battery.
  • Lack of Desktop App. Should really have one. I would really want ELECTRUM compatibility. If it already has, please put a BIG note in the website/instructions.

Review:
Overall a nice hardware wallet which I would certainly recommend.
228  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Mining Centralization Race on: June 18, 2020, 04:41:07 PM
I did another animation, but this time using LoyceV block data .
This animation is not related to bitcointalk, but to bitcoin mining.

You can see the animation here, just click on the image.

https://public.flourish.studio/visualisation/2879848/

This is a different perspective than to usual pie charts with mining centralization, such as those from https://www.blockchain.com/charts/pools

This bar chart is based in % of blocks mined within one month period.

I liked to visualize data like this. In the beginning, especially before 2012, we can see that mining was more decentralized when miners where "Unknown". I believe this Unknown are more decentralized, probably many small independent miners.

Based in the animation/chart we can see that the four biggest mining pools mined 56% of the blocks in the last month.

This is a good way to visualize mining centralization over time.

[WARNING] Some Data is not up to date.

This post is a compilation to my other Race animations regarding bitcointalk and bitcoin stats.
I will keep this thread updated as my work progresses.

How are those animations done?

Some people asked me about those animations. I use @LoyceV's data and this nice website called Flourish Studio to make the animation.
99% of the work is to organize the data. I do that with Python, especially Pandas library.

Suggestion and animations request
I am open to suggestions and animations per request. For a group of users, for example. As I said, 99% of the work was to organize the data, and now it is organized.

I plan to make more animations about bitcoin and blockchain data, I am just having more trouble organizing that data. But I plan to release one soon.

233  Local / Economia & Mercado / Comprar cursos no Coursera. Só aceita USD e Paypal. Posso pagar com BTC? ? on: June 12, 2020, 04:29:58 AM

https://www.paypal.com/br/smarthelp/article/como-posso-adicionar-saldo-em-moeda-estrangeira-na-minha-conta-paypal-faq1348

Alguem sabe alguma solucao? Ja usaram esse cartao pre pago deles?
234  Economy / Service Discussion / Is there a way to buy a Coursera course with Bitcoin? on: June 12, 2020, 04:20:39 AM
I am looking to buy a coursera course, but it doens't accepts bitcoin as payment method.

I know they accept paypal and I could exchange BTC for paypal, but paypal has very abusive fees in my country.

Does anyone know any way to pay a course with bitcoin there?
235  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Reddit launched two cryptocurrency for active users in r/CryptoCurrency on: June 10, 2020, 02:56:31 AM
I just discovered this.

Reddit is launching two new cryptocurrencies, you can see more details here

https://www.reddit.com/vault/

If you are active in r/Cryptocurrency and fortnite you can grab some coins.
There is a great catch:

https://www.forbes.com/sites/colinharper/2020/05/14/reddit-launches-ethereum-tokens-for-subbredits-in-new-community-points-campaign/#1d8e7ef7533c
Either subreddit will begin distributing tokens in the next few days on Ethereum’s Rinkeby testnet. They will remain in beta on the testnet for the rest of the summer before graduating to Ethereum’s mainnet if they pass the testnet’s trial round.

So, they are still testnet coins. However, they may become mainnet tokens in the future. I don't expect much money from this, but it is interesting anyway. Better than 99% of bounties out there for sure.

Edit: I am having this problem when creating a new wallet. Anyone was able to pass it?

"Uh oh! We hit a sang. Unable to load data, please try again."

237  Local / Brasil / Situação dos GIFT CARDS no Brasil on: May 22, 2020, 03:16:24 AM

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5208530.msg54454211#msg54454211

1. Bitrefill.com
https://www.bitrefill.com/buy/spotify-premium-brazil/?hl=en
Price: 0.00037800 BTC

2. Coinsbee
https://www.coinsbee.com/en/Spotify-bitcoin
~0.00047667 BTC
Esse aí é pra mata. são 24,30 reais, 40% a mais. São malucos.

3. Bitpay
0.00035 = Saldo insuficiente para a transação(taxa de mineração).

Ainda temos o Bitpay.

238  Local / Brasil / Governo precisa imprimir dinheiro contra a crise (Carta Capital) on: May 22, 2020, 02:02:51 AM

É preciso combater a crise.
